When you can't have Guitar Hero because your parents think it was too "satanic" you had this game.

My mom asked if the dishes were done and I yelled “PLANKTON!”
She hugged me. She knew they were washed.

mario party but not as well designed. nice spongebob fanservice though

(Played before 2023)
This was one of those games you got as a kid because you liked Spongebob and it was what your mom saw on a GameStop shelf. At least, that is what happened with me. I liked the game as a kid but it had pretty awful minigames and I really didn’t have anyone to play with, but it certainly could’ve been worse.

Decent party game, tbh. Not that you'll ever find anyone to play it with these days.

Bog standard 2D platformer with a few minigames thrown in here and there. The visuals are nice though and the music is way better than it has any right to be.

Underrated and quite fun minigame collection.

Plankton plays the keyboard, among other things.

I had the game boy advance version. It was a 2-D platformer with spongebob, sandy, squidward and patrick as playable characters. The gimmick was that beating certain levels would cast the character you used in the game's 'show', and then at the end of the game there's a stage gauntlet using those characters in those roles. one of the better GBA licensed games.

PATRICK HIT ME WITH THAT SICK DRUM SOLO MY GUY

As the strongest kart racer, PlankGOAT fought the fraud, the queen of squirrels... He began to drift around puddles, Sandy shrunk back in fear and PlankGOAT said "Stand proud Sandy, you are strong."

Played the PC version, which I thought would be another cool funny adventure game like Employee of the Month or the Movie game, which it, kind of is? Seems like they had way less money so instead of like a story you go through it's more like an objective, recruiting randos (mostly chars that literally do not have names) to be in an episode of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. You usually have to give them one item to get them to go, which is either found somewhere in the world or gotten from another NPC in a very small and straightforward trading circle minigame. If that wasn't stimulating enough sometimes there are stunningly terrible minigames which make up a significant chunk of the game's 90 minute runtime, making it feel less like an adventure game and more like window dressing for a minigame collection. Pretty lame stuff, but there's some decent gags and the hook of exploring these surprisingly well realized visual locations from the show with comfy music and the original voice actors is nice :). Game also has some really weird cursed semi-2D flash cutscenes that just. Look very strange. Idk, I kind of liked it. It barely has an ending too, once you get enough of a cast you can do different combos of this fake show, it's bizarre. AWE games undefeated

Surprisingly fun, thorough, and entertaining set of minigames set to a story mode with a banger hook, a story strong enough to be its own Spongebob episode or even a two-parter or TV special. There's something really validating about winning a set of minigames and then you get to see your character of choice star in a scene from the fake movie the entire game's plot revolves around. Some of the co-op stuff on here particularly rocks, so this is definitely something you play with a group of friends and not "a friend and two bots". There are a few problems here and there - this game is fairly ugly, as many tie-in products from the licensed game era of sixth-generation gaming were, minigames can go on for too long, and the bots are utterly insipid, braindead little goofy ass cretins that can't do shit on their own, hence why this game kinda needs to be 4 Players only because there's no chance of a bot randomly carrying the team or doing something hilariously epic like there is in Mario Party. Still, for a cashgrab party game, this is some quality shit. Some of the minigames from this hidden party gem live rent-free in my damn brain, like the crazyass paintball-on-unicycles minigame, or the Squilliam rock band minigame, or anything at the Krusty Krab (excellent opener set of minigames) or the weirdly intense and atmospheric Chum Bucket levels. Also the prison break minigame is fucking based. Really good party game, tbh. 3.5 / 5.

Relogged this as I'd planned to replay the story mode to completion but it's not worth it.
A lot of the minigames work best with more human players, because the majority of the 2v2 games you play with a computer are actually super annoying because it involves you waiting for your CPU partner to do something while the team that's entirely CPU absolutely dominates you.

I'd imagine playing this with 4 people in the same room would be fun but playing it by yourself with 3 computer characters is annoying.
Also; one character, CPU or not, has to get 12,000 points in order for the story to continue.
Fuck that, fuck this.
Why? What's wrong with "most points wins"?

For some reason, I played far more Mario Party clones as a kid than actual Mario Party. This isn't quite Muppets Party Cruise level of legend, but it's the next in a string of banger ass Spongebob games released in the mid-2000s.

one of the few actually good party minigame collections, no i'm not bias this time

My copy was taken from a rental shop, so if anyone at Rogers Video wants item #736 back hit me up I'll mail it to you

Really fun collection of memorable minigames, playing with a friend is pretty essential though. The AI is crappy to the point that its hard to progress through the game and unlock all the minigames without a semi-competent partner.

My mom brought a tv and the wii so we would keep buzy while she was directing a play at the mall.....

This game is honestly kind of good

A surprisingly solid party game given the track record of licensed party games. You play a bunch of minigames to earn points, and the winners of said minigames get to star in various scenes of essentially a spongebob episode written by someone who never wrote for the shows. The minigames are all varying degrees of fun with some standout good ones and some groaners here and there, but its mostly fun ones. If you get 3 other people (preferably those familiar with spongebob and moderately capable at video games) together with you to make a full party of 4 and play this game start to finish, yall are gonna have a good time.

a mostly average, long-winded yet still super-short party game. it's definitely more fun with friends, as the computer can range from malfunctional to brutal and the campaign is more concerned with your score than anything. the way the cutscenes chamge depending on who wins a set of minigames is really cool tho, even if it only really works with a 4-player set-up

This was actually a pretty fun party game.
