A really weird port of No More Heroes that adds in some of NMH2's bosses as a bonus, along with some new minigames that were clearly cut from the original game for a reason. The Playstation Move controls are honestly way worse than the Wii's motion controls.

I'm not a fan of the graphical changes in this version of the game.

This is a pretty janky port of the Wii game. This version would drop to single-digit frames during combat and driving around the hub world. It also kinda looks like shit compared to the Wii? Performance issues aside, this game is a blast. The humor got a few solid nose exhales and was never grating, the story is 100% nonsensical, but the game knows that and pokes fun at that fact.

The real highlights are the boss fights and character designs. The designs and looks of the bosses are phenomenal IMO, they're memorable and seem like there should be more lore and story behind them, but there's not. Combat-wise is where this game could have the most improvement. There's combos and wrestling moves to pull off, but the controls are never really touched on and it boils down to a basic button-mashing fest. This port does add some new shit like boss battles from No More Heroes 2, but they fall apart in this game's combat system and are a total joke.

Overall, a great starting point to build off of and I'll be playing the rest of the series, but I dunno if I can recommend this to anyone with the performance issues on PS3 and the game just looking generally worse than its Wii counterpart.

comedia japonesa estranhamente boa

you know, for a game about maiming people, the only thing getting cut apart are my eyes with the amount of screen tearing this port has

its incredible how a simple texture swap and shading can make this incredible game run like complete dogshit

just get the original on switch

The best and worst thing about this game is working. You spend a lot of time on this game driving the same roads, doing tedious jobs and is wondering all the time "is it worth it?"
Then you get like omg its just like real life and you start to realize that no its not worth it, but it needs to be done, after all, you need to pay that rent or enter that ranked match (in travis case). Yes, this game showed again how working is hell, and you get the full experience, riding in a super ugly open world with questionable physics and when you arrive in the job you do something dumb like grabbing coconuts while the npc says omg you need to be hardworking it will get better but it never does.

...Just play the Wii/Switch version...

The game definetley has personality, but I just couldn't get past the clunky gameplay mechanics.

It's the same fucking game with different artstyle, stop crying.

I really don't know how to feel about this "remake?" honestly, but if I had to give it one positive, it's that the PlayStation move and navigation controllers are how the series is meant to be played. They just feel so good to use.

“Look at what they have done to my boy”

I feel like this port gets more flac than it needs, but it's alright. It's FUCKED to play on PS3, you deal with frame drops that make it near impossible to play, but like NMH1, I enjoyed traveling the open world- that's cut down but makes it much easier to openly explore, it's a change I welcome. I like the graphics and I know the new shaders on the characters aren't for everyone, but I personally enjoyed them a lot, makes me nostalgic for this era of games. It might not be the intended way to play NMH anymore, and never was- but it holds a soft spot in my heart.

it has nice touches like extra content and holding dark side power ups but removes heavenly star

NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE ORIGINAL WII GAME. This is a terrible demake of the original No More Heroes, which is a masterpiece. With the original version being ported onto Switch and PC in recent years, there are finally more suitable versions for people that simply want to play the game with traditional controls. Below is my handy list on why this awful, janky, glitchy, ugly port is one to avoid.

Reasons why Heroes' Paradise is dogshit;
-Nobody at GhM worked on it
-Horribly ugly texture replacements on literally everything, most character models look like laminated turds
-The blood effect when killing enemies looks particularly awful. Instead of the spraying liquid effect from the Wii version, it looks like PNG files falling out of their bodies
-Terrible sound design (fucking with Fukuda's sound design should be considered an act of treason on humanity)
-Horrible framerate, it's like 20 with constant dips (original game had unlocked framerate that would sometimes be 60, Switch and PC have much more stable 60 fps consistency)
-Gameplay is literally slower, and has asinine mechanics added to make it drag even more
-The extra bosses are just poorly programmed NMH2 bosses
-The premium they put on "QOL" changes go so far as lopping off like a quarter of the Santa Destroy map
-There's stupid-ass glitches, most notable one is how the execution move likes to randomly miss
-All the extra DLC stuff is cosmetic junk, most that will probably get modded into the PC version

Please don't allow newcomers to play this version with PS3's horrible loading times.

Suda51 is one of the most unique and creative game designers ever, and this game is a prime example of it. I can't imagine anyone disliking this game, there’s so much charm and love in this game that you'll forgive all the janky in it. Even though it is a rerelease.

My eight-grade edgy lord self would have enjoyed this better than an 18-year old current me

I emulates it, so I cannot talk about performance issues. Repetitive and boring after the first level

No more hoes! Good game, tho I wasn't crazy about it but enjoyed it enough when I first played it, it wasn't until NMH3 where I found new found appreciation for the series and enjoyed these in a different light

Got the real ending, did all the dream bosses and collected all Lovikovs

A flawed, albeit fun classic.

