This is the worst game I've played to completion. Took about 20 hours with @madeinheathen and most of it sucked. There was some funny stuff like $14 Chinese man with long cooking hat poster, but everything else except maybe the end of Chris's campaign and the Jake's campaign just suck. Jake actually had other things to do besides the main horrific gunplay so it had some fun moments, and Piers is actually a decent character surprisingly. Leon and Ada's campaigns on the other hand really suck and we played those two one after the other making it feel even worse. At least Ada's is shorter in the end.

Overall just a horrible game and ragging on it with a friend makes it a little better but truthfully not enough to justify playing it. Avoid this at all costs and if you want a co-op Resident Evil just play 5.

First off, I got this game from this perpetual Steam game giveaway which I highly recommend checking out!

Anyways this game is...not great. It just doesn't feel too good. I'm not super good at kart racers or racers in general really, but I wanted something to fill the Mario Kart gap on my Steam Deck and this works kinda. I also will say the I consider playing every track beating the game which is what I did.

The game has some incredibly uninspired level design with only one being kind of memorable being one Egyptian themed level which there are a weirdly high amount of? Anyways, the levels as a whole just are very uninteresting. They have very basic twists and turns and no map to see what they look like overhead, making them seem more arbitrary and bland. Yet this isn't the main issue as I think that belongs to the general feel of the game.

Overall the acceleration and turning feels pretty good, actually. Some of the items are pretty decent as well, though definitely not all. That's more or less where the positives end however as the game has some weird issues. If you drive into another kart you kinda just attach to it and stay behind it as opposed to how it feels like there's a wedge in front of you in something like Mario Kart that keeps that from happening. You can also just get stuck on a wall, forcing you to have to back away from the wall the start accelerating again afterwards. This bit is mostly fine actually, just not what I'm used to in a kart racer and feels very punishing. The 'checkpoints' are also very odd. For example, if you drive off the track, instead of the game putting you forward away from the obstacle you will be put at the beginning of it and forcing you to attempt it again, breaking the pace of the race. Finally, the drifting feels super odd to me. There's times the game will just randomly stop you from drifting if you nearly drive off a ledge. It can feel very frustrating and feel like you don't have proper control over your kart when things like this happen.

This is a pretty slapshot review I'm aware but there's just so much wrong with this game that it's hard to organize my thoughts. Overall, this game just isn't great and I recommend you play another Kart racer even if you're a Garfield fan or something. Hopefully if they make a third game it's better than this one.

Fun silly DLC and a better co-op experience than the other one. Josh was very funny and it felt like he was only there because nobody else could be at the time. Troy and I also skipped the first cutscene because it was seemingly the same as the main game, but after getting into the DLC...I don't think it was. I don't care enough to know though. I recommend with a friend.

Meh. This game is meant to be played solo with co-op as a huge afterthought I think. The role played by Jill is a lot more important than the role played by Chris hence I think Troy and mine's difference of opinion even though we played together. He didn't realize that he could let me into a room at the beginning of the mansion so there was just a large amount of time with me waiting while he tried to figure out the piano. Overall, it's fine. It's not scary at all and the slow opening doors do not work in co-op at all and are just incredibly annoying. I love how the game makes you feel powerless, but I don't like that with Wesker you just have to wait because there is nothing indicating that's what you have to do, unlike the main game where he says seven minutes.

First game I played through on my Steam Deck and it was great. I played 3 ages ago and after playing this I don't get why people act like 3 is such a step down from this game. I really don't like much of the stuff level design wise outside of the RPD stuff. Luckily, that's most of the game so the sewers don't drag it down too much. I also only did the Leon A route, I started Claire B but I didn't really care enough to play through the game again so soon especially when I don't really like how she plays or how little agency she has. I also watched this game on YouTube when it came out so I'm not exactly itching to play it again.

Banger little indie game. Awesome ass vibe in music and is honestly nearly perfect. It has really no flaws in the game design, but it's also not crazy deep. It would be really cool if the game got multiplayer or something at some point because the only real issue and reason this game isn't 5 stars is because the AI can be really dumb and isn't quite challanging enough. This game is beatable in about 10-15 minutes, so keep that in mind if you're thinking about purchasing it. It also has a hard mode which unlocks after finishing it that I am about to play. This is an easy recommendation for me. Make sure to play with headphones on max volume to get the true experience.

