The Metal Gear Solid 4 of Stupid Co-Op Third Person Shooters. A cathedral built on a styrofoam foundation. A renaissance painting where the painter used a slim jim instead of a brush. Resident Evil: The Movie: The Game: The Movie: The Game.

Not as bad as people say. Resident Evil 6 is the furthest departure from the series survival horror roots with hardly any tension or scares. It's all action here.

In my opinion it's a generally mediocre action game and it's way too long for a Resident Evil game with me clocking in at around 26 hours playtime. Despite that I enjoyed this one more than RE5 due to the expanded moveset of the characters, the large variety of playable characters from across the series, and how streamlined and simple it is to play.

My ranking for the campaigns would be Leon has the best one then Jake then Chris and I think Ada's was the weakest. It can feel like a drag to get through but I think if you take breaks from the game in between campaigns then I think you can enjoy this one.

this game killed my family

didn’t even finish the game but my interest plummeted to I don’t care anymore, Wikipedia save me and onto RE7 and RE8 lol whatever maybe pick up it someday again and finish it when I have absolutely nothing left

This gotta be one of the worst games I've ever played. There is no redeeming factor about this game. There's no good gameplay. No good story. No good characters, neither new or old. It's all shit to be perfectly honest. But let's get over the good things! There are none.
It's baffling how they got out of RE5 and thought: "Hell yeah let's take a step even further in action games and make it all a huge pile of shit!"
Being honest to God I'm actually pissed off I spent R$50,00 on this game. There was no fun to be had. There was no joy, only pain. They ruined Leon's character, Chris is the most superficial he's ever been, who the FUCK cares about Jake and Sherry and OH MY GOD ADA WONG IS ACTUALLY THE WORST CHARACTER HERE. I swear I want to punch that woman in the face every time she opens her mouth, she speaks like she's on her own little fanfic inside her head. Being the only single player campaign in the whole game, they had to find some way to make her seem like an actual character right? NO! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF IT!!!!
2/10 I genuinely don't care anymore...

RE6 is a mess. The quality of the game is up and down like a see-saw from mission to misson. Leon's campaign is by far the best and feels like a re5 spinoff of uncharted but was fun from start to finish (last boss not included). Chris campaign is a gears of war knock off that suffers from a lot of my problems with the cover shooting in re5 but has been improved a decent amount in this entry. Jake's campaign is also really good in my opinion with the best character moments and Ada campaign acts as a way for the game to explain the story. The story is even more chaotic and unfortunately didn't find it to engaging besides Jake's campaign. This is a game I only recommend to people with someone to play it with as solo it's a tedious slog at times particularly Chris's campaign. Mercenary's mode is back along with another slew of modes to give you something to do if the 4 campaigns weren't enough to satisfy you. In conclusion RE6 can definitely be considered a bad game but there is just enough good here to have a good time with a friend.

Let me preface this review with insight on my relationship with Resident Evil 6. The year was 2012, I just played Resident Evil 5 for the first time and loved almost everything about it. The gameplay was phenomenal, the new 3×3 real time inventory management and melee combat systems and the best mercenaries mode yet. So when I saw the first trailer for Resident Evil 6, I knew I had to play it. Surely Capcom wouldn't take advantage of my innate gullibility.

October 2012 would be the most disappointing month of my life until November 29th 2016.(Final Fantasy 15’s release date) Resident Evil 6 would come out with mixed reception among critics and fans. While the honeymoon phase would last a while longer, most people realized the truth of Resident Evil 6. That truth being, Resident Evil 6 encapsulated the essence of a dumpster fire more than any other piece of media.

When you hear the phrase “dumpster fire” or “worst game of all time” you most likely take the claim with heavy amounts of salt, due to the oversaturation of the phrases. But when I tell you that Resident Evil 6 is the worst game I have ever played, I must assure you; it is no exaggeration. From the graphics to the sound design and the gameplay, every aspect of Resident 6 is either half-baked or just plainly bad.

