The ps2 version is a ok open world for the console.

Top 10 GTA Alternatives For Your Children

unfortunately its just not good :(

This is purely out of nostalgia, as im pretty sure this game is quite bad in the modern times, but I was addicted to this game as a child.

Take Spider-Man 2, remove a little of the good, sprinkle in some more of the bad, and ban, you’ve got Spider-Man 3. A good enough time, but not as good as 2

couldnt get past the first mission

it's like spider-man 2! but worse in every way! awesome!

quase não aguentei terminar a versão de xbox 360, a de ps2 é mais ou menos

Narratively, this is a fascinating artifact. So disjointed and surreal it almost feels like the fever dream of a deeply sick crew member recalling their time working on the movie. Obviously rushed to be released at the same time as said movie and yet they completely forgot to incorporate anything from it into the game. Every single villain in the Spider-Man universe seems to be crammed in here and when the developers were ready to put this onto shelves they realized they completely forgot to include any of the major characters from the movie and just haphazardly threw them in there.

How else can you explain why they're given so little time here? If you knew nothing about the movie you would have no idea why all the climatic moments in this are centered around characters with almost no prior build-up. Without the opening and closing monologues that just flat out explains the entire Raimi series and Spider-Man's philosophy nothing here would make sense. Harry, a MAJOR part of the movie(s), only has two moments in this (both moments that the game INSISTS are majorly important) outside the opening monologue and when all is said and done we don't even know the fate of his character. He's just swatted off the screen by a strangely dummy thicc Venom and that's the last we see of him. No reconciliation with Spider-Man/Peter, not even a whisper of him in the closing monologue. He's just gone. Like where the hell did he go? Why did they put him in this??

The climatic finale taking place in a construction site that was surrounded by hundreds of bystanders in the movie is left completely barren here as Spider-Man and New Goblin battle it out with Venom and a GIANT Sandman (mind you, like Harry, this is only the second time the game has you interact with both Sandman and Eddie/Venom). The only person there to care is Mary Jane being her useless self (and that's okay) while bystanders are literally driving right next to the site giving it no attention whatsoever and it couldn't be any funnier how much the game doesn't give a shit about any of it. The game will dedicate four or five missions to each of its own villains but anything from the movie gets one mission after every 30 missions of the game's own. Almost feels like the developers had some kind of vengeance at Sony and purposefully sidelined the movie in favor of their own (boring yet hilarious) stuff. They're game developers working for a major company so it definitely wouldn't be shocking if they had any hostility towards the heads during the making of this.

Nonetheless, bless these developers. Entire game is a combination of rushed & "who fucking cares" with enough effort put into the existent yet non-existent narrative that it hits that peculiar line in the middle of "so bad it's good" and "they actually meant for this to be like this". You can really melt your mind thinking about how this one came to be. Was never not having a good time listening to these iconic characters they've made unbelievably deranged. Highlights of the game are that dummy thicc Venom and when you go idle while wearing the black suit Peter will eventually start screaming for no reason which is probably the only worthwhile gameplay in this. The slow motion dodge button makes the game stupid easy and if you don't use it some sections are almost impossible. Camera is just about the worst thing you can get in a videogame where a core gameplay element is swinging from building to building and the overall presentation is the stuff of nightmares. Back when this came out I remember thinking that this was (or at least was gonna be) next-level stuff that was going to push next-generation consoles to its edge. Maybe Peter sometimes looks neat in the black suit but overall not a single thing here looks good (even for back then) but for the best because would you ever want to replace something like this classic moment, among many, with anything else?.

Definitely a BAD game but certainly an entertaining one. At the end of the day, this has only made me miss the days of the movie tie-in game. Rarely do we get this kind of "memorable" anymore and it only made me sad that this era is long over with. Probably a 1 star for how awful it plays despite how entertained I was by everything else but I can't give anything with Bruce Campbell as The Narrator anything less than two (but this version of the game should really be zeros stars for the omission of our Father Doctor Michael Morbius).

suffering from success (of spiderman 2)

Throwing trash around was almost as fun as watching literally any other Spiderman movie besides 3.

