I have played this game from front to back, and I have to say, one of the most frustrating games I have ever played. In classic Bethesda style, it isn't afraid to make you ridiculously over-powered early on in the game. Even earlier if you know where everything is. Most perks are just stat increases with little variety, factions are fucking annoying, and the main story is hilariously flat. One of my favorite things about open-world games is being able to skip major portions of the main quest line if you know where stuff is. Fallout 4 has none of that. On repeated playthroughs when you want to get to the good stuff, you have to do the exact same missions with little completion variety.
However, since it's a gamebyro game, you can mod out frustrating parts. There are some, but it's not major improvements to make it playable for me. (Stable framerates in Boston and Corvega, making the minutemen fun, finding Kellogg without Nick Valentine, ect.)

An amazing Fallout New Vegas mod. It fixes some of Fallout 3's balance and restores cut content, but I think the fixes for 3 weren't enough. (Operation Anchorage being available from the start, Unbalanced 3 DLC perks, Perk every level.) However, none of it was enough to make me stop playing. Try it out if you own both games and want something new.
