actually you're all wrong and this rules

Honestly one of the better 3d sonic games I have played. More self aware than I thought it would be, and something about all of the sonic characters talking about war is really funny.

Obviously not a great game, but good fun to throw on with friends to pass around and laugh at. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would

Is this game a ginger? Because it has no soul

I can't believe I sat through this one. Just played it because the PS+ gave it away and i wanted a few chuckles. Finished it in literally 2/3 hours by just holding the boost on the modern sonic phases. This game? it's... garbage. Don't do this to yourself.

It’s painfully mediocre at best and incredibly frustrating at worst. Controls feel way too sensitive, level design is annoying and bland, Classic Sonic is awful and doesn’t need to be there, story’s trash, but the avatar stuff is fun.

the most mediocre game i've ever played. at least the soundtrack slaps

A very low hanging fruit right now in terms of mockery. It's okay, the avatar stuff is alright but it sucks how much potential there could've been at the same time. I don't feel insulted by it but it's a game that just exists

It's not worth the $40 price tag it had at launch, and it's barely worth the $20 price tag physical copies have now. Buy Mania or Adventure 1/2 instead, they're much better. But if you get it on sale, it's a pretty fun time.

A total mess with setups that are interrupted and incoherent plotpoints that are thrown away for no reason. But its really fun to make your own character, and boost Sonic still feels just as good as it did during Unleashed.

giving this a 1 feels generous honestly this game just sucks lol

Sonic Forces is above all else a case of wasted potential, the OC stuff is great conceptually and fun to play, Boost Sonic has it's moments of having some great freeform level design, Classic Sonic shouldn't be in this game he feels worse than any other game, but ultimately it all comes together in a meh package. Your OC doesn't even go super saiyan and send Infinite into the shadow realm so how could it ever live up to it's potential. I hope they return to some of these concepts in a later game without ruining them in an effort to fix the parts that weren't broken just undercooked.

This game was laughably fucking bad on every single level that it was almost good

Do you think God stays in heaven because he, too, lives in fear of what he's created here on earth?

This is a weird game to give a number score. It is absolutely rife with problems: the levels vary from uninteresting to dreadful, everyone but Modern Sonic ™️ feels clunky and awkward to control (that “classic” style gameplay is especially rough after the near perfection it had in Sonic Mania), and pretty much everything else is absolutely embarrassing.

But God, playing this with my friend while we were both just riffing on it and creating our own OC with an overly complex backstory and character arc that we just improv’d over the course of the game is an experience I’ll never forget, and if that kind of thing appeals to you, I really can’t recommend this enough.

If you're going to release a full price console game in 2017, that only runs for about 4 hours, those had better be some damned good hours.

loooooooooooooooooooooool

edit: gave it half a star more for not being secret rings

"It's BeeN GeNerAtionS SiNce I've SeEn YOu" eat my dick

Transparently uninspired and lazy. Not the worst Sonic game by any means but its existence makes me angry. I'm not someone who's gonna tell you that the earlier Sonic games were masterpieces but they were clearly products of passion, even the not so great ones, not soulless corporate derivations like this game. The level design is just nothing. Classic Sonic is only in this game to piggyback off of Generations' acclaim. Custom characters only exist to give the game a gimmick and some viral appeal. As usual, the sound team members are the only ones who are trying, Infinite's theme is a banger.

I got this FREE via PS Plus and I honestly still feel ripped off. The game is a testament to how far Sonic Team has fallen.

I had high hopes for this game but it was a really big disappointment. The premise of a more serious plot on a Sonic game got me hyped but they way it was written felt awkward as it doesn't even make sense sometimes. The Classic Sonic gameplay was completely ruined by making it completely unresponsive in comparison to Generations which perfected it 7 years earlier.

I finished this trash in 3 hours lmao.

Any game that lets me live out the horrors of circa mid-2000s DeviantArt by way of an official Sonic OC creator has got to be worth compromises like slightly wonky Classic Sonic controls and physics; and while the three hour initial playtime is fairly short, there’s a ton of replay value in Red Star Ring collection and the missions system.

It’s not by any means an amazing game, but for a budget release that can be had for a fraction of its launch price today, it’s probably worth ignoring the discourse and giving a shot.

This is how not to make a Sonic game

Borrowed from a friend as a joke. Took it home and started playing for fun. I finished in about 3 hours before my dinner was done cooking. Unintentionally, mind you. This was a purely casual playthrough.
