Feels like a true love letter to not just the Jet Set Radio series but to the 2000s aesthetic as a whole. The music selection here also slaps (shoutouts to Precious Thing by Olli). I did find the heat system to be a bit annoying and disruptive to the gameplay flow, especially towards the latter half of the game's campaign.

Also the modding scene is partially the reason as to why I got around to trying this lol

The best 7/10 game I've played. There's a lot that works here, but also a lot that falls short, such as the cyberspace levels with their limited movement and serious lack of visual variety (which you can really say for the game in general) and a combat system that is, while fun and provides plenty of flashy moves, can ultimately be pretty mindless if you can figure out a certain combo sequence early on. Nonetheless, the story does do a great job of giving these characters their overdue redemption arcs (particularly for my boy Tails), though the conclusion felt somewhat rushed towards the end. And really just exploring the island and finding all the goodies through the short platforming sequences sprinkled throughout every island was a lot more satisfying than I anticipated.

It has some decent one-off gimmicks for each of its five worlds, but beyond that Empire of Dreams is very average puzzle-platformer that doesn't really do anything new or innovative for the series.
