Absolutely incredible shmup. I'm so-so on body horror, but this is somehow equal parts grotesque and beautiful. Every so often, I'm completely captivated by the spectacle of it all, even after playing through most modes multiple times.

I generally go for cute hard games like Celeste and Touhou (and just cute stuff in general), but something about grinding mountains of flesh with the killer Metal soundtrack of Mission Fallen really does it for me.

I would recommend this game for beginners and pros alike. The barrier for entry is very low but it's also engaging at a higher level.

Despite being touted as a "skeletal shmup", this game is quite beefy, with a ton to explore in the menus for ships and modes that offer very different experiences (though once you go Evil, you'll never go back).

10/10 Would chomp on skeletons again.

My absolute favorite SMW hack. Just perfect.

Super Wagon World was some of the most fun I've ever had playing video games

Another wonderful entry in the When They Cry series. I believe in Phase 2.

I absolutely loved this VN. It was dark, funny, and even a little touching and gay.

The scene direction is incredible, with a ton of CGs, and the music is great. It had me cracking up regularly.

Seriously, incredible game.

This is everything I could ask for in a jigsaw puzzle game. Love it so much.

I didn't finish it because I wasn't feeling what it was doing where I quit, but I loved everything up to that point. I just wanted to protect Aoi.

The whole final act of this arc was incredible. Made me fall in love with the game. Can't wait to get through Heaven's Feel.

Back in 2018 or so, I played All-Star Carnival and tweeted at Square-Enix that they should put it on the Switch because the controls would lend themselves well to modern consoles. Well, here we are in 2023 and they've done it and more.

Absolutely incredible game, easy 10/10. I would say "Get it if you love Final Fantasy or rhythm games" but my ex wasn't into either and she fell in love with Curtain Call. I guess just, if you like music, check it out.

Unbelievably good. Maniac is my go-to difficulty on Mushi now and on here, the scoring is nuts. So much fun. I said Mushihimesama was a 100/100 game and well, I would say this one is too.

I've been playing shmups pretty much since I started playing games in the 80s. It's one of the genres nearest and dearest to my heart, to the extent that I made one myself. For some reason, there's always been this block around Cave games for me. Like I wasn't good enough for them. Well, I finally, after all this time, played Mushihimesama, and it was all I could have asked for. This is a 5/5, 10/10, 100/100 perfect game. If you want to play a shmup, play this one. Also play Thunder Force V and Touhou: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, but first and foremost, play this game.

Incredibly convoluted story (in a good way) with some big hype action moments and an emotional ending. I had a good time with it. Looking forward to the other routes.

A thrilling tale of magic, with incredible visuals, and great characters in fantastic slice-of-life scenes. Easy 5/5 for me.

This was my first foray into the Nasuverse and I am definitely going to have to check out more!

Umineko is a heartfelt and thoughtful game. It does not challenge you to think, as an adversary. It invites you to think, gently, lovingly, as a companion. Despite being a kinetic visual novel (one lacking choices), it is not a passive, one-way story. Umineko is a dialogue between you, the reader, and Ryukishi07. He wants your input. He wants your contribution to its world.

Even as far back as Higurashi chapter 1, Ryukishi07 encourages hypothesizing. He takes the reader’s hand and walks through possibilities to get you thinking. Umineko goes a step further and shines a spotlight directly on the thought process.

This is not to say that Umineko is purely heady. Those who read between the red are rewarded with a beautiful story about magic and what it is to be human, to be flawed, to hurt and be hurt, and most of all, to love.

If you love horror, mysteries, love stories, or just fiction in general, this is a top tier story you absolutely do not want to miss.

A cute, sweet sci fi story that is also a gigantic ad for geocaching
