gimpy, in all the right ways. great fun with friends

played for 30 mins and realized it was a waste of my time. maybe another day I'll pick it up again

Pretty fun with friends, there is a surprising amount of customization for both the predator and the military guys. Could do with some different game modes maybe to keep it feeling fresh apart from that its a decent multiplayer experience

There's just nothing here. You can see everything the game has to offer in like 3 matches.

Predator: Hunting Grounds is a multiplayer only game, in which you have only 2 game modes, Hunt (the Fireteam members have an objective to complete while the predator hunts them down, both predator and fireteam members controlled by the player) and Clash (2 teams fighting, practically playing conquest while 1 of your team members can be the predator).

About the in-game content, there are not many weapons neither weapon customisation, but there are many different gears and perks available for the fireteam, the predator has even more customisation options. The predator has many appearance options available and many different weapons and gear to choose, which adds the player the possibility on how and when to attack its prey.
The game isn't that easy as you might be thinking, the predator has to decide when the fireteam members are the least prepared for his attack, while the fireteam has to always keep their eyes wide open because not only they have to finish the mission in a 15 min time limit, but they have to be aware that the predator is probably looking for them. The mission aren't that repetitive, I mean, yes, they are the same after some time, but still there are so many different missions, after some time you forgot the same mission you've done 30 games before (for now only 3 maps available).
In the gameplay there are many details which are taken from the film, but within this review I won't mention them, it is up to you to find them out.
The only two things that aren't made as good as others is the AI soldiers, inaccurate, running around without any tactical movement, glitchy sometimes, all in all, rubbish. The second thing are the graphics which for a 2020 game could have been much better, it's okay, but still, could have been more detailed.

All in all, a great game, okay, some things like the AI needs to be improved, but without that, the game is enjoyable enough to make you play it for hours and hours.

Get some friends on this for custom games. That’s where this game shines most

joguei esse com uns amigos e a experiência foi bem engraçada. Não achei ruim, mas também não achei bom. O predador eh meio apelão. Mas é divertidozinho até, mas não sei se jogaria de novo.

I'm all for gameplay/story over graphics.. but when the graphics are this ugly and reminiscent of the PlayStation 3 then it's just shit. The gameplay doesn't even make=up for it anyway. Weirdly, Friday the 13th (the developers previous game) was actually very nice-looking, despite being a pretty game.

Illfonic, I'm sorry but you're a piece of shit developer and I implore you to stop making games, or have a MASSIVE restructure of how you approach them. Two franchises that could have made awesome games, and next on the hit list is Ghostbusters.

Five player multiplayer game where four players play an FPS as soldiers trying to complete objectives and fight completely ineffective AI soldiers while they are hunted by a player controlled predator who plays in third person and can climb and leap from trees and deploy traps.

Some decent bits that add to the lore like audio tapes from Dutch, Isabelle, and the organization you are a part of and there is good weapon variety for both sides. Some parts of the maps can look pretty good, the moonlight through the trees, flaming wreckage, etc. There are some good ideas like having an objective focus before evac as a way to put a time limit on the predator while also giving a reason for the squad being in the area in the first place in line with the film, and there is a focus on covering in mud to avoid the predator's thermal vision and tracking modes.

The actual melee and shooting combat just isn't satisfying. This is made worse by there being a big focus on long off unlockable/DLC equipment that limit and weaken new players. Some weapons and equipment you need to rank up to level 30, 50, 100, etc to have access to them. There is little satisfaction in killing the predator as it just awkwardly ends the match without objectives complete. The enemy AI is almost pointless due to how weak they are and the predator's health pool with all the ways they can heal are ridiculous. You will have people unloading a hundred shots into a predator completely covered in green blood, and when they finally go down they might need another 100 bullets to put them down before they can activate their self destruct sequence. If they do activate their self destruct you need to move out of the blast range before the match ends, if they don't activate it in time or if you complete a terrible shape matching hacking minigame you then need to defend the body for extraction from AI that suddenly are obsessed with destroying the alien body. The Predator's leap ability and how quickly it can charge make them more like the early version of Superman than something stalking you through the jungle.

The movie probably wouldn't have been as memorable if, instead of slowly stalking and isolating characters, the predator could just jump down hack at someone before doing a finisher move while shrugging off dozens of shots only to leap 50 feet in the air, turn invisible, and eat a boar to completely heal.

You can have some fun if you had a full group of friends, but anything under a full five person group and it will always be a random find who gets to play as the predator. There just isn't enough gameplay variety and it is unlikely most people will see most of the weapons and gadgets as your group of friends is likely to become tired of the game long before you reach those ranks.

I also just got a new PC that is running the game fine, but my previous PC that should have had no trouble at all running the game would just crash anytime I tried to start a match and that seems to just be a thing for some people. So make sure you try to play a few games fast after buying it before just leaving it on over the two hour return window if it ends up not working for you.

