The atmosphere here is perfect. The theme of perfection and space is seen in literally EVERYTHING. Whether it be the insanely difficult patterns, the spacy and bouncy music, or the characters, this game is stands above the rest of the series in terms of atmosphere.

Okay fuck this game

I love it

this is like imperishable night but on drugs iloveit i love it i loveeeee it

I have nothing to say about the story because honest to god who is playing touhou games for the PLOT? Get a job. But its so cool that they followed up the moon people plot from imperishable night like Omg....kaguya i know her... Definitely my favorite in terms of visuals bro i was blown away by the backgrounds that shit made me feel like i was in windows media player. Amazing music AS EXPECTED OF ZUN doremys theme is one of the best in the series idc .... My only issue is this game is so hard dude holy shit. Which i guess isnt an issue if youre playing on checkpoint mode (or reisen) but im not a weenie baby so......it was an issue for me....but it felt so rewarding to beat because of that so overall Very awesome game if you hate yourself

Stage 5 is still peak fiction.

i spent more time with that bullshit fairy from hell than with my parents

This game is an absolute blast, hard as hell, but incredibly fun.

LOLK functions a bit differently to most touhou games, instead of expecting a full run with out ever game overing, the game instead has frequent checkpoints throughout the stages and bosses letting you retry as many times as you wish. The catch of course being the fact that this game is HARD, like really hard, and it expects you to match it. The game does have a classic mode of course, the issue is the games difficulty wasn't rebalanced to match it. making it without question one of the hardest ways to play a touhou game.

As for the aesthetics well, its a touhou game, the art is visually quirky and charming as always and the music? the music is absolutely mind melting. the stage 5 and extra stage themes being top of their class and Junko's stage and boss themes match beautifully to give some real atmosphere to the desolate moon lake.

Overall probably one of my favorite touhous so far.

This is my favourite mainline Touhou game, although not by a large margin; there are plenty of good games in the series, after all.
It's all about the impression it left me.

To have a bit of context: this was the latest game released before I had to wait for future ones like most of the fans who catched up. And by god, it was quite climatic.
-A pointdevice mode that forces you to not die at all by replaying the very section you died on.
-Absolute bangers being played across the mayority of stages and bosses (or at least they felt strong)
-I didn't finish the story with all characters nor I remember it, but the audacy of actually going to the moon to stop an invasion makes it feel like a high-stakes game for once
-Clownpiece, Junko and the whole moon setting alone carry the battles. Clownpiece for the infinite madness and Junko for being tired of your bullshit and having the purest, simplest but scariest danmaku (plus her theme).
-The euphoria of, at last, having finished all the mainline Touhou games.

To put it simply, I had fun.

Number of tries Normal 1cc: 36
Character used: Reisen

So... Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, third game of the ''Fourth Era'' of Touhou Project, mostly well known for its ABSURD difficulty, anyways.

This time we have 4 playable characters: Reimu, Marisa, Sanae and ...Reisen?

This game's plot is actually pretty good, not on the level of Imperishable Night or Subterranean Animism but still a pretty good one, Lunarians from the very moon are invading Gensokyo in an attempt to... ''Purify'' it so they can live in there, Eirin calls our heroines and gives them a drug which makes them able to rewind time if they are badly hurt or they make a mistake.

We have new gimmicks and a TON of those are new, we have 2 game modes: Point Device mode and Legacy mode, sections on every stage are divided by ''chapters'' so are spellcards, why does this matter in the first place? Point Device is pretty much force you to play a literally no-miss run, except we have the power to rewind time every time we complete a ''chapter'' we do not get life pieces by any means so our only means to defend ourselves if something goes wrong is deathbombing, we also get a ton oh spell pieces.

Legacy mode is the original way to play Touhou, we get a ton of life pieces and almost no spellcard pieces.

Not a personal favorite if im being really honest, this game was designed with the Point Device mode in mind rather than Legacy mode, it's absurd patterns on certain bosses (Yes, Clownpiece and Junko) are one of the most gimmicky trash I had to deal with in any danmaku.

