New Generation gets all the praise I gave 2nd Impact for leading up to a better game but none of the praise I gave it on its own merits. New Generation is baaaad. At least the sprites are pretty.

A pretty divisive SF game, but for good reason.

To start with the good the sprite work for this game is pretty damn good and gameplay wise I do like it, but in terms of the roster it suffers quite a bit.

Judging from the title it sounds like they were maybe thinking of going down the succession route which coming off one of the most most iconic fighting games of all time is in my opinion a bad move, which even then they didn't fill commit to and some characters feel like older characters redone.

I played as Elena.

Passing from SF II and Alpha 1 to this never felt so satisfying.

this feels like a prototype, and it was a full released game LOL.

I totally get and have read about the development history this game had, and how that affected all versions, which makes all balance decisions make sense as to why they are like that.
I see the heart they put into this even with the little experience they had, but despite everything, this version is indefensible

Kind of insane how we went from this to Third Strike. Love the sprite work, but this is probably the worst iteration of SFIII.

Only Street Fighter game that doesn't get a 4 or 5 star rating from me and I don't even remember this being popular when it came out, I mean yeah new characters are a good thing but not the whole roster with only 2 returning characters 3rd strike brought some more back but still not very many.

The way people talk down on this game on here like it went out of its way to ruin their experience is nuts, unless you're complaining about the unrefined mechanics introduced here most complaints are nitpicks considering this is only the first rendition of SF3

While the gameplay is admittedly rough, it is really cool to see how just a few (ok, maybe more than a few) tweaks led to the masterpiece that is 3rd Strike. And although the urban atmosphere of 3S isn't really present here, it's still a really pretty game with some solid tracks to boot. Gill's voice is really goofy too idk why he kind of sounds like this guy
