when you rearrange the letters in the title, you get "hernia suspensorium," which is how i feel when i play this game

A short, fun game.
For this review I'll just talk about the shine mechanic. The way I see it, it does 3 things: reflect bullets, absorb bullets (giving you special ammo types), and movement. Each of these actions shares one button and one meter. But reflecting bullets is almost never better than absorbing them, so it's kind of a useless option. Absorbing the bullets uses more meter, but it gives you ammo that's much more powerful and fun to use than the infinite default ammo. My main problem is the movement from shine sharing a meter with the reflection/absorption: The fastest way to move is to spam shine until you're out of meter, and keep spamming it when you're out so you don't gain it back.
When replaying a game, I usually like to try to complete it quickly using my knowledge from previous playthroughs, but doing so in SLDL means i rarely use the absorption ability. The movement itself is fun, but it doesn't feel very dynamic (except for when using the ice bullets, that shit is goated).
It's absolutely worth it for a dollar though, it's a really neat little game with great boss fights and a surprisingly fun story, despite (or maybe because of) how its presented. I didn't really care for Yuuto Ichika mode or the arena mode but they're neat additions.
Looking forward to more from this developer.

probably the worst game of all time. kino

ill write an actual review at some point

A fun story with great, innovative and unique gameplay. Brought down by its confusing overworld (exacerbated by its lack of a functional map), repetitive and confusing overworld missions, and linking some (optional) parts of progression to real time. I really wish I could have given this game 5 stars, but it has too many problems.

Still one of my favorite games.

I still think that Milky Way Wishes is the most fun version of the Kirby formula so far. One of the best Kirby games.

It's a pretty awful port. There's a fight in which there's a neutral monster character, and for some reason, after completing the game once on any save file it replaces his main weapon with a gun. Actually, it replaces his entire gear set with Plenair's. Not sure why this happens. As a monster character, when he tries to use the gun, the game crashes. You can get around this by having one of your character's lifting him every turn. This is probably the most egregious issue with the game, but there are a lot more. You're probably better off playing it on PS2.

For a Disgaea game, it has a decent story. You really should be able to skip cutscenes, considering that there's no "post-game" state and you immediately replay the game upon getting an ending.

It's lacking in post-game content compared to later Disgaea games, but getting to the post game is nice and easy due to easily accessible good grinding stages (CoO3 and Demonhall Mirror are both a 3x3 grid) and the ease of obtaining statisticians (I HATE FELONIES I HATE FELONIES). It's probably the best experience you'll have with a Disgaea game (out of the ones on PC) other than maybe 5.

I wrote this with people who have already played another Disgaea title in mind. So I didn't go over the game itself much. If you're here, you probably already know about the core gameplay loop of disgaea. The lack of a cheat shop really hurts it (especially because you have to pass enemy bills), but other than that I have no real complaints.
