Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! is better than I anticipated.

I don't like the cutesy visual novel part of it, Act 1 is a drag to get through, but I firmly believe that the horror wouldn't be nearly as effective without it - keep in mind, though, the psychological horror is very much overrated. It's decent for the short length of the game (I believe I did everything but the good ending in under 3 hours, I'm a relatively fast reader), but nothing much beyond that.

I would bump this down to a 2.5 stars but I really appreciate the effort and thought that went behind this title, and I commend Team Salvato for their skill in subverting player expectations and the game's uniqueness.

I didn't play the substories in Plus! and I have no intention of doing so - personally, I feel that all of the characters are developed enough during the main game, albeit requiring some inferring from the dialogue, but I'm much more interested in DDLC+ as a HORROR game and nothing else.

Still a great addition to The Last of Us, but doesn't leave nearly as much of an impact as Part I or II, definitely due to the <2 hour playtime. What's here is good, and the last encounters were some of the best in the series, properly making a simultaneous human/zombie fight that feels like a hectic free-for-all. Overall, a great finishing touch to play straight after the campaign, but a bit short and maybe could've used more combat in the parts where Ellie is alone in the mall.

8/10

(I'm talking about both the actual game and the remake/port)

The Last of Us Part I is what every modern AAA game should strive to be. A well-crafted, emotional story with some of the best dialogue/acting I've seen in a game, and tense, visceral, and at times difficult gameplay.

In terms of the remake, I played on my mid-range PC (i5-11400, RX 6600 XT, 32GB RAM) and experienced almost none of the technical issues that stopped me from initially buying the remake for Steam. I managed to run the game at 1440p using FSR Quality with very generous settings (mostly medium/high settings with medium/high textures as well) and the game performed very well, never impacting gameplay and honestly, I was impressed with both the performance and the gorgeous graphics. As far as non-ray-tracing games go, these graphics are as good as it gets. What really sells the realism is the facial expressions in both cinematics and gameplay; a whole new layer of emotion and storytelling is able to be expressed and Naughty Dog did just that.

The only issues I faced was some infrequent crashing. Maybe five times in the span of twenty-one hours, so I'm not fussed. To be fair, I was messing around and pushing the graphics way too high with only 8GB VRAM.

Final Rating: 10/10

Level design doesn't get better than this.

Shelved this on my second go at the game, made it much further but brutal enemy placement and clunky platforming kills the game. Might come back to it but there's so many more games I'd rather play.

Titanfall 2 honestly has the most hype campaign I've ever played. Relatively short and fast-paced, but the devs made sure that every second counted.

Abandoned because of bugs, and I've heard that the game is near impossible to complete on PC. There's only so many hoops I'll jump through to get a game I'm barely sold on working. If this game had GTA V's tech or was more stripped down and closer to San Andreas, it would be great, but like a lot of early Xbox 360/PS3 era games, it goes for realism, except it looks terrible and it's clunky, a byproduct of being an open world game in 2008.

I know how mixed Cyberpunk's reception is, but man, this has gotta be in my top 5 of all time.

Pretty cool concept for the first hour but the level design is so tedious, even for a metroidvania.

Annoying shield enemies are a real issue with the aim targeting as well.

Shelved this one but probably won't pick it back up.

Really messed up addition to Outlast's story, but provides more depth on the events of Outlast. Loved the enemy encounters in this one but I really wish it were longer.

Classic survival horror, very tense throughout the entire game. The only criticisms I have are the length, some sections could have been fleshed out more, and the fairly low difficulty (there were some missed opportunities with a particular enemy(s) AI).

2018

Really great boomer shooter. Controversial but I'd rank it higher than Quake (father of 3D shooters) and other recent games like ULTRAKILL.
