I have never played a PaRappa game, and I don't know if I ever will. This is a really charming rhythm game that's easy to play, but it feels impossible to master. I honestly still don't understand this game completely, but it's entertaining at the very least.

feels WAY better than Parappa 1. Great tunes all around. It being playable this time around makes finishing levels satisfying, while still being challenging

Underrated as hell, especially compared to "PaRappa". I'm not sure which game I prefer, but "UmJammer Lammy" is the one I seem to come back to the most. Take that how you will.

I think the call and repeat formula using a guitar actually works better in UmJammer Lammy than Parappa the Rapper. I like Parappa and think its really cute, but matching buttons to call out words can make the rap sound super stiff and weird when your not that great at the game, like me. The guitar sounds so much more natural, although Guitar games would kinda be done to death in the next 10 years (A rapping game is still such a unique concept). I can’t decide though which story I like better between this and Parappa 1, there both so batshit and kinda feels ahead of its time. All this said though, I still cant really wrap my head around how the grading system works. Some lines I feel I preform perfectly, yet I get knocked down for it. And others I mess up a note and start mashing at the end out of panic, but it doesn't dock me. It results in me kinda sucking at the game and barley scraping by on each level. Its still fun though and not COMPLETELY BROKEN like Parappa Remastered was.

new jenny comfort media dropped

UmJammer Lammy has wonderfully bizarre settings and characters with the same charming visual style as PaRappa the Rapper, but with even further chaos and graphical trickery. The cutscenes are especially a trip, mashing bubblegum pop visuals of the late 90s with madcap PG-13 Tex Avery/Alex Winter bullshit (genuinely shocked SCEA had a problem with Lammy going to hell but NOT the opener to Baby Baby).

Unfortunately, in spite of its upped presentation, and honestly cool beatmapping, it has the weakest song selection of any PaRappa game. Vital Idol's music is downright terrible, and it doesn't help this has the same timing issues that PaRappa 1 seems to have. I would chalk it up to emulation if PaRappa 2, even on the latency-plagued PCSX2, wasn't comparatively breezy.

A memorable and brief ride for sure, but if you really want a fantastic guitar rhythm game, Gitaroo Man is the better option.

Lammy gets kinkshamed compilation.

Its Parappa 1 engine, so still extremely fucking beta and annoying as fuck to play, but the music is lit! Lammy is sick, and milk can go dummy hard 8/10

This game pissed me off so much i fucking hate Parappa 1 engine so much so Parappa 2 is the only one i can say is actually fun and feels good to play but at the same time i love this game's vibes its the most painful half star ive ever given anything ever only bc of how much it sheerly annoyed me to play :(

main character dies and goes to hell

A much bigger improvement from parappa 1, with way more content, streamlined mechanics and a system that makes freestyling a lot more applicable and feel a lot better.
The communication to the player that freestyling is encouraged still is not there but it even feels better to just hit the notes themselves.
The story and visuals are just as charming as parappa, although waaaaay more out there but it works to the benefit of the game.

PUT IT ON THE FIRE REAL GOOD
PUT IT OUT COLD AND FEEL GOOD
IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU'RE THE ONE
FIREMAN'S DAILY WORK CAN'T BE DONE

Incredibly charming and plays excellent, unfortunately the A.I. for multiplayer is poor.

Actually feels a lot less demanding and strict as PaRappa, or maybe I'm just used to the timing now. But I rarely had those moments I did in PaRappa where I felt like I was doing the same thing over and over but getting different results.

The music in this game varies from being the best of the series to songs I really don't care for, but overall I would say this soundtrack is better than PaRappa, and in general I think this is a really good improvement on PaRappa's style. Also the multiplayer is probably really fun, so in general I'm really happy with this follow up.

playing the demo for this on Playstation Underground Jampack Winter '99 made me trans

UmJammer Lammy is an allegory for the daily hurdles and frustrations creatives have to go through in order to just get to that goal of being able to show and express their art, after dealing with external pressure from society and internal feelings of anxiety and not knowing how to communicate with other people, if not done through art.

its absolutely insane and the some dev's were completely overworked but, this game has a lot going for it

Some of the songs suck, but Lammy is my inspiration

A spinoff of the rhythm-game pioneer PaRappa The Rapper, featuring better gameplay. The story is unique and incredible, and mastering the ways of Parappa-type gameplay is a very very fun journey. Can be hard; hasn't aged the best. Great soundtrack, great visual design, deserves more recognition.

My friend left his copy in my PS1 and I beat it in one sitting (Sorry bout that). Even with a CRT the game was stupid hard but it was a really fun time.

vital idol gives me psychic damage i love this game

i, too, love slipping on a banana peel and then going to hell
best part of the game by far

It's PaRappa the Rapper - but functional!

I played this on an emulator that could NOT handle it. It glitched out and skipped constantly on every song, and made everything sound terrible. I
struggled through, constantly using savestates, just so I could watch the cutscenes and listen to the music without feeling guilty that I didn't beat the game. Worth it, but i still hope that someday i'll get to play this for real.

Also I'm in love with Lammy

a game that I like to play by emulator. it's a game that I love its music
