The
The Story takes place during the last act of the film and after it, that's not a bad idea since it can give creators more opportunities to show what they can bring to the story. Voice acting is how you would expect from a PS2 game based on a kid's movie, sound like their counterparts, but aren't impressive. The Graphics are good, it looks and feels like the movie, even if the models don't always animate how they should. Controls feel great and makes moving around feel like how you want it too, smooth and responsive. The Gameplay has you go around avoiding the traps from the suburbs to steal food from people's houses and beating up mammals by either using household items and weapons or using your limbs, this is a fun idea for a over the hedge game, it is fun to play, you might start getting bored after a lot of it, but that comes down to people's preferences, so you could complete it without being bored after a while, minigames are alright, nothing special don't affect the story in any way, just for fun, which is fine. The music is alright, some tracks feel good for the situation, others sound out of place to me. Sounds are good, the satisfactory noises make you want to do things more. Over the hedge is a good kid's game that knows what it is and how to make it be what's expected from its film counterparts' fans.

this game isn't really standout in any sense, it's just a 2 player brawler based on a movie, kind of along the lines of shrek 2 for the gamecube as well, but it's at least not TERRIBLE, there's just nothing worth playing it for. not fun at all single player and just barely fun with a friend to play with
Underrated beat 'em up classic. I love the movie to bits, but the game I also love to bits. This was one of my childhood games but I either lost interest, lost the save or never got that far, ironically I was playing a ripped version without knowing (a.k.a they cut out all the cutscenes, music and voice acting), tho even now I kinda prefer the peaceful feeling no music gives over having music. But I say this without nostalgia or childhood bias, this game fucking rules, it's a lot of fun and I appreciate it acting as not only a sequel to the movie but also taking even more from comic strips. And we know we're not getting a sequel to the movie, so this is the next best thing, well the comic strips are still going, so the material is there but y'know. There is also Hammy Goes Nuts on PSP and DS, and DS version of the movie game here seems impressive, idk about Over the Hedge GBA though. Hammy Goes Nuts doesn't have a plot of insane sigficance, but hey one more Over the Hedge media likely set after the movie, maybe someday, y'know?
Either way, I love this game a lot and I'm glad I finally gave it another shot and beat it in 2020 after all these years.
