Only gripes with this game is that the multiplayer balancing gets more unpredictable the higher level you are, the campaign power balancing gets more unpredictable the higher level you are, the AI gets more unpredictable the higher level you are, and I can't play past campaign levels again because I just want to win something for once.

It looks really good, it's decently fun, but guess what?
It's a gacha game.
You earn cars by earning their respective cards. While you could at least grind to eternity on A8 to get cars, now this makes it an outright game of chance.
At least it has funny Reddit clips because of its wack physics engine.
Edit: It earns half a star for the decent split-screen mode. That being said, still p2w.

The game, when it first came out, was an groundbreaking and original game. There's really nothing to compare it with. Future games may have added adjectives, but they still derive heavily from the original game.
One of the best parts of the game, that I think a lot of people miss out on, is the joy of finding seemingly random objects that happen to be massively useful. Not every level has to be solved with a gun, Trex, and car, when you can use tommy gun, Shoggoth, and hovertank.

My only gripe about the legendary sandbox game is that Mojang seems to work at a glacial pace, without much community input; save the recent updates and bug tracking from Mojira.
Vanilla is kinda boring. I just feel like certain mods/plugins, such as OptiFine, TooManyItems, WorldEdit, Carpenter's Blocks, etc. don't seem that hard to implement into the actual game. Mojang has implemented popular mods before (the horse used to be a mod). I don't see why they can't go through the effort to implement some of the truly amazing mods out there. That would benefit their relationship with their community.

It used to be good. That was before GameLoft decided that tokens were the way to go, and made everything impossible to buy. To be the best, you now have to grind an thousands of hours to get a car that will be bad next month.
That being said, even the ordinary campaign and multiplayer lost its luster. I used to be able to get whatever car I wanted, and race it, and feel good about destroying noobs with it. Now, everything is a grind, a reminder that there really is no attainable endgame in a game that had past its heydays.
There's a better racing game gacha out there, it's called Asphalt 9.
