Pretty great kart racer, honestly. Why the fuck is Yogscast and Danica Patrick here though??

This is my favorite racing video game and one of my favorite video games of all time, it's awesome

Sonic goes vroom even if he don't need it, but it's good

Sonic and All Star Racing: Transformed may have sucked out a lot of diversity and originality out of the first one, but in return we got an even better kart racing game mechanic that makes even Mario Kart blush blue shells. With the ability to virtual do anything with a group of friends, an extensive campaign, large amount of unlock-able content, and the stellar stunt and drifting controls; Transformed really lives up to its name sake by changing the way we should look at kart racing. Overall this is one of the most pleasant games to not only imitate a formula from a previous series, but also improve greatly on it's premise; if you have any interest in this game get it.

alongside crash team racing nitro fueled, i'm forever going to be angry that mario kart is more popular than this when it genuinely feels so much more fun to play. not to mention the arcade-y aesthetic, dynamic track designs, and music just slap so hard.

and heavy from TF2 is a playable racer in the pc port. also ryo races in a outrun cabinet.

Why is this racing game so damn good? Had a blast while playing it.

Sega smash bros but it's racing and it's awesome

Goddamn, I forgot how GOOD this game was. An honest-to-god S-tier kart racer.

Never has a kart racer given the thrill of constantly being on your toes and considering the next move to make. Learn the short cuts and how to optimize flip tricks, learn how your movements dodge items. Such immense satisfaction that has never been reached again.

Easily one of the best kart racers ever made.

Race car driver Danica Patrick is my favorite Sonic character

An amazing alternative to Mario Kart. The transform gimmick is perfect to stir things up, that combined with the easy to understand handling makes for one of the best kart racers of all time. The online component of the game is really fun and local play is just as entertaining.

Sonic is in this. So is a real, living NASCAR racer. So. I didn't know what to think of this as a kid. But it had wreck it ralph!!!

would you guys believe me if said you could use wreck it ralph to send an army of giant wasps after danica patrick in this game

Ok, tbh? I really liked it at the times for being an alternative Mario Kart with awesome graphics. Returning a decade later and...yeah, game didn't age well, especially on the physics and balacing. I definitely got spoiled by MK8DD (which improved the base game).

Peak version still since you can play as SEGA mascots, Wreck-it Ralph and TF2 Pyro/Heavy/Spy.

all star vanilla is better

EDIT: I changed my mind, this is the best kart racer.

Not only the best kart racer, but the best racing game period.
Controls great, all the items are balanced, lots of single player content and a large variety of characters from different SEGA franchises to unlock.
What really makes it the GOAT though, is the transforming karts and tracks. There are only a few race tracks where all 3 laps are the same, all the others change mid race thus making them much more interesting than every other kart racer where all laps are exactly the same.

Despite not knowing a lot of the SEGA characters, I had a lot of fun with this game. The changing course designs and drifting/transformation gameplay mechanics are arguably better than Mario Kart and it actually has a single player mode; even though it’s half baked, I still enjoyed it and it’s better than the little single player content Mario Kart games have to offer. If you are at all a fan of cart racers I recommend you check this out, it usually goes on sale on Steam for pretty cheap.

yeah this still holds up shockingly well

also featuring my man Ryo Hazuki

This game is an actual good kart racer, wtf. The stages, music, roster, and campaign are all pretty dope and leave a lot for you to play around with and master. All the game needed was Kazuma Kiryu and it would've been perfect.

One of the best Kart racers I've ever played. The mechanics are simple and very rewarding to master. You'll be going at absurd speeds once you get the hang of it.
The race tracks are all excellent love letters to the games they were based off of and it even shows in its glorious soundtrack.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a more skill based Kart racer or any SEGA fans that haven't already played it.

.......ehh. I tried really hard to like it but nothing beats Mario Kart.

hate the plane and boat segments I just want to race cars