PS3 version is better just to hear Toby curse and say stuff he would never say in the movies lol

Not good but the scene where he falls and the grandma explodes is on the Mt Rushmore of gaming moments.

Dad got me the wrong Web of Shadows

Hilarious game. Also very bad. Tobey I love you.

This game uses the early PS3 font. Or vice versa. That must mean that this is the "default" PS3 game. The one that the PS3 was built to play.

Anyways, this wasn't as good as the PS2 Spiderman game but wasn't too bad.

i played the wii version of this game and i only remember swinging around and them going "of course you have spider powers, what is this, 'man 3'" and that was a shitty joke that has been engraved into my skull

FUCK YOU SPIDER-MAN 3

Played this quite a while back. God this game sucks, but, as frustrating and bad as it is, I thought it was equally quite fun and hilarious as well. I love the Raimi Spider-Man movies so much, so even if this game is an unfinished and incompetent mess, I'll always love it.

Ugly, buggy, drab, boring, bland
Yet somehow laughably enjoyable despite that on the PS3
Oh and also it runs like ass, and you can't get the Green Goblin DLC anymore

This game is bad, and it could have been better for what it had. The Story sometimes has moments from the movie adapted in it, until the final act when it all does, the rest of the time, just like other Spiderman games have you do side plot missions to stop other Spiderman villains as to justify an open world Spiderman game, the side missions are fun to play and add to the world and Spiderman's overall life, the story missions are not as fleshed out as the movie, but there are less filler and have less bad moments in them because of it. The Characters from the film are the same but with less time devoted to them, to focus more on gameplay, except Emo Peter who is much better since they focus more on his aggressive nature than his goofy ones, the new characters they bring are very good for what little time they have to have on screen, and you can feel for them when in trouble. The Graphics are awful, the textures look very cheap and unfinished, taking away from the atmosphere as opposed to adding to it, and the city itself feels more lifeless with little to nothing going for it, making the whole game kind of ugly to look at. The Gameplay is fun for the most part, combat and upgrades for Spiderman are done fine, and the city gang system of wiping them out, well they also sometimes spread to others is a fun clearing system to try out, even if it can get repetitive very quickly, the black suit system of having to change back sometimes also works as a deviation from just being in the new suit the whole time of the second act of the game, removing bombs is decent, boss fights are fun to complete, but the swinging is bad with it feeling to heavy when playing, not as free as the 2nd game, and you can swing from empty space in certain areas. The Music is hit or miss, sometimes it fits for what it needs to do, and sometimes it can feel distracting and take you out of it. Spiderman 3 for the PS2 had the ability to be better than the movie, but in the process, felt rushed and undone really brings that dream down from what could have been.
(Since this site won't let me review both games, here is also my review of the PS3 version, with stars underneath)
This game is very bad, the better version is the PS2 version, which says a lot. The Story is like the PS2, the movie moments happen sometimes with new side plots of fighting villains happen mostly, but 1 side plot from the PS2 version with Morbius is removed and replaced with trying to remove Kingpin's mind control over Scorpion, and it even better than the fun Morbius plotline, so it's not too bad it's not in this game. The Characters are the same as the film, but with less time devoted to them, and are the same as the PS2 version, the new characters not in the PS2 version are very good alternates though. The Graphics are awful, they don't look as unfinished, and lifeless as the PS2 version, but the textures and animations feel uncomplete when it comes to what happens on screen, with textures not hitting the right spot sometimes, the symbols during mission objectives look too cartoony for what is based on a live action movie and distract from the tone of the game, and still look bad overall. The Gameplay is actually not fun and feels bland compared to even the PS2 version, despite more to do with the new villains and details in some side missions, combat doesn't the same music and atmosphere in it, the QTE's are annoying, and upgrades feels pointless with the boring feel of combat, and the city gang system is gone, the black suit doesn't appear until much later in the game now, swinging is bad in how heavy it is when playing, but now it feels even less free than the PS2 version, and you can still swing from empty space in certain areas. Music is bad, the good tracks from the PS2 in missions are mostly removed, and the ones that are there are boring to hear and very forgettable. Spiderman 3 on the PS3 is a downgrade from the less detailed PS2 version, and I'm shocked as to how they could possibly do that. I GIVE IT 1/5 STARS
