this shit isn't even fully out yet and i can tell it'll be my favorite

Undertale was a masterpiece, so it would be hard to top it, but Deltarune chapter 1 proves that it may not be as hard as we all thought. In my opinion Deltarune chapter 1 is not as good as Undertale, but is almost there. The main difference between Undertale and Deltarune is that Deltarune feels more story driven.

In Undertale, you are a kid named Frisk who drops down into the underground and must get out, with characters being introduced along the way. In Deltarune, you are a kid named Kris who falls into the dark world and needs to overthrow a king and find out the mystery of what the dark world really is, and how it connects to the real world, with Kris being someone who already knows many of the characters we knew from Undertale, like Toriel, Asgore, etc.

Alongside this, you also get introduced to characters pretty quickly instead of along the way of your adventure. This includes people like Suzie, Ralsei, and Lancer. I feel that because you are introduced to these characters so early on, you feel closer to them. Staying on this point, in Deltarune you feel less alone, and I think I prefer that to Undertale's isolation. In Undertale, you meet all these characters, but none of them really accompany you on your journey. They kinda just introduce themselves, have a bunch of banter happen, and then they leave you be, and it feels bad having all these cool characters and not being able to adventure with them. Deltarune fixes this by having characters like Suzie and Ralsei in your party, following you around, and helping to progress the story alongside you.

For Chapter 1, the story isn't as good as Undertale's but has a lot of depth that in my opinion was improved in Chapter 2. Overall I really loved Deltarune chapter 1, and was great seeing something from Toby Fox, sequel or not.

i fuckin loved this game since it fixed sooo many issues I had with undertale and really fuckin fun writing. Can't wait for the full game to come out

definitely a promising start to a sequel (or whatever toby fox wants to call this game) to undertale

swaggy soundtrack and even swaggier writing

uma otima introdução pra historia do que vai acontecer nos proximos capitulos mas o capitulo 2 é bem mais melhor

i remember the hype surrounding this, crazy time

The one singular thing I liked about this was Sans

wasn't huge on this one, but it was a fun twist on the undertale aesthetic and gameplay.

TOBYFOX TORERO
PONE EL ALMA EN SU JUEGO
Y QUE GANAS DE QUE LO ACABE PA PODER JUGARLO ENTERO
COMO UN BUEN
TORERO

Its good, Ralsei kind of overrated but the team stuff is fun.

I adore suzie with my life

sets the groundwork for some incredible stuff

gameplay is better than ut and kris is nonbinary what else can i say

Gets more borring the more you play

i love our heroes so much, the gameplays flows better than undertale. it shows throughout that this is toby's dream game

Deltarune Chapter 1 is a great first introduction to the characters and gameplay. It's different enough from Undertale that it keeps the whole experience fun. Also, the characters in Deltarune Chapter 1 are really great. All of them are charming, interesting, funny, and I always wanted to see what was in store for them next. According to the chapter selection screen, there will be 7 chapters, so I suggest getting on the Deltarune train ASAP

When this dropped, my entire world collapsed (in a good way) This was the twist of the century for me, nothing will top the insanity I went through when I heard Toby Fox was tweeting cryptid messages AND SAID THE FUCKING ''VERY VERY INTERESTING'' LINE!!!!!!! My world flipped upside down and you KNOW my ass was on this the second it dropped.
I honestly can't remember what I was thinking and doing the first time playing chapter 1, but I just remember being so fucking excited and happy every moment of the game. This game made me love so many more new characters ESPECIALLY SUSIE!!!!!! She is my queen and I have loved her from DAY FUCKING 1!!! I don't really see anyone mention the scene where Susie Finally joined the party properly, but that fucking scene had me jumping up an down in real life it was so sweet and one of the best memories I have from this game.

Still, Im giving chapter 1: 3 and a half / 5 because as much as I love this game, Im CERTAIN as the chapters continue shit will go down and it will get better and better, and I wanna save my higher ratings for those chapters. Still, don't get it wrong, this game is absolutely amazing

This game is so much fun. It has all the funny jokes, likeable characters, and great music from undertale but it's somehow even better in this. Toby fox, you've done it again.

S- Sans Undertale fucked my mom...

Jevil is my enemy for real that battle was hellish. This was so fun!! Loved the art style of course. I enjoyed how this felt similar to undertale taking aspects of it that I loved and thought were creative like the gameplay mechanics but switching it up by now having multiple party members and making it feel fresh in that way. The story is also good and I'm invested to see how it progresses. I think Susie is just misunderstood and what the hell does that ending of the chapter mean. Toby Fox always delivers with the music no surprise there and the battle music in this game is going to be on loop for months I fear. I didn't like the lack of consequences for actions throughout the game. That was a big part of undertale with the different endings for pacifist, neutral, and genocide and I'm not saying there needs to be all these endings because I imagine that would become astronomically difficult to have branching pathways for a game with multiple chapters because the branches will just build but I just wish there was something. I played the game by not attacking anything because I wanted to and there was no real purpose to doing so (beyond a few extra dialogue lines) which just feels antithetical especially considering that is what Ralsei urges. I also didn't enjoy how the final boss was a joke compared to Jevil and not saying it needed to be that level of difficulty but I would have liked a bit more of a challenge for the end. Overall, thought loving this game and excited to play chapter 2.

Not sure why I didn't play this back in 2021 when I played undertale for the first time but at least I won't have to wait as long for the next chapters. Also imagine my shock when I saw there were 7 chapters planned, this game isn't going to be completed until the late 2020s lol but I'll be seated from now on.
