Sadly this is the only way I've experienced Persona 3. While a good experience to bring along with you on the go, I have a hard time falling in love with the movement options compared to what I've seen in the PS2 versions of the game. That said, this is still quite a meaty game with tons of content. Often overlooked compared to Persona 3 and Persona 5, this entry in the Persona series still offers a great story and gameplay. The addition of the FemMC is also a great addition.

Loved the ability to play as female MC, but didn't like that exploration became just picking a location instead of moving area-to-area...it really took away a lot of the enjoyable feel of roaming from P3 and P3F, even if it did streamline the game by doing so.

Favourite persona title! It's great in most areas!

Deals with more interesting themes than P4G, amazing OST, a cool dog.

Portable has a lesbian Mitsuru, so it's clearly the superior persona version.

THIS is the best persona game facts only p4/p5 who idk her

You can bone Shinjiro

That means it's good

I recognize that this version of Persona 3 is very hit or miss with a lot of people, while it does add new Social Links and the ability to control your party members alongside a new protagonist option, it also has additions that frustrate some such as the ability to save a certain party member who dies during the plot of the game. With all that said, P3P remains my favorite version of Persona 3, it's one of the most important games I've played personally and I will always recommend people play this version if asked which I recommend.

It may not be "perfect", but it's perfect to me.

It's uh... how do I put this... this game is nowhere near as fun to play as Persona 4 and Persona 5, and while it definitely has amazing music and a great plot, it also sacrifices so much of the presentation from the PS2 versions that it actually makes it a worse experience despite the gameplay improvements.

The only version of Persona 3 without infuriatingly bad gameplay, which sucks because while the first half of the story is almost nonexistent, the latter half is truly special, but its so bogged down by godawful game design that i can't in all good conscience recommend playing any other version

Solid jrpg with a very interesting story about life and death. Sadly, this is the only version where Atlus decided to get rid of their brain worms and let you control your party members. The price to pay for this, however, was to remove the exploration and cutscenes, but is worth it, you are not losing much.
This version also adds a Female protagonist so you can date Akihiko, just like you always wanted.

Probably the most formative game I've played. I would not be the person I am without this game.

What you lose in the drop of graphical fidelity you gain in the FemMC which was an awesome addition.

This game sure would be higher if it wasn't such a compromised port

This was an enjoyable time, and the story did make me almost cry at times. Shinji's death is something that to this day really gets to me, and I did find myself getting really upset when the main character died near the end. However, a good story doesn't fix my main issue with this game, Tartarus. It's so boring, and I just can't stand it. I used the fast forward function so many times on PPSSPP just to get a move on. I just wanted to keep doing my Social Links and Tartarus just kept going getting in the way. I loved all the characters. Yukari, Junpei, and Shinji are so great and the rest aren't bad either. I've yet to play the answer, but I have watched it, and I loved how they game built upon how the characters are dealing with the loss of their friend, especially Aegis. The movies are great too. I recommend watching all 4 of them. Imo, this game is only worth playing for its story. Everything else is just way to monotonous and dull to be worth experiencing. This 3.5 is really generous, but I didn't want to give a game that made me so emotional such a low relating. Watch a play through online honestly.

honestly not sure if i rate this higher than 5

I'm playing through the female route.
The game definitely is missing out with its stactic background, but I like the new social links and music. Definitely a nice way to replay the game.

Persona 3 is gloomy, angsty and depressing - but it also brings beautiful themes, inspiring us to live life to its fullest.

The portable version updates the base game to be more like the fourth game in the series, with many quality of life changes that were not in the original P3 or P3FES. This means that many of the quirks that slowed down the PS2 versions were fixed, making the gameplay experience a lot smoother. A female protagonist was also added, whose route has different cutscenes, different music and different social links (now you can befriend everyone in the main cast!).

The only glaring negatives of this game are the lack of animated cutscenes, how sluggish and boring the month of December feels, and how some of the social links with SEES in the female route end up messing the story a little bit.

But all in all, Persona 3 Portable is still a solid 4/5, and I can't recommend it enough.

If you play this version over FES while still being able to play FES you better sleep with one eye open

Favorite game I've ever played, for as many flaws as it has it makes up for them with its incredible emotional story.

My first megaten, so I'm really fond of it. As expected of a PSP version, the visuals are really downgraded (the maps are CG backgrounds and FMVs are just still images now), but that's where all the negatives end. Combat is changed to be like Persona 4(controllable party members!) and it has a Female MC route for added replayability with a few different Social Links. The story and characters themselves are unchanged, which means it's still top tier shit.

This is the only Persona game that let's you play as a girl, so it's the best one by default.

The worst way to experience Persona 3. Visual novel format is lame.
