Some of the most natural dialogue I’ve ever seen in a video game. It’s also really super replayable due to being so short but overall there’s not much too this game outside of the banter between Henry and Delilah. I do think that the portrayal of Henry’s mental state while he’s stuck for months in the wilderness was well done. Overall though, Firewatch is held together by its voice acting and characterization. A really solid game that I think would really benefit from a sequel eventually.

Unemployed friend simulator. I love the characters, setting, and writing. This game does a great job portraying what it feels like to not be enough to your friends and family. It also shows how complex the relationships with your friends and family are, it’s not black and white. These are people with their own problems and emotions and I think they feel as genuine as I’ve ever seen in a video game. The little music sections of the game are well done too, and I like how the difficulty of the songs gets harder as you unlock more. This is a really comfy game and it’s one of my favorite narrative based games in the past decade.

Music is the greatest form of art there is and Hi-Fi Rush feels like a celebration of not just music, but rhythm. The gameplay literally revolves around feeling the drums and timing your attacks with the drum patterns. It’s one of the many interesting things that makes this game worthy of so much praise. The art style pops out at you and makes the world feel busy as a result. The characters are a fun cast with some of my favorite voice actors (ROBBIE DAYMOND) and they all feel unique. One of the coolest things in Hi-Fi Rush is the use of licensed music. Hearing the Black Keys in the intro was a special experience for me personally. All in all, this game feels like a love letter to gaming in general. Not at all a long game but not too short either, however it left me wanting more. It’s a shame the studio who made this game got shut down because this game absolutely deserves a sequel. This is a really fun experience for anyone looking for a chill single player game with an interesting gameplay mechanic.