This is a pretty fun game. Played it with Mr. Troy and we both liked it pretty much the same amount I think. We did have different backgrounds though, as I'm pretty sure this was his first Resident Evil game. I've played quite a few though including 4 and it's remake. This works pretty well as a sequel to that game, but if you're expecting nearly the same quality of that game, you're pretty much just gonna have a bad time. It is significantly more shallow and quite a bit easier due to the insane over-abundance of ammo. I was pretty varied throughout the entire playthrough, trying to use different guns at all times, and by the time of the final boss I had accumulated around 25 Rifle ammo, 100 pistol ammo, 40 shotgun, and around 15 magnum ammo. Troy spent all his money like every sub-chapter on explosive rounds for the grenade launcher though. He pretty much only used that and the stun rod when they both became available and there was a LOT of friendly fire. The strategy was pretty effective though so I can't exactly complain. Next, this game does have some pretty crazy difficulty spikes towards the end. For example, the first Wesker fight took Troy and I an hour, and the final boss had this mashing sequence we had to potentially cheat to get out of and he still had tons and tons of health once we did it the other way. There was also this really slow and frustrating puzzle around halfway through the game that involved lasers and mirrors and if the laser touched you a single time you would die immediately. It got pretty annoying at times.

Overall even though it took us over (RESIDENT EVIL) 5 months to finish, it was a pretty fun time. There's some good moments in the level design, and Troy and I are certain that some of the late game stuff is directly inspired by Twin Snakes. I recommend this game if you like third person shooters and have a friend to play with, but I can't promise the game would be too fun solo.

Troy's Review: https://backloggd.com/u/madeinheathen/review/1513236/

Don't feel like leaving a full review right now so here

•Combat was very fun with everyone except maybe Red XIII and Tifa
•All the new stuff is hit or miss, but all the old stuff is just FFVII but better
•Open world is fun but I stopped caring by the end because it just becomes busy work. Still did everything in the world except for the final Gilgamesh stuff at sea.
•Ending was just so meh I didn't really care and I don't think I care for the direction part 3 will seemingly be going in

Would've been a 10/10 for me if the ending stuck the landing but it didn't really. Also I think of the nibelheim flashback as part of the demo and not the full game because it's really bad.

9/10

2020

Well, this game took me around two years to actually finish didn't it?

I had originally purchased this game with lots of hype behind it, as it was something I had wanted to play since 2020, and long story short, I stopped at around the last resort, then opening the game every once in a while for about a year, but not actually doing anything. Go back to about 8 or so months ago, I got to the start of Humphrey, only to stop again until about a week ago, as the power was out and Omori used very little of my Switch battery. I had been slowly working my way through the ending in the past week, but I think people may be wondering why this game took me so long and well...
It's because it's really boring...for the most part. Throughout most of the game nothing fucking happens. Yes, it is incredibly charming, and everything is obviously meant to have a deeper meaning, however it just adds so little to the plot except some character building. And the characters it is building throughout most of that time don't even matter, as they aren't even truly connected to the real ones and act very differently. There is more I could say about this, however since I have to mark the whole review as a spoiler instead of simply having a separate spoiler segment, I won't be doing so unless asked.
Anyways, this game has some very very high highs that end up elevating the entire experience to me. The ending hits very hard for literally anyone within the intended audience; the game has pretty decent turn-based combat; the music is very good; the drawn and animated segments are all very well done; and while the horror stuff stops being scary almost immediately, it has a pretty cool aesthetic that juxtaposes off the pixel artstyle in a cool and unique way; finally he ending was incredibly sad and heartfelt, just the entire ending sequence and final act was really.
Overall I enjoyed Omori, however there is a lot that just did nothing for me, as much as I had really wanted to enjoy every aspect about the game.

Great game. Have not finished it but I've gotten most of the way. I'll play it whenever I feel like and finish it when it happens. I'll update my review then, but this is just to get it out of my playing because I'm not actively playing it.

Man, this game is fucking awesome.

