This is a short but sweet Metroidvania with a really cool hook where you slow down or even freeze time to attack. The core combat is standard castlevania slashing but the time manipulation adds a whole layer to the combat not seen in most in this genre. Enemies can overwhelm the player resulting in a sort of bullet hell that is manageable when time is stopped, there is a meter of course that can be filled by getting close to dangers without actually touching them. This encourages aggressive play and rewards high skill level.
The game world is well designed with plenty of neat secrets and constant stream of new mechanics. There are some fun boss battles that really push the mechanics and result in sweaty palms as mastery of the combat system is needed.
I really enjoyed all that I played but it ends way too soon, this game is about 6 hours long which felt like it was just hitting its stride by the time it ended. I felt there was much more the game could have offered, we just skimmed the surface of this combat system.
Overall score: 7.7

Fun, but very short metroidvania. The time stop mechanic was so much fun to play around with, but at the same time, it also makes me wish that the game had more meat on its bones. The level design was good too, but the metroidvania elements almost felt like an afterthought, with you not having much reason or opportunity to backtrack with new powers. Just like the original Touhou games, the best part of this game were the boss fights and the musics. The remixes of various Touhou songs were brilliant, and the bosses were great to fight, especially in conjunction with the graze and time manipulation mechanics. As I said before, it's a good game, but I just wish there was more to it. Maybe we'll get a sequel with a PCB and/or IN campaign.
The DIO game I always wanted.
Even if you don't know shit about Touhou like me, you won't be lost with the game's minimal story, so go for it if it looks interesting to you.
The mechanics are perfectly thought out and the levels and even some of the amazing bosses have time fuckery such as some enemies, projectiles or hazards moving only when time is stopped, or becoming reversed. The only problem is that strangely, this becomes less prevalent in the last and extra stages, and it left me wanting a boss that used all the time fuckery against you.

Pois lhe apresento touhou Luna Nights

might be the best intro game to touhou if youre here for the characters
the entire scarlet wacko gang is here and you can throw chainsaws (based)
probably my favorite metroidvania if im gonna be honest, its long enough to satisfy my massive brain and not too long that it takes 10 minutes just to get back to the start to break one (1) box
also the music is fantastic holy shit
10/10 game
dont pay for the kappas wares.

I wasn't into Touhou but I played Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue and was pleasantly surprised. I'm very picky with Metroidvanias. Most of them today either lean too hard into the RPG elements of Castlevania, which why I love the game the leveling and constant item switching got too much in later entries of the series. Metroid is all about the movement options. If Super Metroid didn't have the dash, Screw Attack, and other unlocked movement options, it would be boring with all the backtracking. While the upgrades in this game are fairly simple, the core mechanics are super solid. The time controlling mechanics are very well implemented and the games makes full use of it. It's a pretty short game but I'll recommend it to anyone that likes 2D platformers/action games.
A must-play for Metroidvania fans or even for someone looking to try the genre.
It borrows very heavily from Symphony of the Night (down to the walk cycle of the player character), but it does a great job standing out with the sheer creativity of Sakuya's time powers in gameplay as well as the INCREDIBLE boss fights.
Only reason it isn't a 10/10 is the game takes a bit too long to get into its own element, but when it does, its stellar.

I actually have a video where I speak about this game in depth, a triple feature with two other fangames, which can be seen here (good ol' self shill, Kirbonic. Also the audio is a little bit subpar as I had yet to buy a blue yeti yet lol): https://youtu.be/cUvH9yuuaOc
But to condense it into a quick textual review, its one of the genuine most creative and mechanically interesting Metroidvania's I've ever played. Gorgeous spriteart, a great boss roster, phenomenal music, fantastic level design, and tight gameplay. It's simply one of the best Touhou fangames ever made, and in my opinion, one of the best games to ever come out of the Touhou franchise as a whole.
