Marked as 'completed', as much as an endless grind can be 'completed'. Fun and interesting as you explore the places to go and the story that's there, but the moment you reach any sort of endgame the grind sets in. Days of farming for one upgrade, frustrating design that doesn't let you know how you can even find which upgrade you need in order to progress, combat that can be brute forced with what feels like hacky and exploitative weapon modifications that eventually mean you hit a brick wall of feeling like you've made the best possible weapon you could get, but still not being able to do enough damage to kill the enemies that chase you through every level after a certain point.
Imma be honest, I tried this once in like 2014 and couldn't get into it at all. 5-6 years later I picked it up because Grendel was hot to me, aaaand now I've clocked in a good number of hours. It's got a nice gameplay loop and probably the most engaging gameplay I've seen in an MMO, but it's bogged down with overcomplicated resource gathering and grinding. Its story from what I can tell is pretty much a joke, and unfortunately the game tends to try to force-feed it to you. In any case, I find the general concept and aesthetic to be cool and I still find Grendel pretty hot. If you think you'll like the game from the look of the gameplay, you probably will. Just be aware that it's a massive grind.
once a zero cool game about flipping out with real ultimate power in corridors crammed with mobs; now focused on riding mounts in empty open worlds to fish and mine (????) for the 999 faction grinds put in for player retention, and they've scaled down your power too. has become just another longform grind sticker book. continues to stray further and further from original hook by blowing budget on things like slow clunky robos in a game everyone downloaded to be a fast agile ninja. movement still some of the h@ttest in the biz but it seems like the last thing this company wants you to do anymore is have fun
warframe suffers from having a very slow start but once you're past that point, it becomes one of, if not the best free-to-play shooter experience there is. active devs with massive content updates on about a yearly basis with each content drop, though it suffers heavily from not picking up earlier. has a good loadout customization system with great minmaxing potential where it's great fun to break the game's limits, but suffers from taking too long leveling the gear to level your mastery rank to get more gear to farm more credits, etc. it's free, so no harm in trying it and seeing if you like it
It has a distinct artstyle as well as a fun movement system and gameplay, but otherwise it has a short gameplay loop wherein you mostly focus on spamming trivialized missions over and over to level up frames and weapons for a higher mastery rank. It's a great horde shooter to just throw on, but there's generally a lack of good challenging content - although the randomization of Duviri and the Steel Path Circuit was a step in the right direction to shake up people's optimized powercrept builds. I hope to see more challenging content in the future.
All the players can also become busted as hell for all of the content, literally to the point where people can one-shot any boss in the game. Previously this has been handled with bosses that have long invincibility phases/multiple phases which feel obnoxious to play against, but some more recent bosses are experimenting with damage dampening to offset how damn strong players can be (archons are an awful bullet sponge fight, I hope they get changed). Nonetheless there is still not really any engaging difficult content to progress through which offers any tangible reward - for the most part you can just buy everything from other players.
The story and characters are engaging, but man I wish we would get it more often.
