I once made zombie grunts into the mic during "Hungry Like the Wolf" and got a perfect score. The pinnacle of music-meets-games.

The previous Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and all Harmonix games were building towards this. One of the best track-lists in western rhythm games, great offline content, and ridiculously easy to pick up and play online. This game might not be as hardcore as some Japanese rhythm games, but it's perfect blend of difficulty, accessibility and presentation made it a well-earned mainstay in people's houses and hearts

this game is the greatest
game i've ever known
can't wait for the next one
because it's really good
i'll spend, my money
before it runs ouuuuutttttt

Jesus, the time I spent playing this...

I used to fight over this game with my sisters about who got to play drums and/or who had to sing. What a good time.

Greatest plastic instrument game ever made, music choices are iconic, career mode was a fun full-playthrough experience.

One of the greatest rhythm games ever made for sure. Better than 90% of Guitar Hero games, the setlist is godly, the amount of DLC and the variety of genres was insane, the mechanics were very finely tuned, the career mode was just a blast. This was the ultimate party game for years. I really miss those days.

I hope the fuckin knucklehead at Harmonix who decided to put Down With The Sickness in this game lost his job.

you can play Low Rider by War in this game, pretty good imo.

Technically Rock Band 3 is the better game because it introduced pro mode, but had a pretty bad set list. Rock Band 2 however is where everything lined up. The mechanics had been perfected, the set list was excellent, the DLC library at this point was enormous and had almost every single song you could want (almost [fuck you led zeppelin]). It was a perfect storm of a rhythm game and I yearn for the days of the plastic instrument because of this game.

Lump sat alone in something marsh

Best rhythm game ever made. i wish i could go back

No more Activision. More instruments. DLC. What more could you ask for?

Easily had thousands of hours in this instalment alone.

you can play miss murder by AFI in this video game

Hard to think of a co-op game I've ever enjoyed as much as Rock Band 2. Bigger and better than the first in every way with a killer yet varied soundtrack. I spent 95% of my time on the microphone but messing around with the guitars and drums were a blast too.

I am not good on the drums in this game, which is weird, because I am a drummer.

Greatest Plastic Instrument game to ever be released. Incredible DLC library, adding XNA/Indie Dev support was monumental for having non major label bands available to play. Legitimately countless hours spent in Xbox Live parties playing this game

3/4's of my time in College, right here.

This game is so good. The only reason that it's not 5 stars is because the instruments are not as good as the Guitar Hero ones, although the game is much better!

Rock Band is an all-time great series, and one of my all-time favorites. Played the shit out of these games on the PS2 when they came out, and had a resurgence when Rock Band 4 came out in 2015. The game in particular probably has the best soundtrack of any of the music games (rock band or guitar hero) ever compiled.

you show an elementary schooler this setlist and he will simply not be the same person anymore

Definitely the peak of the genre.

Outstanding, the best in the series. No covers, full band customization and tour mechanics, and infinite DLC support. The whole 9 yards.

Rockband SLAPPED way harder than Guitar Hero, no cap. These games had godlike songs and introduced instruments other than Guitar. Slapper, 7.5/10