I don't have too much to say honestly other than a lot of the story being kinda filler feeling and not super necessary, but when you get to the final chapter it's just so incredibly good. Like it's gotta be one of my favorite final chapters in any LaD game, it's seriously that good. It had the best twist villain that felt like such a perfect culmination for his character, great supporting cast, and Kiryu was awesome. I think people who wanted Yakuza 6 to be more in line with the rest of the series will find that here in the final chapter. This feels like the prologue to the end of Kazuma Kiryu's story, which I'm hoping Infinite Wealth indeed is even if I have many doubts. The ending had made me cry more than any piece of media since I watched the "I wanna live" scene in One Piece. Kiryu is genuinely one of my favorite characters in fiction and this truly just did him wonders for his character. You can feel the tension and pain he's not allowing himself to feel throughout the entire game, and feel him bottling it up. Then when he starts crying in that final scene I was sobbing the entire time too. I'm genuinely getting teary eyed just thinking about it. I've played every mainline game in the series up to this point, and Yakuza 7 really left me how most others felt with Yakuza 6 (6 being my favorite game in the series) basically that it was a bit too disconnected for me and I wanted more Yakuza DNA in there. However, this game gave me what I wanted. It was perfect in that regard, though one thing I must say is that I cannot imagine this game, and Kiryu's character in it holding really any weight unless you've been there and seen every game with him honestly. This would be a terrible game to start with for the series. But that's fine because it's not supposed to be a new starting point.

Also onto the real negatives of this game. The combat is the worst it's been since Yakuza 3 and that's not a joke. I'm the ichiban (killing myself) Yakuza 3 defender but I know the combat in that game is NOT it. And it's the same with this one. A big problem is how many gun enemies there are. There really shouldn't be any in any modern LaD action game because they just suck ass and the fact that there's more than EVER was terrible. Can't think of too much else to say even though this review sucks, so I'll just do the new LaD ranking for the ones I've played.

Damn I've played a lot of these games. Onto Infinite Wealth and maybe we'll eventually go back to Lost Judgment.

I LOVE THIS GAME IT IS THE BEST FINAL FANTASY GAME BY A WIDE MARGIN. I honestly don't have too much to say about this one, at least tonight but maybe I'll collect my thoughts about it better soon and write more. Here's just a quick list of positives and negatives.

+Combat is really awesome and allows for so much customization.

-There really isn't much reason for you to explore and experiment with the combat. Also the game doesn't really reward combos in any meaningful way. Even a simple DMC grade at the top would've been nice.

+Story is absolutely top notch.

-Pacing is very very weak at times with many filler sections destroying tension build-up. I honestly recommend skipping through most of it, which I started to do towards the end.

+This is potentially the most realized fantasy world in a video game, and if it's not, it's one of the most.

-Sometimes the game doesn't do a good job explaining certain things, like how dominants blessings work or what the fallen are. The latter seems to be elaborated upon in the DLC.

+This game is absolutely jaw droppingly beautiful most of the time. Some awesome set pieces include literally any city with a mother crystal

-Traversing the world is incredibly slow, even after you get the chocobo. Especially since you can't ride it in settlements so you're just stuck being very slow in them

+Monster designs, spectacle, and enemies are on point. The absolute best iteration of every eikon that's in this game along with most of the enemies.

-Your main companion in the game that is almost always with Clive is a dog. It should have been a cat.

Very fun game with a good friend group. This game was a big help in reviving one of my mostly dead friend groups so I appreciate it for that a ton.

This game was pretty unexpected for me to play actually. I had fully intended to continue on with Sonic 3 or Final Fantasy XVI, however an opportunity arose to go on a spontaneous vacation and I took it. The person who's house I've been staying at has a PS5 and owns this game so I just decided I may as well play it while I'm here, so I did.

Long preamble aside, this game is very apparently old. In my opinion this era of video games have aged the most unfortunately at times and it's also in the time where I can't just say "Oh it's one of the first 3D games ever made, I can forgive some faults" (OoT) and I look at it with a more modern perspective.

