good just good,
i play it because of the variety of characters to play as
and playing against someone else

I use Blaze a lot, but when you are rank 4000 and up, you get matched up by level 10 and up with common characters

time waster but fun

I finished the game on PC finally after finishing Sonic Adventure DX, I owned the original game in Dreamcast during it's release back in the day, I can only recall a vague memory like playing only up to around where Tails on the pyramid stage and Rouge on the moon stage and never bother finishing it after my little brother lost my VMU with the save.

What I can definitely say is that I really loved playing this game, the development team really did things right from Sonic Adventure then imporved on it really well, The design is hokey to laughably hokey serious themes brings a certain charm to it. The dynamic of each character in the really presents them well and is placed well regardly in the story character wise. Levels are well designed and distinguish recognizably well as it's own, Layouts are well recycled like if you try to play as Sonic, the levels with Shadow are the same level but with a different approach and level layout. The same can be said when comparing other characters with their respective counterparts.

Sonic and Shadow levels are fast paced, I feel like this game was too advanced for a Dreamcast platform it's really planned and developed. I was very much surpised they bring back the magnet cylinder platform from the classics and really translated well into 3D, I can really imagine QA effort on fixing those parts. These types of levels are my favorite and I think fans of this game will also say the same.

Tails and Eggman levels are basically just target and shoot levels ala Gamma playthrough in Sonic Adventure 1, I enjoy it's length of the level just breezing through the levels with the level's charming design puzzles and what not like gliding in from a tall platform etc. it doesn't overstay it's welcome but I think developers also thought about that and then decided to make these levels have some bonus areas to explore when going back to these levels will all the power up abilities are achieved by the player.

Knuckles and Rouge these are Scavenging levels just like playing as Knuckles in Sonic Adventure 1. These levels really overstays it's at times when I get a feeling of frustration and just search back and forth and notice time is already nearing 30 minutes. The most amazing level I saw in these types of level is the Space levels, it feels like, again, too advanced for Dreamcast platform with how big the level is for the player to explore.

Story for this game is really hokey most of the time but that is it's charm. I have grown to like the Edge that Shadow brings like it's edgy funny and I wouldn't want it to change it about him. One thing i don't like about this probably is the mocap animation, it really feels to see their in their anthromorphic 3d models, it doesn't feel right.

Bonus gameplay for this one, is the Chao Garden and I feel like this is the feature that will keep me going back and play this game for a very long time. Chao s are really cute and I've been thinking of getting one custom made, that's how cute these Chao s are

I think this is the game that has been cemented being arguably the best 3D Sonic game there is, that it has put fans' expectation way too high to achieve when there is a new Sonic game being made.

I played this alot back then, especially Sonic The Hedgehog 3. I recently I played it again due to some videos recommended to me and some piqued my curiosity as Sonic The Hedgehog 3 may never be re-released in future and all the interesting facts they show.

Playing Sonic 3 AIR is really the definitive way of playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles no doubt, with features that you can imagine if Christian Whitehead devs would do a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 port of the game. Widescreen and all the possible cut content being intergrated into this port of the game

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 really takes me back, seemless gameplay design of the Sonic series, the easiest entry in the series, sounds and music that is memorable and pleasing to the ears. interesting mechanics that kept young me coming back for more even though I will probably be stuck in the Carnival Zone not knowing that Up and Down direction is all takes to progress in the game back then

To this day, I have shunned the series from playing any Sonic games until recently due to the notoriety of the Sonic fanbase. Sonic 3 the game that I love and I shut it out from my life for years until recently. I don't have any fond memories about Sonic and Knuckles since I only got to borrow it for like 2 weeks I think back then but it's a nice experience to finally play both games finally

Sonic Adventure is a game I never owned on the original Dreamcast, I only owned Sonic Adventure 2, but this article doesn't concern that game.
I played this like 2 decades after, Luckily I was able to watch a video to play this game, the best way possible in which a All in One collection of mods to improve and restoring the original dreamcast Sonic Adventure experience as close as possible in PC.

After setting it up, I just need a consistent focus and open mind to play this because this game was a game being developed on the period transitioning from 2D to 3D. Re envisioning the original Sonic games into a 3D game is kind of hard to imagine, and the product shows there is gameplay inconsistency. I have heard of development stories of various ideas where they green lit them and then red lit stop them midway, but they have to work with what they have and decided to keep some of those stuff in, brush them up and hopefully no player of the game would notice it.

