Even if you you're not a fan, this game stands on its own, despite paying tribute to old school beat em' ups like Final Fight and River City Ransom. You level up and obtain new moves, eat food to increase your stats and beat the SHIT out of everyone in an epic 4-player co-op while listening to some really awesome Anamanaguchi music. For the fans, it stays faithful to the aspects of the comics and some stuff from the movie as well. If you love games like Castle Crashers and such then check this too.

One of the best couch multiplayer games of the 7th gen. Up to 4 players pick from different classes with different spells, weapons, and familiars, then tear the shit out of everything on screen. You also level up to learn new skills and power up your abilities. Has some of the craziest boss fights of recent gens.

Mostly a strategy RPG, but allows you to manually control each unit on their turn, in third-person shooter form. A very anime story that dips into drama, romance and comic relief with a pseudo-magical wartime backdrop. Every recruit has their own traits and personality. Pleasant watercolor-like visuals and sound effects. Definitely a successful genre experiment with somewhat unbalanced difficulty (leaning towards overly easy), worth a look for SRPG or RPG fans.

Take Tony Hawk, make it more realistic, more slow-paced, and less arcadey, and you've got the Skate series.

Basically Grand Theft Auto IV, except without the brown and seriousness. If you like any Grand Theft Auto before IV you'll probably like this. Also, it has an awesome character creator.

The PC port is the worst fucking PC port known to man.

PlatinumGames-developed spin-off to MGS where you play as cyborg-ninja Raiden (as seen in MGS4). The story ties into the broader MGS canon, but is way sillier. The main focus is on the fantastic character-action gameplay, which is not unlike DMC or Bayonetta. One of the best games of its kind, with particularly memorable boss battles and substantial challenge. Has a pumping nu-metal butt-rock soundtrack. Features lots of DLC missions, including some where you play as other characters.

A violent action game from Grasshopper, written by Suda51. Play as assassin Mondo Zappa as he goes on a revenge tour through a wild neo-noir setting. The gameplay is an ok combo-based slasher, but the aesthetic and music is classic Grasshopper fair and worth it for that alone.

First game was famous for having infinite potential that it didn't live up to. This one comes much closer to that potential. Run around a huge ass tropical island as a Latino Spiderman while doing insane stunts with your mechanical wire and blowing shit up, just 'cause you can. Pretty good Sandbox shooter with a massive world, the biggest flaw of the game is the god-awful, hilarious voice acting.

The PC version can be played in multiplayer thanks to dedicated modders.

You play as the Goddamn Batman. That's reason enough to play it. Unlike the sequels, it's more of a 3D metroidvania than an open-world romp. Besides, it's fucking awesome. It's so awesome that it had an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records, before being supplanted by Arkham City (no, seriously, go look it up).
Contains additional content compared to other versions.

Pick a 40 story tall monster and kick the shit out of another, equally huge, classic movie monster ripoff. Each one has a completely unique appearance, feel, and moveset. Matches involve 2-4 monsters duking it out in a fairly large assortment of "arenas" full of environmental hazards like tidal waves and earth quakes. Fully destructable environments, complete with tiny screaming people, make you feel like a 140ish foot tall killing machine. Topping off the cake is some of the most fun multiplayer in existence. There's also a few entertaining minigames, and a couple of badass boss battles. A hugely unappreciated classic.

Silly action game where you play as a zombie with a host of corpse-based abilities and the power to "turn" hapless humans, eventually commanding a small army of the undead. Has a Happy Days-inspired, faux-fifties setting, and a great sense of humor.

The game that kicked off the indie roguelike and platformer craze. Tight controls that let you navigate randomly generated dungeon levels to survive and try and get as deep as you can. A classic.

Explore beautiful landscapes and form a closer bond with a fellow player you never talk to. One of the best "walking simulators" ever made.

An adorable throwback to the PS1/N64 era 3D platformers. Collect various hats that provide different powers in order to stop a motley crew of weird characters and power your timeship. Fun gameplay and oozes charm.

A neat game where you fall down randomly generated vertical levels with guns attached to your boots with the end goal of making it through while racking up combo points. Really challenging to do well but really satisfying when you do.
