The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Arkansas

One of the best works of fiction ever. I wish I could recommend it to people without making them play through all the bad shit the series had until now

Rating: D-

This game has a good start.

Rating: A
A small cast with every character getting excellent scenes, not a single boring chapter, returning characters that don't ruin the pacing and only get focus when they actually have something to do with them (which isn't that rare in this game, and even one of the series' oldest characters has this game as their best appearance), excellent finale, Angelica Rogner - this game has it all.

Rating: C
The best 5% of this game is Trails at its best. The worst 90% of this game is Trails at its worst. What this averages to depends on how much you care about good and bad stuff.

Rating: E-
An overly large cast the game doesn't know what to do with, a country filled with a million uninteresting locations, a bunch of optional romances none of which ever grow into anything meaningful, the usual allusion to good writing later instead of doing anything now - welcome to the bald steel arc of trails series.

Rating: C-
The first like 2/3 of the game is a few nice ideas surrounded by mostly nothing. The last 1/3 is a bunch of truly great ideas mixed with a bunch of truly awful writing.
Has one of the funniest bad characters ever.

Rating: F
This game innovates the Sky FC formula by mixing the lack of writing with bad writing.

Rating: B+
Great game, does a lot of stuff I love to characters who haven't done much in previous parts. If this game wasn't this good I would've dropped the series here.
I think it largely helps that it can focus on specific scenes it actually wants to write without pointless filler or saving half of the content for the next game.

Rating: C+
The first half of the game is boring. After The Reveal at the end of FC, this game follows it in the most generic way possible. The second half has a whole bunch of good moments including a few great ones, but still it's not that impressive overall.

Rating:E
Extremely bland. They clearly didn't have enough ideas for two entire games so most of Sky FC is spent vaguely alluding that good writing will happen later. There are a few bright ideas but they are extremely rare.
That said, there isn't any real bad writing here. The game just doesn't try 99% of the time.
