Probably my first good experience with a euroshmup. The weapons feel great once you start upgrading them, and the multi-directional aiming with the jeep is both extremely natural and satisfying. The weakpoints come not from anything it does per-se, but just being too long without switching up the visuals enough. If this game were half as long I could see myself bumping it 1 or 2 points.

Might give the Genesis version a try someday.

A bit strange. You can choose between two vehicles to play as, but both are a little bit finicky. The jeep is a bit easier and can fire in eight directions so I settled with that, but its shots always lock on regardless of the movements you make, which isn't too helpful with a lot of enemies from all sides.

As someone who emulates all my older games, I tend to forget the L and R buttons exist on the SNES controller after playing so many Genesis games. They help you switch weapons here, and up until stage 3 I was only using the lousy default choice because I didn't discover this until then. It became a lot more enjoyable once I found this out.

Sunsoft are generally lauded for their soundtracks, but I really found this one to be lacking. Everything seemed to go in one ear and out the other, which normally I wouldn't point out but again they threw out a lot of great soundtracks in their prime, even (especially, actually) on the NES.
