couldnt get past the first mission

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE PS3/XBOX 360/PC VERSION

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm about to write a short Spider-Man 3 defense piece. It's not perfect by any means, hell it has some pretty bad flaws. QTE's are insane at times, and there wasn't a single boss that didn't make my thumbs hurt. However, underneath all the rubble is a game that was rushed to completion, and my theory, probably forced into a Spider-Man 3 tie-in game. Think about it. The plot is almost completely unrelated, and only 4 missions out of 42 are actually related to the plot of Spider-Man 3 at all. Couple that with the fact that this was being developed concurrently with Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and I think this is a "Spider-Man v. Crime" game turned into a Spider-Man 3 one. Now, another thing. The combat, and this becomes a theme here is ALMOST pretty good. The combo variety is crazy, but where the problem comes in is when the dodge is on the trigger instead of the face buttons. This results in massive thumb pain from pure mashing while your index finger does all the work on dodging. The same goes for the swinging. It's ALMOST pretty good, but brought down by wanting to be more advanced than Ultimate was. Every swing has an animation, but there's no variety, and because of that it feels repetitive. It also feels slow. but it has upsides, it has a proto-Spider-Man PS4 tricks, one of which was actually ripped straight out of this game and put into Miles Morales. I even think it improves upon the previous 2 in some ways. They're finally confident enough in their length to not have you be forced to do side content to unlock new missions, but make no mistake, it's just as plentiful as it was in those games. It's now just what it's meant to be. Side content. What people really rag on this game about though are the graphics, and they do not look nearly as bad as people exaggerate them to be. It's mostly all held in the facial scanning, which is something that still looked bad in games like Infamous Second Son seven years later. The city, and effects look beautiful, if a little flat, but feel alive. The windows light up at night, the city feels dense with these weird paper people, and the traffic feels more alive than even Spider-Man PS4 does at times. Speaking of, I see the most influence from this game in Spider-Man PS4 than I do in any other Spider-Man game. There's the air tricks I mentioned, but also a similar swing kick, grabbing and throwing objects, creative, and expansive crimes and more. Coincidence? Probably, but I thought it was neat.

No Pizza Time. Shitty swinging. Shitty combat. Venom is an asshole. What's the point? Just play Spider-Man 2.

Fuck Activision.

it's like spider-man 2! but worse in every way! awesome!

THEM BUILDING FLY SWING VROOM VROOM BRRRRR combat nice

Unlike other licensed games which are very bad to above average and that's it, the highs in this game are very high (web swinging, combat, funny quips and original voice actors) but the lows are extreme (enemy ai, difficulty spikes, glitches, camera). In conclusion you need to experience this game.

To dando a nota com o coração, porque faz muito tempo que joguei, mas me divertia bastante.

