The charm is still here in full. The improved controls, saving, and collectable tracking make for a much friendlier pick up and play experience. The levels are where I take issue. A majority I don't care for visually or gameplay wise. Add to that how many are similar in both regards and you end up with less stand outs. They're also sporadically placed throughout the warp rooms as opposed to having the natural progression seen in the first game. It feels more like a collection of new levels than a full fledged sequel.
