It's alright but aged. Crosshair feels oddly off, SBDs have a ridiculous amount of health (like 500 bullets to kill. I figured out that knifing them around in circles was way more effective if I had no sniper or anti armor ammo which was all the time. Knife is super op so I'd advise getting used to that.), geonosians and scavenger droids are very annoying, endless hordes of enemies appear even when you're done clearing the area and are trying to stock up, having to command your men to do literally anything that's common sense, team not shooting at enemies a lot of times. Another huge issue was having to tell my guys to heal themselves all the time, which never really mattered anyways because if anyone loses their health in this game, chances are you were always going to die regardless because most of my deaths are just me getting one shotted by tanky and high damage enemies. Besides that, the game is cool. I liked the commando's voice acting even though it didn't really make sense that one was Temura Morrison and the rest were someone else. The levels were super repetitive and unnecessarily long at times to meet the 6-8 hour mark, especially Kasshyk and parts of the Acclimator level. I see some people complaining about bad batch (I never saw it) and it not living up to this game, but tbh it wasn't that far off from my teamates doing literally nothing and not hitting enemies unless they were behind sniper cover. Beat the game on medium difficulty in 8 hours. It would get annoying particularly when I would only die due to what objective I'd prioritize out of the 50 on my plate. That ending really was hilarious where it was basically confirmed that we were a one man army prepping for the actual invasion force. That's literally what it was the whole game which really isn't lore accurate to was commandos really are. Still liked it though despite all this don't get me wrong. It has that novelty and uniqueness that only this game has. I prefer other eras in the expanded universe besides these little sotries in the clone wars, but I still enjoyed this a lot. You should still definitely play it if you like Star Wars, especially the Clone Wars, this is one of the only games that gives that authentic Clone Wars vibe (even if the commandos weren't all that accurate like I mentioned earlier.) Sev's death at the end felt random and shoehorned but it was epic, and that ending was awesome.

It's a real shame I never played this game earlier because, despite it being focused on clone troopers (which was one of the things I didn't like about the prequals) the team behind this game made them all varied and interesting with their own personalities and each one specialising in a certain field, however all commandos can do the jobs, just some are better than the others.

The story is actually quite interesting as you lead a group of elite troopers, Delta Squad and there are a lot of neat little things with the UI such as how when you get blood or machine oil splatted on your visor, it cleans itself. Same with rain too. Aside from your pistol and your ever-changing rifle (that has three modes, Assault, sniper and rocket) and various types of grenades you can also pick up a single alien weapon, which is a shame you can only pick up the one as there are a variety of weapons from the Genoshan's energy beam cannon, the Trandoshen's shotgun to even the Wookiee Bowcaster.

I also loved using the melee weapon which is a blade that comes out of your left gauntlet, generally killing most creatures in one or two strikes.

The story ends just before the end of episode three and before the order is given to fire on the Jedi. The game also contains cool unlockables to learn about the game and it's production, which is something generally missing from most games these days sadly.

Though as much as I like the game, there is one really annoying enemy. A real fuck-you kind of enemy. There are these flying droids that drain your shield and health and by the time you shoot them, them kamikaze straight at you, often insta-killing you so you know, fuck those things. I'd take on a spider-droid anyday.

And if you're not sold on it yet, the character you play as (Delta 38) is played by the actor who played Jango Fett.

I'd recommend picking this up when you have a chance.

Squad based, FPS that was ahead of its time

I would need to suddenly enjoy Star Wars more, or have an easier way to play this game, to ever finish it.

Absolutely incredible game. Still holds up well and is veryu fun. I would say my only complaint is that the game started to lose me in the Kashyyyk section. I also thought the ending was pretty rushed otherwise this would have been an easy 10/10.

Great Star Wars fps and has a cool cast. The ending was good, we need more of this.

Replayed on Series S via backwards compatibility. Honestly? This game barely gets a 4/5. It's a pretty short game I honestly enjoyed, but feel it could've used more time to flesh out its concepts. If they added more weapon variety, did a bit of squad AI polishing, and did a little bit more with the level design, I think RC could've been better.

