- Poyoooo!!! (Fire ball best power) -

Kirby's Adventure surprised me! Sure, he's a pink blob, but the charming visuals and catchy tunes pulled me in. The gameplay is simple yet satisfying, inhaling enemies and stealing their powers is pure fun. Might not be the deepest game out there, but it's a classic for a reason.

this felt like it went on for too long, ran outta steam at world (level? stage?) 4. fwiw its a gorgeous game, but that slowdown when too many enemies are on screen is atrocious

Kirby’s Adventure is a late era NES game that pushes the console to its limits. While the gameplay vastly overshadows that of Dreamland on the Game Boy it suffers from slowdown at the mention of an attack being made. (I heard somewhere this might be due to Wii emulation instead of an innate game flaw)

Excellent, probably the most impressive NES game that I ever played, the definitive start of the kirby series since he got his COPY hability, it has the start of Dedede redemption too and the introduction of META KNIGHT!

The level design is creative, some levels has their own mechanics to explore the gameplay toolkit in a lot of ways, the only downside to me was slowdowns that happened a lot.

I honest had a lot of fun playing this NES game in 2024, and that's impressive, I didn't have this much fun in any of the NES Mario Bros games, I really like NES Castlevania but I think this game is better.

A nostalgic journey back to my childhood days, this game oozes charm. The copy ability adds layers of fun, and the final boss battle is a standout moment. Though plagued by occasional slowdowns, it's a delightful adventure with vibrant visuals reminiscent of Yoshi's Island.

Honestly, I was blown away when I realized this game was an NES title. The graphics, music, level design, and depth are all ahead of their time.

While only the 2nd Kirby game, it's surprisingly the first to feature copy abilities, including things like the Hammer, Beam, Wheel, and UFO abilities! The level designers really went all out, utilizing Kirby's immense copy-enhanced moveset to create much more intricate stages than in Kirby's Dreamland. It also has significantly more stages than Dreamland, with tons of secrets and puzzles. And it all culminates in an absolutely unforgettable final boss battle.

Sadly, the game runs terribly. In a way, it's further proof of how advanced the game really is for the hardware. It absolutely chugs when there are only a handful of things on screen, and it makes Kirby frustratingly hard to control during more pivotal moments, even dropping my inputs at times. Topped off with most of the unlockable stages being filler 1-UP mini-games, and it sours the experience a little when looking at the whole picture.

Overall, an absolute must-play if you're a fan of Kirby or the NES. It has some misgivings, but playing it makes it easy to understand how and why Kirby became such a Nintendo superstar, and it's definitely an important piece of video game history.

Really fun and a great step up from dream land 1. it does lag a lot and most of the copy abilities aren’t great, but is overall great

I grew up with the GBA version so playing the nes version was really cool. The copy ability is super fun to use and the game feels a lot smoother and better to control. The level select is fun and the mini games are also fun too. The final boss is also very cool I'd definitely recommend this one to be people's first Kirby game.

Kirby's Adventure was actually the first game I ever let's played when I still had my old YouTube channel back in the day. I chose it because around that time, I got an NES and figured it was a good game to play first because it's so easy. Turns out, I really sucked at the game lol. Since I was using a camcorder and didn't know how to edit videos, I had to keep every single death in too. I may have sucked ass but I truly wish I still had those videos, as sadly they're lost to time now. Anyways, playing this again brought me right back to those memories of making the videos 10+ years ago, good AND bad memories.

Let's start with the biggest addition, the copy abilities. This was the first game to have then. And it kinda shows. You have a ton of classic abilities here; sword, hammer, cutter, needle etc. The NES was very limited with its buttons, so the move sets are super simplistic, but it works well. The reason I said "it kinda shows" was they have abilities that would later just be combined into one. Ice/freeze and fire/fireball. Freeze and fireball are both so much better than ice and fire, there was just no need to have both. But of course, they had to be split due to the NES controller only having two face buttons. Overall, a decent selection of copy abilities but not great imo.

For an NES game, and compared to dreamland 1's graphics, this game looks great. While I'm personally just not a fan of how NES games look in general, this game does have a very consistent color palette which I can commend. It's no Dreamland 3, but again it looks nice for the console it's on.

The OST is ofc good again, all Kirby games are. This game introduced a buncha songs that have become staples now. Butter Bridge is a big one, such a banger. Honestly might be my favorite version of that song too, it's that clean.