No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise sees the journey of Travis Touchdown, a geeky loser with nothing going on in his life (and no money) who gets roped into the UAA's competition to decide who is the greatest Assassin in the world. With the promise of money and women dangled before him, he heartily accepts his fate and dives head first into the Garden of Madness.

NMH: Heroes Paradise is a port of the original Wii classic that comes with a few extra features, including bonus bosses (ripped right from NMH2) and extra quality of life changes that make bouncing between jobs and contracts while gathering the cash needed to follow this absurd task at hand.

The game plays decently and responds well, though it normally hits sub 30fps in normal play, and the game tends to have a problem when slaying multiple enemies at once (causing heavy slow down). Furthermore, do be aware that, since the game runs sub 30, the game can sometimes register rapid button pressing as holding down the button, which would cause a charge attack (sometimes in inopportune moments). Keep this in mind when fighting groups of foes, and be patient with your attacks.

Otherwise, the gameplay is quite fun, and with the inclusion of NMH2 bosses, leads to quite the roster of boss battles throughout the game (and compiled nice and neatly in the Extra Menu's "Score Attack" mode post game), which, let's face it, is the real reason you'd play the game.

The map itself is really the only thing that holds it back, as when you're not scrounging for hidden cash, doing odd jobs and assassin missions, or finding t-shirts in dumpsters, the open city of Santa Destroy is largely a boring map to traverse. Even the bike, as fast as it can go, handles poorly and is actually quite the nuisance to drive. You're better off hoofing it, but it will take quite a bit of time to get around with that option.

The ranking mission levels, however, are relatively fun to traverse and have their own unique gimmicks and requirements to conquer. Some are as simple as just reach the boss room. Others is kill all enemies in the entire map. One of them is about surviving a death race and traversing a forest of illusions. They aren't ALL homeruns, but enough of them make it a solidly fun experience.

The game itself does look rather nice for the intended design (punk grunge), especially with character looks, though don't expect a dusty, grungy town like Santa Destroy to ever impress in the visual department.

Everything in the sound department, from the clash of weapons, massive explosions, and the horrific dismemberment and decapitation of foes feels quite punchy. The battle music is catchy and helps set the very video-gamey tone it's trying to sell, even if it may feel a bit repetitive after longer sessions. The only real complaint I could really bring up would be the death cries of enemies, cycling between two or three phrases (the original version had far more than that).

All in all, if you still have a PS3 and have never played No More Heroes in any form, this isn't a bad game to check out. It could have been polished better, but its extras really put this above the original release in terms of content and quality.

Shitty port of a great game. Ruins the artstyle and adds dumb things. Just play the original. Even suda hated this.

I don't get why people hate this version so much, having played both, I ended up enjoying this one slightly more. Just the fact that this has Kitty Race already makes it superior than the other versions. And the QoL improvements plus the HD graphics made the open world way more enjoyable. Also yeah there is frame tearing and some frame drops, but so does every other suda game of the era, plus did people even play the original on the wii? While it doesn't have tear issues, it was far from stable, using the bike felt awful and arguably it had even more frame drops during fights. And lastly, this version doesn't suffer from random crashes like the recent pc port.

I initially passed on this game when it first came out cause I thought it was stupid. I was wrong. There's a lot to these characters and this story when you look under the surface. It can still be wacky but there's substance there too. Glad I finally gave it a shot. Enjoyed my time in the Garden of Madness.

Feels like it should go without saying, but avoid this port like the goddamned plague. I understand not being able to afford a copy of the original Wii version because the retro game collectors market makes returning these older titles nigh impossible without a fortune to blow, but it's also out on Switch. So just get it on there if you're able.

hmmm, this port ain't so ba-
HOLY JESUS.

What 51 less Sudas does to a port. A few small QOL features and some barely noteworthy extras, like a few new mini games and bosses from NMH2, aren't worth a godawful framerate, hideous new graphic style, a chunk of the hub worl being outright removed, and glitches galore. A garbage port that Suda disavowed when porting the original, vastly superior Wii version to the Switch. If you played this, you didn't play No More Heroes as our lord and saviours, Suda and Grasshopper, intended.

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE. Terrible remake thanks god the original got ported to pc.

This port isn’t as bad as others make it to be, it was where I was first introduced to the series and everything that makes the No More Heroes franchise great, such as the boss fights, humor, meta comments, combat, is still presented well here. The framerate is the biggest issue, going into almost near single digits when there are a bunch of enemies on screen, and they did change the texture style so it looks more in-line with a PS3-gen title rather than keeping the sleek unique texture style it has on other consoles. Other than that, it’s still more than playable - I found the ps move controller to be much more responsive and precise than a Wii-mote (except on the motorbike, way too sensitive), and even with the Dualshock 3 controller it's still pretty fun. The No More Heroes 2 bosses were also thrown into this port as extra content, but most of the fights lagged pretty bad. Overall it’s still a decent way to experience NMH1 if this is your only option, as the plot is so good you can kinda turn a blind eye to the performance issues

the only "redeeming quality" is that its a tak fuji game and not a grasshopper mnft game.