This game first of all, visually looks really old. The game as a whole just doesn't look great and the lighting looks horrendous and is just blinding (in a bad way) at times. Next, all areas look pretty much the same being either a sparse wooded area, a street, a factory, or an old barn. And finally, the character models are mostly ugly and very lifeless with their facial animations, all coming together to make an experience that isn't exactly easy on the eyes.

Gameplay wise, this game really isn't the greatest either. It has an extraordinarily strong base which makes me very faithful that Alan Wake 2 will improve upon it in some great ways. However, as this game stands the gameplay gets really old very quickly. There really isn't much enemy variety and most enemies are taken out more or less the same way (point flashlight at them until they are vulnerable then shoot them 2-6 times). However there are two types that stand above the rest in terms of how ungodly annoying they are, being the possessed objects and light enemies. Many of the larger possessed objects are nigh on impossible for one to avoid when attempting to defeat or juke them as the timing is extremely hard to memorize and the window to dodge can be impossibly tiny. Next with the light enemies, these guys can just cross you with no warning only for them to stun-lock you and just immediately kill you if there are two in the vicinity. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it's also the light enemies that throw objects at you which are also generally bullshit as they home in on Alan and can be impossible to predict when they are coming unless you constantly have the camera turned in their direction which unfortunately is not possible. By the end I was pretty much just done. I started doing my best to run away from enemies instead of staying and fighting them just to get it all over with.

Finally the last subject I feel needs to be addressed is the story and characters (still no spoilers). The story overall is conceptually, extremely interesting. It has some really unique and interesting ideas that I can commend. The plot is basically as follows. Alan Wake is a writer with a bit of a temper who is happily married to a woman with a fear of the dark. Some things happen, Alan's wife has been taken by some mysterious dark force into a lake while they were on vacation. Alan decides to immediately dive into to try and find her. This then cuts forward to Alan waking up in a crashed car having blanked out on the past week, trying to find of what happened. As Alan is trying gets his bearings, he finds that his actions are seemingly pre-written in manuscript pages he finds along the floor of the forest. Gun and flashlight in hand, Alan attempts to find his wife while fighting any monsters of darkness along the way. This is a pretty cool premise as I said, however the conclusion is really very predictable and the story overall has a very high amount of filler that really just didn't need to happen. Like seriously, why was there a whole useless kidnapping sequence for a third of the game? I also can't say I particularly cared for most of the characters. The voice acting was very hammy which maybe was the point? I feel like the game was trying to go for a similar vibe to Resident Evil in which it does have some serious moments and scares but it's a fairly lighthearted and goofy horror story. However, unlike Resident Evil, it completely failed to make me scared even at moments I felt like the game was trying really hard. And this is coming from a person who gets scared when I hear Minecraft cave sounds.

I have a bit more to say but it's mostly small things that don't really need to be in this review as it's definitely long enough already. Overall, it's an alright PS3 game. But do not let anyone tell you it's anything near a masterpiece. This game simply had some cool ideas that really needed to be refined and expanded upon which is seemingly what happened in Alan Wake 2 which I am hoping to eventually play. I will most likely play Control first however, as that's in the same universe and as far as I understand at least a bit connected to Alan Wake.

I was originally going to give this game a 3/5 but as I wrote this review and realized how I truly feel about the game's issues, I'm giving it a 2.5/5.

This is the third game I played in the Sonic Origins collection. This one was just great almost all the way through. I enjoyed my time all the way up to Flying Battery.5. After that it was pretty much all downhill. For some reason the final boss really got to me and took me about two hours to beat. I get incredibly stressed when I can't make a single mistake so that caused me to make way more. This is actually my second time playing this game as well as I said before in my Sonic CD review, I played this on Switch online with rewind so I don't think it really counts. Anyways, I went through and actually got all the chaos emeralds (something i will not be doing in sonic 3) this time which was honestly pretty fun though also challenging. Glad I got infinite retries to do them too or else I would never get them done. I played through the game as sonic, as knuckles would probably be too different and I had already done sonic and tails in the past. Overall, a great game with a few frustrating bits at the end that knock it down from 4.5 to 4.0 to me. Truth be told, I've actually already started Sonic 3 and Knuckles, so I'll continue on with that. Hopefully it lives up to this game.