This game is bad, and it could have been better for what it had. The Story sometimes has moments from the movie adapted in it, until the final act when it all does, the rest of the time, just like other Spiderman games have you do side plot missions to stop other Spiderman villains as to justify an open world Spiderman game, the side missions are fun to play and add to the world and Spiderman's overall life, the story missions are not as fleshed out as the movie, but there are less filler and have less bad moments in them because of it. The Characters from the film are the same but with less time devoted to them, to focus more on gameplay, except Emo Peter who is much better since they focus more on his aggressive nature than his goofy ones, the new characters they bring are very good for what little time they have to have on screen, and you can feel for them when in trouble. The Graphics are awful, the textures look very cheap and unfinished, taking away from the atmosphere as opposed to adding to it, and the city itself feels more lifeless with little to nothing going for it, making the whole game kind of ugly to look at. The Gameplay is fun for the most part, combat and upgrades for Spiderman are done fine, and the city gang system of wiping them out, well they also sometimes spread to others is a fun clearing system to try out, even if it can get repetitive very quickly, the black suit system of having to change back sometimes also works as a deviation from just being in the new suit the whole time of the second act of the game, removing bombs is decent, boss fights are fun to complete, but the swinging is bad with it feeling to heavy when playing, not as free as the 2nd game, and you can swing from empty space in certain areas. The Music is hit or miss, sometimes it fits for what it needs to do, and sometimes it can feel distracting and take you out of it. Spiderman 3 for the PS2 had the ability to be better than the movie, but in the process, felt rushed and undone really brings that dream down from what could have been.
(Since this site won't let me review both games, here is also my review of the PS3 version, with stars underneath)
This game is very bad, the better version is the PS2 version, which says a lot. The Story is like the PS2, the movie moments happen sometimes with new side plots of fighting villains happen mostly, but 1 side plot from the PS2 version with Morbius is removed and replaced with trying to remove Kingpin's mind control over Scorpion, and it even better than the fun Morbius plotline, so it's not too bad it's not in this game. The Characters are the same as the film, but with less time devoted to them, and are the same as the PS2 version, the new characters not in the PS2 version are very good alternates though. The Graphics are awful, they don't look as unfinished, and lifeless as the PS2 version, but the textures and animations feel uncomplete when it comes to what happens on screen, with textures not hitting the right spot sometimes, the symbols during mission objectives look too cartoony for what is based on a live action movie and distract from the tone of the game, and still look bad overall. The Gameplay is actually not fun and feels bland compared to even the PS2 version, despite more to do with the new villains and details in some side missions, combat doesn't the same music and atmosphere in it, the QTE's are annoying, and upgrades feels pointless with the boring feel of combat, and the city gang system is gone, the black suit doesn't appear until much later in the game now, swinging is bad in how heavy it is when playing, but now it feels even less free than the PS2 version, and you can still swing from empty space in certain areas. Music is bad, the good tracks from the PS2 in missions are mostly removed, and the ones that are there are boring to hear and very forgettable. Spiderman 3 on the PS3 is a downgrade from the less detailed PS2 version, and I'm shocked as to how they could possibly do that. I GIVE IT 1/5 STARS

This game makes you feel like Spider-Man jumping off a bridge

By the time I was on my final play session I thought I was used to this game's bullshit. I'd had the guts, got the glory, and felt like I knew all its tricks until the last mission where I was thrust into a brief New Goblin tutorial before playing as him in a Sandman punch-out boss fight. This is the game that just keeps on giving.

Ugly, buggy, drab, boring, bland
Yet somehow laughably enjoyable despite that on the PS3
Oh and also it runs like ass, and you can't get the Green Goblin DLC anymore

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE PS2/Wii/PSP VERSION

I was going to give this a lenient score, but honestly I couldn't come up with any redeemable factor. The combat is terrible, the swinging worse. The story feels like reading a synopsis of the movie, but not like a Wikipedia one, the promotional one given out to the press when the movie is announced. The fucking black suit, the main selling point, in some terrible attempt at immersion basically acts as a death sentence halfway through the game due to a ridiculous quick time event button mash that is nearly impossible to complete. My score for the PS2 version would be a 1/2 star.

Played on PPSSPP Emulator, but have completed on original hardware before.

Ultimo jogo que joguei no 360

Pretty bad in a lot of ways, but it's honestly bad in funny ways.

I PLAYED THE FUCK OUTTA THIS WHEN I WAS A LITTLE KID THIS SHIT IS HILARIOUS I HAVE SO MUCH NOSTALGIA FOR IT AND ITS SO UNBELIEVABLY BAD LMAOO

Take Spider-Man 2, remove a little of the good, sprinkle in some more of the bad, and ban, you’ve got Spider-Man 3. A good enough time, but not as good as 2

On Nintendo Wii, Spider-Man 3 is ugly and barebones, with hardly anything to keep your interest for more than a few hours, except perhaps the web-swinging.

Os gráficos me pareciam incríveis, totalmente surreais.

Its like the last game they won the super bowl, then this one all the players took a dump on the field and thought that would be acceptable at the same heights of winning.

A massively underrated Spider-Man title FOR THE PLAYSTATION 2, every other version is terrible. A game that was ahead of its time and many later Spider-Man games would borrow mechanics from.
