mugen was but a step that led me towards wrestling games (community creations, simulated fights, cool violence etc etc)
saltybet this one’s for u

Build your perfect fighting game.

the greatest video game engine of all time

This is really more of an engine than a game, and to judge it as a game would be unfair. You'll have much more fun with completed projects like Hyper DBZ.

Can be 0.5 or 5 depending in how you build it and that's magical.

FUCK M.u.g.e.n archives tho.

I was laughing for a good 30 minutes as the enlarged Donkey Kong sprite from DK Country beat the shit out of Phoenix Wright. Good shit

with over 20 years of history, compiling a mugen build was like going down a rabbit hole that just kept going and going.... too bad the end result was virtually unplayable. rare akuma dee bee kaw and nanarman are still my goats forever and always

Rating is for SaltyBet, which has been my go-to time waster at least once a year for thee past decade.

You can make the game peak fiction, absolute garbage, or really anything else and it's glorious. The only thing that's holding you back is the awful website to download stuff from.

i mean you can kinda find anything you want if you try hard enough

Rat King VS Mr Broly changed my friend's life

I wasted all my time downloading and adding characters. Didn't even play it. 10/10. Would do it again.

The only game where Shaquille O'Neal can battle Master Hand on the Windows XP wallpaper.

I can make Donald Duck and Goku fight, what more can I say?

god I love Saltybet so god damn much

This shit blew my 8 year old's brain, I thought those 2010 youtube videos were a fever dream

i made kiryu kazuma kick the living shit out of isaac this game is pretty cool i think

i watch AI matches when I'm bored on my MUGEN build. still gives me as much serotonin as it did from day 1

Mastering Thierry Henry takes time and effort, but it's worth it in the long run as he's very powerful in the current meta, and has great synergy with Ronald McDonald and some character from an unreleased japanese arcade fighter i've never heard of before.

Mugen is at the same time one of the best games ever made but it is also the worst, so heres the average

"M.U.G.E.N. sucks! It's either super boring or completely unbalanced!"

My brother in Christ you made the build.

Trouble Man is my favorite MUGEN character

this is the weirdest most open source game ever fucking made dude

Mugen is just fortnite for fighting game players

A great game, I love how I’m able to add characters from all mediums, and stages as well. I just fucking despise the people who run the website where you have to download the files though.

Yes, it sounds silly, but i'm actually writing a review of a game engine that has been known to put a craze among fighting game fans.

The first time i've ever watched a MUGEN video was back when i was a prodigy child who loved Super Mario a lot that i've spent my childhood playing and watching flash content made by fans back in the very fresh Newgrounds days.
On Youtube tough, said video was a typical Super Mario vs Wario match, a classic one since Super Mario Land 2. It had a really serious tone that i used to not be able to recognize certain stuff that today became too familiar as the Street Fighter and King of Fighters series are VERY common to see among the Mugen community. In the same video, the stage came most likely from King of Fighters while the lifebar was a mix between Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Capcom vs SNK 2.

And to this day, after that first time, Mugen is a really full fledged engine that allows you to make fighting games in such easier manner without all the fuss about hitboxes, etc., with a text-based dedicated state programming system. You can customize everything, from characters, lifebars (the two being the MOST unique you can work on), stage select screens... but what you can't really customize to its extent is, well, the title screen. It is not something like Godot Engine which you can basically manipulate elements with ease, BUT at least you can actually make incredible battles with ANY character you love...

It is after all a indispensable game engine that has the most exotic use ever. NO LIMITS... its userbase is immortal despite the absence of Elecbyte from now on, and since then the birth of Ikemen, a remake of the engine, the engine has went on a new leaf under the name Ikemen Go, which is a reprogram in GO language of a engine reprogram with new features that aim for fullgame crazyness. But... like every fighting game, you still have to master the arts of inputs and when you get to make your own game you will be the one who gets to make your own moveset.

You will feel like a god who is having fun with planet Earth.

The fact you can have Omega Tiger Woods fight DIO, Kazuma Kiryu fight Ronald Mcdonald, and Joel from Vinesauce fight Garfield really makes this a must play for anyone who wants to play this.

also amazing cover art

This game might have the best game cover of all time. Also, my score factors in saltybet