Music was actually super good, better than the DDC soundtrack and Ten Desires.

I wouldn't tell anyone to start the franchise on this game, rather, they could just skip it OR leave it for the last, it captures the taste of the OLD SCHOOL games of the genre tho i'll give it that.

This ultramarine orb elixir ain't shi-- [wakes up 12 hours later in a ditch on the side of a highway]

(beat as marisa this time) so stage 5 of this is just the most fun thing in all of video games huh

It took me a while to get to playing this game, but in the end I am glad I did. The games super fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really hard, but at least the game gives you an option to cope with that (Point Device) somewhat. Regardless, I think this is probably my second favorite Touhou.

Utterly impeccable vibes

Incredibly difficult yet insanely fun danmaku, even on the easiest difficulty, and, of course, an unfathomably bangin soundtrack

The pointdevice mode is a really nice inclusion, too. Allowed me to finish the game in 1 try without it feeling like cheating

My first attempt ever, and it's already one of my favs in the series, ZUN simply doesn't miss.

touhou que me fez quitar de touhou pra sempre

"lives systems are antiquated inaccessible bad design" okay bro play this game and see where your rotten ideology takes you

has some great characters and a cool vibe, but a vibe won't help you on your 80th attempt of flash and stripe

chang'e are you seeing that shit

Yo I'm writing this while it's late and I'm tired and I'm trying to remember what this game was like/about.

I mean I know what it's about it's about flying to the moon to kill the American Flag Fairy. And some other people but Clownpiece is harder than the last boss. Happy for that manga panel of her getting choked out by Okina.

ZUN was inspired by I Wanna Be the Guy for this one and made an absolutely bonkers one where you have frequent checkpoints but everything is really damn hard. It's got some issues but you have to respect doing something different, and also the fact that the cast is just fully decked out with characters named things like "Doremi Sweet" and "Hecatia Lapislazuli." Playing on Normal is pretty reasonable but still just annoying and not fully what I want from touhou, and then the extra stage is just absolutely bananas too hard. I can't deal with hot topic Satan.

I could talk about how this continues the moon storyline from Imperishable Night which is cool since that was a whole thing that hadn't been resolved. OR I could talk about how Junko rules because she used her power to purify on herself when she was mad at Chang'e to make herself an avatar of hatred, that's cool. I could even talk about how there's extended lore involving NASA astronauts having a war with the moon or something because that's very funny. But I simply do not feel like doing so. In conclusion this is a game for sickos and is pretty cool. Check it out or look up Whereabouts of the Heart because that's a great track. Real banger

Probablemente el Touhou mas injusto de todos pero le doy un 5 por Junko

Nothing happened in the Lunar Capital on April 26th at 10:54 PM.

The best Touhou. Hard as nails with a mode that begs perfection.

I wouldn't honestly say it's the best one, (that will likely always be IN) but it's still incredible with all the ways you can play, the god tier soundtrack, the sheer difficulty of the game, and just how memorable the cast is, especially Clownpiece, Junko, and Hecatia.

This was the first Touhou to come out after I really got into Touhou, and what a game to be live for.

Eu odeio a Clownpiece com todas as minhas forças. Ótimo jogo para sofrer em escalas nunca antes vistas e aproveitar um "Bullet hell puro"

Hate this game. Tied for my favorite.

This game gave me PTSD of the American flag and everything in the sky, from the moon to the stars.

the american flag now triggers my fight-or-flight response

But seriously, I had a lot of fun beating Normal in Point-Device mode, even after Clownpiece and Junko dialed things up to the "just fuck my shit up" level. I fucking love the soundtrack too.

Probably my favorite plot/setting in Touhou and one of the best soundtracks too. Design-wise it's all over the place but at least it has PDH.

Stages 4-6 are the coolest stages in any Touhou game on a purely aesthetic level, imo.