Resident Evil 6 has the ugliest, most dated graphics, that every game in the 2012 aimed for. A pseudo realistic art style that was simply impossible to pull off in the seventh generation of consoles. The worst part of the graphics is the lighting. Every level is too dark and the colors blend in too well since the only colors in this game are brown. Every asset in the game looks washed out with colors ranging from gray to mustard.

Out of all my complaints, this one is the most flimsy. The complaint being the absurdity of the story. While the Resident Evil games have not been known for their realism and accuracy to real life laws. In Resident Evil 1. The story was grounded with the characters being relatively human. In Resident Evil 4 and 5 we see the absurdity rising at unprecedented rates, with re4’s jet ski escape and Chris punching boulders. However, these events seem trivial compared to Resident Evil 6’s abundance of random and spontaneous car crashes and even a plane crash! There is at least one unexplained plot convenience in every scene in this game. From the military magically knowing exactly where the main characters are, the completely unrelated airplane the main characters take happen, to get infected with the virus, and lastly the final boss happens to teleport across the country to the exact area the main characters happen to be. It's actually jarring when you look out for them.

If there was one good thing I could say about Resident Evil 6, it would be that it is extremely ambitious, but being too ambitious is a curse. The best example of this is the crazy amount of campaigns in this game. There are 4 campaigns with 5 chapters, each an hour long. Games in the end of the seventh generation had this competition trying to make the “biggest” game. You can obviously tell where the developers were stretched thin. If only the game had 2 campaigns, maybe the game could have ironed out the many half-baked or hastily made decisions.

Now, my biggest criticism of Resident Evil 6. The gameplay and the lack of “co-op” in this co-op action game. Now, some would say the lack of scary moments is Resident Evil 6’s greatest sin. I, however, am in the “Resident Evil has never been a scary” camp.
— The removal of the ability to share items and heal your teammates is genuinely baffling. I fail to see one reason why it was removed other than the reason “the developers did not balance the game around sharing items”.
— The implementation of a stamina bar also confuses me. Why punish the player for having good aim? And at the same time add quick shot and barrel rolls? The game seriously lacks direction in how the gameplay is supposed to be. It tries to balance melee combat with long range gun fights due to the multiple campaigns and the enemy variety in them.
— The removal of the 3×3 grid and implementation of a confusing and lacking inventory system, missing key features.

In conclusion, my experience with Resident Evil 6 was absolutely dreadful. The levels are long and bland, the music is timid and forgettable, the graphics give meaning to the insult “PS3 game”, and lastly the gameplay is the opposite of fun. It takes a lot to make a co-op game boring, but somehow Resident Evil 6 pulls it off. I rate Resident Evil 6, half star out of 5. Skip Resident Evil 6 and go straight to Resident Evil 7 (This game isn't even canon anymore lol).

this game is fun. the controls take some learning but you can just go wild with it

A game that is far, FAR too big for its own good. It tried to appease everyone with the multiple campaigns - 'survival horror' fans with Leon's, chase monsters and spy movies with Jake's, Call of Duty with Chris', and staring at a hot woman's arse for a few hours with Ada's.

In doing so, it appealed to basically nobody, and VASTLY overstays its welcome with the painfully long runtime. Has a lot of content, but at what cost, I tell you? What cost?!

Porradaria, explosões e muito quicktime events

Finished Coop; Great with Friends lots of wackiness lol Resident Evil the Action Game. Jumped the Shark on this one.

Dumb as rocks. An idiosyncratic mess of ideas all intended to be as broadly appealing as possible to everyone with a bank account. It rules. I'm wrong, but I don't care.

i had sm fun playing this even though it has its problems. the character arcs are easily the best things about it and some of my faves in the franchise. ada's specifically is my #1 and IMO the most important in the game itself. it brings everything together and is an amazing arc for her character. it proves she could have her own game even though it is something I've been rooting for for ages.

chris and piers campaign also stuck out to me as the strongest and leons was fun as well! ada and leon's relationship in this was beautiful in this and i loved seeing how they developed from previous games. some parts of the game were really annoying or clunky to play though and the storyline can feel like a bit of a mess but it didn't stop me from having fun like re5 did. overall i think the game is over-hated and ada is very underrated in this.

literal antithesis of fun i cant recall a single moment when i was unironically enjoying this confused tedious slog.. SRY for the negativity but this game just does not do it 4 me !