Presentation and visuals are somewhat good for it's time, controls are severely dated but fun to mess around with, especially with ridiculous physics to navigate through areas. Different characters here meant different ways of playing the levels and story perspective of their own. Sonic levels are the most elaborate one, Tails it's sort of the same as Sonic levels but you can skim through easy, Knuckles levels seem to be scavenging tasks, Amy levels are grounded and slower paced, Big levels are just fishing mini game, Gamma levels are just target and shoot. Super Sonic well it's a boss fight.
Some of this gameplay would be improved on the Sonic Adventure 2 game.
Chao portion of the game I could careless since everyone seems to say Sonic Adventure 2 Chao Garden is superior in every way

I'll conclude with the notion that the experience is unique with this one, I played with the mind of "what were the developers thinking when they made this?" in a concerned and curious way. I admire the developers on trying different ideas and taking the risk but when you think about it, Nintendo with Super Mario 64 also took the risk but in an intelligible way with fantastic remarks from wide array of players to this day. So it really makes you think, what went wrong on Sega's part with Sonic Adventure

there are definitely improvements but MKX and MK9 still is above this

[Played the Mobile version on PC]

This the only sonic game that I did not get to play back then as as a kid. I only have 1 and 3, and sometimes I get to borrow the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge game.
I have always seen this game in magazines and looks really colorful what with levels like Chemical Plant

Anyway, I played twice as of writing, first was last year through emulation and recently with the Android/iOS game, the Christian Whitehead version of the game through the recently release Sonic Mobile PC Decompiler.

As usual the widescreen is a beautiful feature and more fitting for a fast paced platforming game just to see where you are headed to.

I think other additional features in this game, from the top of my head is the added level of the long lost level of Hidden Palace and this is probably the ONLY official level, approved by SEGA

Negative things, I can say about this version is that there are some bugs either put me through a wall that get me stuck or either skip a part of the game. I think that's it for me

Again, comparing it to Sonic 1, they really improved on the most fields that Sonic 1 lacks on. From level design to music to difficulty. It's not as hard as Sonic 1 but it's definitely not as easy as Sonic 3

Infinitas moar liek INFINITE-ASS

I tried for 1 month but it's hard to like this game. 2 days in, I just wish that I had a copy of and IIDX PS2 games to play with.
Think $10 per month and base songs are like around 10 songs and you have to grind like real hard to unlock other songs. Song selection here is ass too like post SIRIUS game songs are extremely limited to like 2-3 songs per new version of IIDX, the only cool thing about this is that some songs not found on the actual arcade can only be found in Infinitas now like wish , Special One etc.

Unlocking the songs one by one, AND NOT even a SONG but a SONG in its SPECIFIC DIFFFICULTY.
I unlocked Fly Above but playing other difficulties is still locked! You have to buy them one by one per difficulty of the song.Class Mode to Rank Up asks you to pony up some cash to play per try. This is the modern and legal way of playing IIDX now, microtransactions, that leave players / fans of this series drained and grinding real hard most of the time with a bleeding wallet on the side.

Only positive I can say to this is that, some exclusive songs can only be played here like Rejection Girl, good song!

And of course, you can stream this modern IIDX game LEGALLY for the world to see

With the recent decompiler software release of rubberduckycooly, there is finally a way to play the Christian Whitehead version's of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 without resorting on emulating an Android system in PC. This is by far the best version as reviewed by many and playing it natively on PC is brand new.

Starting the game shows good improvements from the get go, having the game displayed in widescreen. For a fast moving game, it is easier on the eyes to follow the action. Another improvement is having spindash as seen on later sequels of the game is an improvement but using it carelessly would lead to demise most of the time for me because Sonic 1 level don't seem to optimized with the spindash function in mind.
The game feels more optimized and responsive now, even in underwater levels or places where lag would occur because of too many things happening on the screen.

There is a save function to play this game and would help players to finish the game seamlessly and really did help me play through on Scrap Brain Zone 3, that level is as atrocious as ever.
Finishing the game left a good feeling for me and I think I would be playing this game time to time now as the game has other features like playing as Tails, Knuckles or Sonic and Tails pair.

I could play this on on the phone natively, but playing it on the big screen with a standard controller is really the way to go to keep my attention and interest intact on the game.

I can fairly agree that the Christian Whitehead version of Sonic the Hedgehog is really the definitive version of the game going forward.

2/15

just went in playing again Scrap Brain Zone 3 is my favorite to lose my collective crap on Time Attack, it prove useful when I went in again on another game run as Tails.
Using Tails is new for this game and again his flight function here proved useful as it helped my run access some areas that cannot be reached normally

2/18
Played through with Knuckles , Knuckles' glide ability and wall climbing is useful but just like the spindash ability levels are not optimized to play with. At times often using it will lead you to your demise sometimes. Positive thing about this is using glide or wall climb underwater, these abilities let you move faster than Sonic or Tails. Negative thing about this is well, using this on some parts of the level are buggy. especially the last floor panel on Brain Scrap Zone 3, I bugged into the walls lmao. Another thing about Knuckles is with platforming is different in ways it's not really apparent at first glance. Knuckles has the lowest jumping ability of them all so if you are used to platforming with Sonic, then Knuckle's will need you to use your wall climbing ability. There are also some level routes prevent you from progressing through, and will suggest you to take the alternate route. Fun thing about Knuckles here is that some animation don't really fit well with him, like sliding at Labyrinth Zone.
I doing a run with Sonic and Tails but it just feels like I'm doing a Sonic run again, nothing really special about this mod
