All you do is shoot stuff, and I was never bored.

The always-online is the only thing stopping this from being one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

Very solid remake. The censorship additions are (imo) overshadowed by the better controls, some of the best visuals and sound on the original Xbox, and class-based pvp multiplayer. The online servers have since been revived via Insignia (https://insignia.live/), but you'll have to be lucky to find available matches, or join a community that schedules games.

Another example of a video game homage done right, along with a nice amount of content for the price. The game is also getting solid dev support as of 2024.

One of the best multiplayer games of its generation. Smooth, varied gameplay, great performance on a PS3, and active community servers on weekends. The game also has one of the best implementations of split screen that I've ever seen (ex. https://youtu.be/KvzjWt2H8WQ?t=91). Buying a new copy is also dirt cheap nowadays.
Having no offline offerings is a obvious minus, though.

After beating the game a few times, I spent a good five hours robbing stores. Wish the devs added more depth to that.

One of the most fun co op arcade games I've played

For a 2006 roguelike shooter, it's pretty solid.

The definitive way to play MGS3, even if it doesn't have the smooth performance that future rereleases have.
The online component is also being kept alive by dedicated fans via https://mgo1.savemgo.com/

I wish the amount of effort that was put into the art direction, audio, world/character building, and ending was put into the gameplay itself, which is pretty basic.

Closest you'll get to a Kill Bill tie-in game.