1 star for sherry birkin 🫶 wish you got to lead a better game girl

Essa sequência consegue ser tão fraca quanto seu antecessor, esfregando na sua cara o cansaço da fórmula ação/terror. Ainda é divertido em sua gameplay mas esse igualmente ao 5, só tem isso de favorável.

This would’ve been so much more fun if they just gave me and my friend more ammo. You can’t have survival amount of ammo if you design your game to be action focused. Actually I can’t even say they designed this game with that intent because it’s all over the place and doesn’t know what it wants to be. What a wacky game, and I can say for a fact there has not been a single moment in my life where I’ve seen the RE6 logo and haven’t thought that’s a mf giraffe getting a bj.

RE6 may have some issues but at the end of the day it's a really fun game. It's not the best RE game. It's long and overbloated. It's story is weaker than most and is way over the top in the most bombastic and cheesy ways. There is a lot to make you roll your eyes.

However when taking the game for what it is, it's a solid action game. A pretty unique third person shooter. It has a lot of focus on shooting, running, diving, doing back flips, meeleing and precise countering. The sheer amount that you can do is really cool. I know it's a little too hard on the action side than what most people want from an RE game. Still I can't ignore it's still one of the best co op games out there next to RE5. So many returning characters and different scenario's to play. It's a blast. Feels like something platinum games would have made. The more I play this game over the years the more I appreciate it and all of it's flaws. The things I don't like honestly don't nearly matter as much anymore to me. I can see why action RE fans like this title a lot.

PS I also loved this versions Sherry. What a cool way to reintroduce her. That and I really liked Chris's campaign.

Platinum #46

It's kinda impressive. This game has 4 campaigns, each with different lead characters, some different story focuses, slight differences in primary set pieces, and they're ALL terrible. This game throws everything at the wall and almost nothing sticks.

I liked the Leon segment but the rest of this game is a chore to get through, I have no idea what they were thinking in turning the game into a generic action game.

I'm calling it after completing Leon's story and playing some of Ada's (I will likely finish soon and MAYBE try the other campaigns but Chris is just such a lame and boring character I have no motivation to even try).

After playing this game, it is abundantly clear to me that, 1) 6 is not a terrible game like everyone says, 2) it is leagues better than 5, and 3) it is an obvious follow up to 4, with similar mechanics and thematic and design elements, cementing the idea that 5 is some sort of body snatcher, it has no real connection to the series.

That being said, is this an awesome game? No. Does it fail as a follow up to 4, yes. Does it fail as a game? No. The idea is fine, it is clear that Capcom devs hate survival horror, evidenced by their continued efforts to trick people into thinking they want their RE games to be more run-and-gun or rail-shooter and less horror even in 2024, but at least here, unlike with 5, there is a concerted effort to retain the essence of Resident Evil. There are at least a few attempts to throw in some jump scares (since the survival element is taken out), and that's acceptable, even if I don't personally like it.

Bottom line: 0-4, 7-8 > 6 > all the side games and spinoffs > most everything else > 5 > Silent Hill: The Short Message.

A terrible game I could not stop playing

For as much as I groaned at the story and dialogue, I still had a great time playing online with a friend. The extra character movement was neat, but perhaps the game lacked situations where it could be applied better.

Anyway, if you have a co-op buddy this is a must-play.

The Bohemian Rhapsody of video games.

good game, i personally would recommend it but it depends if you like it. i liked playing this game better to be played multiplayer than single player.

i honestly disliked one mission because it glitched me, everytime i spawned i died for no reason and it glitched my trophy so i had to restart the level a few times.

i have never realized how much the decision to not have UI on the screen at all time helped with immersion and the horror undertone, especially with how prominent it is here, this is just a silly COD expansion now

Definitely weird, to say the least.
