A pretty average beat 'em up.
Has 5 playable characters which adds some variety. It has a fantasy setting and uses all tropes you'd typically associated with it.
Graphics are pretty basic.
The gameplay is pretty basic even when compared to some of its contemporaries. You have one attack button, one jump button and you could press the two buttons together to perform a special attack which drains a part of your health.
The above mentioned rather basic combat system combined with the fact this game has 16 stages, way longer than the average beat 'em up, makes it feel like a big drag.
The RPG leveling system, while cool, is executed better in Knights of the Round, which was released the same year.

Played on Capcom Arcade Stadium.

Not bad!

great designs, cool sprites, good pacing, not too complicated, and you go "AHHHH" in victory when you level up. put the Templar in a vs game

Don't let the 'Big Squigglydot' and 'Big Cold_Comfort' gaslight you into thinking that they won the race against 'Big me' and 'Big ConeCvltist', we demand a retrial by that 5 seconds head start.

Gildiss, the Red Dragon looks great with his screen-filling self, but he's not as cool as Firkraag. biased

Demasiado largo, aunque no está mal.

Can't stop. Won't stop.

Not a particulary good Beat'em Up, but I could totally see my younger self sitting in an arcade, throwing coins in the machine to beat this game.

This game has everything, starting from dragons, over giants, mummies, people riding dragons, a black knight, evil wizards, skeletons a princess and no story. And of course, rediculous enemy patterns. Fun for an our and about 20-30 coins.

The Game mechanics are way to simple. Attack, Jump, thats it.

5 diffrent characters and up to three player coop for the perfect chaos on screen.

I'll propably never play this game again, but at some point revisit the SNES Port.

Played on Capcom Arcade Stadium 2.

[Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle]
Can't say I'd seen or heard much of this title before. I played through as the Elf character, which was slightly different as he has a bow and arrow rather than melee attacks. Gameplay was solid and it didn't seem as difficult as Final Fight, but the whole thing dragged on a bit too long. I think there were 15 stages, which was about 5 too many, especially as some of the bosses made an appearance twice. Good selection of classic monsters to battle, although sprites were not as big as Final Fight, which is a shame as this came out two years later. Music was bland. Will probably play again with one of the other character types.

I did play through again, switching between the four character types that I didn't use on my first run. It's a solid beat 'em up. Good to zone out and button mash to!

I love this game's music, and its sense for pastel-fantasy violence. A spiritual precursor to Capcom's D&D beat-'em-ups, with Kinu Nishimura's lovely designs. Its selection of nonstandard characters makes for some cool team dynamics.

What's the more satisfying feeling?

1. Realising this game is almost identical in title to vanillaware's amazing dragon's crown joining all the dots together.

Or

2. Beating maradona and conecvltist in an impromptu speedrun race despite this kusoge game hitting us with a minute long softlock that killed a whole credit.

Yeah, it's 2.

Capcom Classics Collection Revisits #1

For my first random pull I got King of Dragons, which is a fantastic start for me because it was probably one of my favorites off the second collection. I dunno what would've happened if I had drawn Street Fighter 1 or Trojan first, probably bad vibes.

Either way, King of Dragons is a simplistic but pretty fun beat'em up with some cool spritework and boss fights. The hydra boss and Gildiss the final boss in particular are really fucking cool. Some really great music too, though hilariously one of the boss themes is like a six second loop which always got a laugh out of me when I listened to it in the sound test.

I think my main complaint is that the last stretch can get kinda tiring, but I guess that's arcade games for ya. It's also seriously cheap that one of the bosses (the wyvern rider) gets reused as a regular enemy as early as literally the next stage, like I know it's a common sight for beat'em ups, but they could've at least waited a stage or two first.

Refused to use the Elf like the true hardcore gamer that I am, real peeps use the Dwarf.

Played this through the Capcom Beat Em Up bundle. This is a classic arcade beat em up from the early 90s that feels dated in terms of the speed and controls but makes up with a good setting and gameplay. You are able to choose from different types of characters that have their own skill sets. Fun couch coop game that allows up to three different players.

Cool and very long fantasy beat'em up. I still remember playing it for hours on winter nights.
Pick the Elf. You won't regret it.

Featuring five playable character types: the elf, and four others you can pick if you like fucking losing all the time
