Tall Platformers

A genre I made up, of platformers from the 90s where the central focus is on drawing the main character's sprite as large and in detail as possible while placing a premium on the animation to the detriment of the speed and tightness of the action. Mainly American in creation, and often licensed. A form of platformer that has fallen completely out of favor, as all retro-invoking platformers are much more focused on the Japanese products of the age (more specifically Konami in the 90s). Compiled here because I still think there is something in this style of game that could be revived or appreciated.
