A short hike but actually good

cute, wholesome little game, perfect to help with that seasonal depression comin around this time of year lul. and cmon it has the botw shield surf move but some how even more fun to use, how could it be bad?

man, this game is just so fuckin sweet. a very simple but sweet story, and a wonderful sense of being a kid having some adventures. it's genuinely fun to run around in too, like, way more fun than you'd think a game like this would be movement wise. some super fun characters too! i really defy you to play this game and not smile, so cute and pure fun all around. highly recommend.

my favourite legend of zelda installment

Fun, addicting, and very charming little open world game.

i didn't know we had the technology to make games this lil or this gatory. Lots of work must have went in to this, and it shows! The devs made something really special here. If you liked A Short Hike you'll love this game too

Sweet game with lots of charm. There's a ton to do, it's so aesthetically pleasing, and the music is great. Just a good time when you need something chill to play.

While the main appeal of this game is the sense of adventure and wonderfully charming atmosphere, I have to give massive props to how fun it is just to move around in this game. Makes the exploring so much more fun when you can chain ragdoll speed into shield slides.

Super great experience!

Wonderful little adventure game! a great time just relaxing and walking around helping people!!

I was a little cynical while playing through the opening of Lil Gator Game. On the surface it can appear as an overly cute indie game full of tropes, but once I got past the introduction, it won me over.

Traversal feels great and the game regularly introduces new items and characters to keep things interesting. While short, it makes the most of its playtime. Overall, just a force of joy and sincerity that really made me happy I played it.

Such a heartwarming and charming little game! Really simple adventure game with incredible imagination throughout.

An incredibly charming indie game, full of wonder and fun references to the Legend of Zelda. It was maybe 4-5 hours long but it was worth the time to play around, gather friends, and go on adventures and quests.

Incredibly charming and fun little time with some fun tools that really sell you on the whole "kids playing in a park" vibe Incredibly well

Nintendo game feeling, poor animations

Super cute and fun game, with a lovely message at the end.

We all thought it was A Short Hike clone, but turns out it's a Zelda game

Lil Gator Game is everything I wanted it to be: a game about a lil gator. But when I booted the game up and realized what the title actually meant, I knew this was going to be something special. And thankfully, it was.

It's a perfect bite-sized platformer about childhood wonder and friendship; the exact kind of game I'd play as a pick-me-up after a rough day. Sweet without being saccharine. I'd defend this child with my life.

There is the apocryphal story that The Legend of Zelda was based on Shigeru Miyamoto playing in the woods as a kid. Well, this game dares to ask: what if YOU were a little kid playing in the woods?

I've been following this game's development for a good while, and while at first blush it felt like it was cribbing a little too much from Breath of The Wild, I think it does a very good job at imitating the base mechanics, and ultimately what is the same and what is different serves the themes very well.

This is a game about growing up, about the importance of confrontation, and the joy found in creating things. It's also a very silly game about a little alligator boy who can unlock the ability to ragdoll on command.

Short and sweet and certainly a favorite of mine from this year. $20 base price might look a little steep but I can assure you it's well worth it.

This game is just a really nice, low-stakes, relaxing experience. The world is fairly large, and progression is open ended for the most part, which lends well to the child-like exploration that this game is trying to provoke. The visuals are very simple but pretty, and the story is really endearing and says a lot about maturing. This game reminds me of "A Short Hike" which is another indie game I really, really enjoy.

gator? i hardly even know her!

A game about the joys of making and experiencing games which really resonated with my experience as I kept thinking about how nice it must have been to work on it while enjoying its healing childlike atmosphere.
It's a fun short time

This game feels like it really gets what *I* want from the Cozy subcategory of game genres. First and foremost it's just extremely fun to play. The shield surfing especially is just Instantly fun. But as the game progresses and you gain access to more goofy movement tools, like the ragdoll, the bubblegum, and even the sticky arm, the game just continues to decide to do the most fun thing it can.

On top of that, the game is funny, and it very much earns the heartfelt story it's trying to tell. Almost every joke lands for me, and the overarching story feels incredibly personal and relatable, without being cheap or hamfisted.

9/10, would sticky hand spin around a tree and launch myself into infinite stamina bubblegum flight again.

this game is adorable, the movement mechanics are extremely fun, and the story it tells is so simple and effective that i genuinely think this is one of my favorite releases of 2022. i honestly wish there was more stuff to do because i 100%d it in under 5 hours and all i wanted to do after was beat up more cardboard monsters and ride around on my shield. looking forward to any future updates

It's funny that I one of games I played early in 2022 was "A Short Hike" which this game has had many comparisons to. Both are fairly laid back games, with genuinely funny writing and a great artstyle. It's fun to just explore this world and I plan on 100%ing this. The only complaints are figuring out where you need to go sometimes and I wish it were a bit longer! A solid game that's worth your time!

A wonderfully cute, funny, sweet little game that for as simple as it is, hit me way more than I thought it would've because of just how immediately precious and kindhearted its cast of characters are. It hits the perfect balance of a large open island to explore and do things in with as much freedom as the player wants, while also keeping it just small enough to not be overwhelming plus the benefit of giving the player extra tools solely for the sake of making 100% completion not only encouraged, but importantly comfortable.

I think the story it wanted to tell was also one that I think I really needed, that people move on and grow up in pursuit of their goals and dreams, but that also everybody needs time to take a break and be with those who are most important to them. It's so simple and yet I can't believe it got me to struggle choking up by the end of this short but sweet journey. It reminds me a lot of A Short Hike both in its theming, visuals, gameplay, and even just the sense of humor (which, if you liked that game, those might as well be selling points) and Lil Gator Game goes the extra mile in making all of it work in a 3D environment, bumping up the scale just a smidge more and trying to tell its story through connections to others rather than just one small singular adventure. One of my favorite games of the year, hands down.

Really adorable game that takes me back to the good old days. I was doubting it at the start, but once I really got into the thick of it I was having a great time hopping around and meeting cute new characters. The movement feels wonderful and moving between points of interest is very fun to do. The writing is also entertaining and I never found myself mindlessly skipping through it. Ending had me catching feels (haven't done the introspection to decipher why).

I had a single nitpick early on that I have since forgotten about. It has been erased by fuzzy feelings. I don't think I would implore everyone I meet to play this game, but I thought it was great.

Adorable, fun, smart, and silly little adventure. Those who are saying that it has "A Short Hike" vibes are correct. It is both more mature, and less mature, at the same time. This would be a great adventure game to give a younger gamer. It's wit and emotion carries through for an older gamer, but I believe some of the magic is lost to an older audience.

Un jueguecito super cuco, wholesome y divertido en el que vas haciendo cosillas por una isla siendo un cocodrilo petiso muy gracioso. Esta muy chulo y encima es cortito, si te gustó A Short Hike este probablemente también te guste.

Lil Gator Game delivers on a mini-BotW adventure in just a few hours and manages to tell a great story that resonated with me deeply. A must play cozy game.
