I really love this goofy ass game where you look at murdered women.

This game is really not that bad outside of the depressing ending. What was up with that?

Just barely gets a 2.5/5 from me because of nostalgia. Story and characters are both great, the atmosphere is there, the music is incredible, but the gameplay is utterly worthless. It's a detective game where you don't actually have to do any detective work to win. You don't even need to ask the right questions during interrogations. There are sequences where you might have to do something (like tailing a suspect or something) and they literally give you a button prompt to skip the sequence. This barely qualifies as a video game.

RAAAAAAAACK STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

An ambitious title from Rockstar, who aimed to push the PS3 engine to its fullest with gameplay that requires reading subtle facial movements of characters to decide whether they're telling the truth in aid of solving various crimes.
The results were rather mixed and sadly the game is seen a bit of a joke nowadays (just search for 'LA Noire VR, not now Phelps!' for a good laugh). But when I first played it, I was gripped and there was simply nothing like it, at least in terms of gameplay (the 40s film noir aesthetic was well done but not entirely new ground).
Regardless of the likelihood of it actually happening, I certainly wouldn't mind Rockstar doing a follow up, especially considering the new possibilities of graphics with upcoming consoles.

With enough distance from when I played it, I can say this much: I admire this, I can even say that I know I enjoyed this. It's so straightforward and I don't have the desire to return to it. But what a dope build of 1940s LA.

Really great detective drama wrapped around a basic as hell open world with bog standard shooting.

If you take this for what it is, a high-budget point n click adventure title, and not as an open world Rockstar Game you realize just how fucking awesome this game is.

I will forever appreciate Rockstar for attempting the most advanced face recognition technology in gaming for that period while picking exclusively the worst possible candidates to be used as reference.

speaking of jank, my god. in a good way mind.

police quest but they say dame and scrunch their faces.... Com,e on gamers.

Não lembro de quase nada, mas acho massa dms ser um detetive, queria re-jogar.

Wonderful story with fresh investigative mechanics and Grand-Theft-Auto-like gameplay. Definitely recommend picking it up on sale these days.

Take out the lovely-but-useless open world, and you have one of the best crime dramas in gaming history.

I'll think you'll find I am a good, honest, upstanding citizen who does not want to cheat on my wife

My favorite part of this game was driving a car into the ground once. I didn't get very far, but I remember that one part very vividly and it deserves 2.5 stars just for trying to get into the big leagues with Bethesda games for glitches.

Esse jogo é tão bom que tenho ele em 3 plataformas. Sério, joguem!

The most compelling thing about LA Noire is exploring crime scenes and gathering evidence. The overarching story, open world and interrogations are underwhelming.

i still need to beat this, but putting vice after homicide was a really bad idea. still a very well made game despite that hiccup

The game had more ambition than it had sense, but that's gotta count for something right?

I wish it had a little more "failable" options, games a movie in the end, but it's still a fantastic detective story

You Fuck Young Boys Valdez?

Game so good it sent its creators straight to bankruptcy.

The interrogation sequences are where the game really shines, and the story is overall interesting with some nice twists and snappy dialogue, but the game is weighed down by lots of clunky driving and shooting sequences.

LA Noire is a game that I really hoped would be more interesting than it ended up being. It is entertaining enough, it has that typical Rockstar charm (and Rockstar's tendency to burn money on the screen for the most minute things) but it really feels like a missed opportunity.

The game takes place immediately after WW2, which is a great setting, but it feels like the devs were so enamoured with it that they forgot to put any substance in any part of the game.

The gameplay itself is so simplistic and scripted that it may as well not even be there, the investigation segments are really basic and the interrogations are sort of interesting but really badly handled (and it never matters how well you do in any of them). Same can be said for the open world, which was a complete waste of money and time to even have, it looks great but it serves so little purpose that I ended up just skipping the car rides every time.

So all we're really left with is the story, but I felt like it was paced all wrong. The game introduces its characters in the first hour, then everything stops for a solid 10 hours, and at the very last couple hours a story starts to materialize. And even then you're not given much to care for considering that by then the game is scrambling to get some kind of structure back, but it all feels very hollow, especially the very anti-climactic ending.

What I will say about the game though is that the creators really cared for what they were making, and it shows on every aspect of it. Too bad that it didn't really translate to a compelling experience.

A game too ambitious for it's own good. A bunch of wonderful ideas that don't quite land, be it because the acting is far over the top to make up for uncertainty in their own face tech or just the vagueness of your character's dialogue choices

A wonderful tribute to noire films. A wonderful recreation of LA, engaging story line and great pick up and play style that is ripe for a modern continuation.

um dos melhores jogos feitos pela rockstar e merece remastered pra nova geração

One of Rockstar's great works, "L.A. Noire" was an incredibly addicting game to me. While it's story is pretty familiar the way it implements it's innovative gameplay techniques makes it seem fresh and original. Plus, the soundtrack is great.