Overall, Republic Commando is worth the $10 on Steam and the Xbox store. It's a fun romp you could chew through in a weekend and well worth a look if you wanted a Star Wars title that didn't focus on Jedi/Sith characters for once. Still wish we got Imperial Commando to polish these ideas, but alas.

An FPS that is just ok. The Star Wars theme helps, and the squad command mechanics are innovative, but this game shows its age and the levels are so repetitive that its easy to get bored. Also the enemies (especially Super Battle Droids) are such bullet sponges that it can get a bit frustrating when 5 or 6 attack you at once.

i was too poor to buy halo 3 and an xbox 360 so i got this at 90% off on a hand me down og xbox

Fun didnt age so well but the squad mechanics are quite good

Peak Star Wars, best stand alone story by far

Realistically, is this more a 3 or 4/5? Probably.

But the kid me says otherwise. The atmosphere in the second proper level is unlike most anything in other Star Wars games, and I loved this squad so much. Still waiting for a sequel, someday.

I see why people love this game but I just never really got into it. I personally think it needed more actual cutscenes and story moments. The game also has random difficulty spikes.

This Game needs a remake or a Sequel. Make it happen, DIsney! The O.G Galactic Commando SOCOM.

The era when it was banger Star Wars game after banger Star Wars game.

Possibly the most fun you can have playing a Star Wars game, it's a robust entry in the tactical shooters and has a lot of setpieces and cutscenes reminiscing the movies. It's no Rainbow Six Vegas, but Republic Commando has a lot of love poured into it.

Some sections are harder than others and it feels as polished as a mid 2000s game can feel, but after playing with mods and getting an HD texture pack the game shines in presentation: from deserts to tropical jungles, that one level in space and so on, Republic Commando takes you in the hottest and most extreme battlefields in the Clone Wars. If you're a fan of Star Wars, you definitely should play this game, just don't forget mods and that you couldn't save him.

Um fps tático com skin de star wars, não achei nada de mais, é bem competente no que se propõe a fazer

Put 3 clips into a super battle Droid and it's still standing wtf

Yup, this is definitely my favorite Star Wars FPS game (don't consider Jedi Academy an FPS game due to playing it mostly in 3rd person lightsaber mode). The team based combat really helps this game differentiate from other games in the genre. Forming strategies with Delta Squad to take out the enemy adds some fun challenges. The variety of weapons this game provides is really fun, too, with a surprising variety of enemies to take out throughout the three missions of the campaign. I really wish there was a sequel to this because I surprising enjoyed the hell out of it.

go fuck that guy over there!!!!!

Maybe Star Wars can be....good?

sorry KOTOR and fallen order, but this might be my favorite star wars game. it's short, but sweet. it's a game about the boys. republic commando is what i want out of a halo game, but in star wars. commanding the team is really fun, and they've each got very distinct Silly Little Guy personalities. hopefully we see more than just Scorch show up in the bad batch tv show. on a technical level, the game is very old and is hard to set up on newer machines. if you're alright with playing at a low resolution in 4:3 with fucked up mouse acceleration on the menu, continue. if not, maybe check out the community guides and mods before playing.

A great FPS game that I would love to play Co-Op one day

SW:RC comes from the beginning of the “hey we can makes games play kinda like moooovviieees” era, where all the exciting stuff happens around you in the distance, but your own contributions are scripted and lackluster. The beginning cutscenes are mildly interesting, showing you an unusual side of Star Wars, but then the gameplay starts. The main weapon is a sluggish rifle with sluggish laser bolts – none of the sharp, fast, percussive feedback of the first Star Wars FPS Dark Forces – and the touted command system is essentially a holo-prompt guided participation-trophy mini-game.

a classic halo-like shooter with a good story

Surprisingly solid for what it was.

I used to think this was a horror game because of the trailer on my Battlefront game disc :)

Empty spaceship is best sci-fi concept. Every sci-fi game should have a level like that. The buildup from thriller/horror to proper warfare is brilliant. Even Kashyyk at night was kinda scary.

Loved Scorch and John Williams score is 24/7 which ruled.

Real ones saw the discarded lightsaber on the abandoned ship.

Not only it is a great FPS but the story is really good.