The level design is solid though I feel like no level really sticks out and they all just blend together. The levels have these switches that you can find in the stages that unlock little parts of the map outside of the levels, and let me tell you some of them are mean. I only found a couple this playthrough, but I feel like with some of them, you'd absolutely need a guide. Like I said, there's a map. Besides the main levels, there's other stuff you can do. There's little arena sections where you can fight a boss for a maxim tomato. There's a copy ability room where you can get a specific ability anytime you want. And then there's the little minigames that can net you some lives. All of them are fun but my personal favorite was always the crane game.

Something I did not like back then, and this still applies to the NSO version, is the lag that happens in game. Every single room you're gonna get some sort of lag, and sometimes it chugs hard when there's like 4 enemies on screen or a fire/ice/electric effect is happening. I get they wanted to make the game look super good but it was at the cost of the game not running well which stinks. Apparently the 3DS version fixes this funnily enough? But the E-Shop is now closed so ahhh that blows. Also I never really liked how you barely have any invincibility frames in this game. The game is easy but it can be super easy for enemies to stun lock you in certain circumstances, especially since enemies respawn. Not a huge issue but it did annoy me somewhat even on this replay.

This game brings back a lot of good memories but sadly this was never one of my favorite Kirby games. It's definitely a solid time but I like most of the other mainline games more. Honestly, I think I like Dreamland 1 more just because it's so short and comfy. Ah well, still recommended for anyone looking to get into Kirby or NES games in general!

fun game but that lag just keeps getting more in the way as time goes on. 3DS version supremacy

This game holds up so well. Even if the copy abilities are somewhat primitive, there are a bunch of them and they're each distinct. The game largely handles well with some weirdness around using abilities in midair (hammer, sword) and the game lagging whenever there are a large amount of enemies on screen, which is unfortunately somewhat often. The Yogurt Yard boss is also pretty bad. But those things are ultimately minor in a game that, even being over 30 years old, is still easy to pick up and play today.

I had no idea so many aspects of the franchise date back all the way to this game. Really impressive for an NES game. Controls were unresponsive at times but that's about it

Killer soundtrack and fun gameplay. I don't remember playing it a ton, but I did enjoy it!

Very impressive sequel. The idea of the copy abilities adds a whole new dimension and without it I think Kirby would be down there with the forgotten mascots like Bubsy and Croc.

I was actually surprised at how good this game was (kirby dies in like 3 hits tho and meta knight was the end of my sanity)

Super solid entry to the series, nothing about it makes you shit your pants but it's a good time

This is a weird one. As far as NES games go it's a lot more polished than even the best games in the library, and this makes it feel a lot more "modern" than a lot of its contemporaries, At the same time it doesn't have the consistent fun of Mario, doesn't come close to the fantastic level design of Castlevania, and push come to shove I think I'd even say Mega Man was doing more interesting things at the time. It ends up feeling pretty unspectacular for a lot of its playtime aside from some amazing audio visual design, and it isn't helped by the few ways it does feel unpolished. Mainly character control seems inconsistent, pretty often you'll get hit by something that you think you should have been able to dodge in time because some actions have a lot of startup. Kirby's controls never feel as smooth as they should which in some ways is practically a staple of his character but can be an annoyance.

It's made up for by the last three worlds being very good thanks to some really interesting settings, and the final boss is incredible. Even as my second Kirby game I wasn't expecting yet another boss to subvert my expectations this early on in the franchise, and not only is it great but I have to seriously think about if it's better than the final boss in Forgotten Land, which was already one of my favorites of all time. Crazy that a Kirby game did Dracula better than any Castlevania game.

This is a very good game once you get into its groove, you just have to go in with moderate expectations. There's a reason why it's both considered one of the best NES platformers but isn't really talked about on the same level as the greats.

As cores são bem fortes, me lembra o Yoshi's Island.

Jogasso.

One of the best NES soundtracks and games, which makes sense with this being a later title on the system

An adventure indeed

It's the Kirby game that introduces many of the mainstays to the franchise, alright. There's fun to be had, but man is the lag unbearable. Great final boss, though.

Can't have shit in DreamLand

Who knew that this charming pink bouncy ball that is Kirby would start a big franchise filled with simple, colorful fun and joy?

Kirby's adventure was a platformer game with physics that made Kirby feel great to play in general, but also with an interesting and original power system that gives Kirby many abilities to use by gobbling and swallowing his enemies. It is more challenging than I first expected, but not to the point of frustration.

Kirby's Adventure is a solid NES title from beginning to end, and still holds amazingly well by today's standards because of how simple and easy it plays.

Didn't play this 'til just recently since I just grew up on the Kirby Dreamland games instead, but it's a delight. Much harder than I was expecting, but it is an NES platformer I suppose. Nightmare in Dreamland definitely improves some stuff, but this was still a darn good one
