Being the game that helped thrust the class-based shooter into the spotlight I don't see that many people talk about Team Fortress Classic. Perhaps that's a given considering it's age, but even nowadays it's gameplay is unparalleled by any other modern class-based shooter and is truly a product of it's time (in a good way). The movement is sleek and each class serves their own purpose, and as with any other Valve game the amount of custom content that has been produced for this game over it's 24 years of existing.
"A Classic That Has Fallen"
Yet another entry to the "classic games that were popular but have since died" list, here's "Team Fortress: Classic". It feels like an extremely watered down TF2 (which, duh, is this game's sequel), but lacks all of the charm, balance, and care that the sequel contains. Shooting feels wonky, the time to kill is all over the place, and classes feel very indistinct from one another compared to the sequel. On its own it really just feels like a crummy "Half-Life" mod which may have been fun "at the time", but has since become sort of trash. It's hard to find games, and when you do there is a good chance there is a hacker or some sort of slaughter fest going on around you.
Overall, this game really lacks any appeal beyond "checking out what TFC looked like". It's boring, dead, and unbalanced, and something I would Not Recommend current gamers to go back and experience.
Final Verdict: 1/10 (Terrible)

I'm in middle school and I've found a server that replaces rockets with a low poly model of Homer Simpson. I've found a custom minigolf map that has an easter egg that shows you pictures of naked women. I've played a game mode where you just ride up an elevator and jump off at max height.
I never got any good at this game and could only get kills with nade spam.