I'm really close to cleaning my PS Plus backlog, thanks to so many boring pvp games, just like this one. Sorry, I'm just not the audience for this.

From the people who brought us Friday the 13th: The Game comes another asymmetrical multiplayer experience. This time based on 20th Century Studios' Predator franchise. It sees a squad of soldiers go head-to-head with one of sci-fi's most iconic creations and the results are surprisingly pretty great.

As a member of the "Fireteam" you and up to three other people are tasked with completing objectives across a lush jungle environment before exfiltrating on "the choppa" preferably with everyone intact. A task made more difficult by the AI assailants scattered across the map that, while generally not very intelligent, are still perceptive enough to draw you into a firefight that can attract the attention of the real threat to your success. This side of things plays like your traditional military FPS. You customize a loadout complete with perks and weapon attachments while using an instantly recognizable control scheme that will be familiar to anyone who's played a shooter since the 360/PS3 era. As a result, it's very accessible and the only thing you'll really have to learn is how to disable alarms and coat yourself in mud to avoid getting detected.

Meanwhile as the titular alien villain your job is to track down and eliminate the other players before they can escape. I've heard people say this half of the game is unbalanced, as in an atypical move for the genre the person doing the hunting is at a disadvantage. One-on-one your opponents will offer little resistance, but if the group is sticking together they can gun you down in seconds. It sounds brutal and unfair, but while I myself have yet to pick up a win as the Predator I've had quite a few matches where my team and I were the victims of a one-sided beatdown. You simply have to take a tactical approach and make intelligent usage of the advanced technology at your disposal to chip away at the Fireteam. You know, kind of like how the creature did in the actual movie? Honestly, I think people are just complaining because they're upset they can't run through everyone as a nigh-invincible killing machine like they could as Jason Voorhees.

I was shocked to find that many of the issues I typically have with these types of games weren't that much of a factor here. The setup seems to encourage positive cooperation so I haven't had any issues with other people mucking about or being a jerk, and an Apex Legends-esque ping system allows you communicate information with your companions without ever having to utter a word. The amount of actual content will still be questionable for some, but personally the light elements of random generation have kept things from getting stale for me after countless matches now despite some key areas having the same objectives every time. It's even the first asymmetrical title I've seen that offers another mode, although it isn't much to write home about. "Clash" sees two Fireteams duking it out over rotating capture points. It basically plays out like a poor man's Hardpoint from Call of Duty where someone occasionally gets to be the Predator. Microtransactions are also not a nuisance as the cosmetics can be attained through generously doled out loot boxes or by purchasing them individually with "Veritanium" which can be found scattered across the maps. All is not perfect as, while gorgeous at first glance, looking too closely will reveal plastic textures and there are some infrequent matchmaking woes, but this is head and shoulders above the majority of its competition regardless.

The real appeal though may just be its faithfulness to the source material. Authentic sound effects and visuals help it to recapture the feeling of that original film. I hope the devs continue to update this the way they did their previous title with content from the other movies because there is plenty of room to grow. Yet, in its current state it is nonetheless addictive and when it comes to this particular style of multiplayer is second only to the mighty Among Us.

8/10

If playing as the Predator isn't fun, I don't even want to know what playing as a footsoldier is like

i dont play online games much but this one was really fun

While it can be quite hard, playing predator is a lot of fun. And if you go into voicechat and find some other ppl in voicechat you will have a lot of fun as fireteam. Shits great

They tried to be Friday the 13th

Shit game cant even play the tutorial without it crashing. If I try to play a match game will crash before a second is even played.

its not horrible and the game is fun for about a week. its a good concept, but the game gets boring quickly... MUD THE FUCK UP!!!

It’s not the worst thing in the world especially if you have a good group of friends! The platinum is grindyyyyyyyy though but we found a system 😏 if you need to know comment below

Nem jogar com os amigos salva esse.

Hunt or be hunted... or just sprint around and shit, I don't really care

Cool concept but long wait times to find a game on PlayStation. The controls are a bit clunky as well. I just did not have that much fun playing this game as coordination is non existent with random teammates. Maybe I’ll give it another shot with friends at some point.

Predator: Hunting Grounds barely works as it's intended. Within the 3 games a friend and I played, we had one that could've been considered bug free, and our 3rd (and last) match had a game-breaking bug where I was a headless t-posing menace immune to damage, yet couldn't interact with the world, nor had any UI elements on the screen.

Even if this game can say it "mostly" works, it's incredibly boring, smeared in disgusting motion blur and grain effects, and is genuinely a boring a-sync multiplayer affair that made us wish I was playing anything else.

can sony give me a good game for my 60 quid playstation plus subscription. idk just throw me a bone, anything

I don't think it's anywhere near as fun as Friday the 13th (the game this studio previously made.) but I still had some fun. but a lot of the technical problems are very inexcusable. The only reason it worked very well for Friday the 13th was always a hodgepodge of messy bad looking stuff. That doesn't work for Predator so it's can't write it off as an artistic choice.
