Enjoyable game, love the time stop and grazing mechanic. Definitely see that Team Ladybug took a lot from this to make a better game in Lodoss War. Not the biggest fan of platforming in this one though so could've done without that. Also I didn't find much in terms of items and upgrades so I just played with whatever I got, not sure if I missed anything important/game-changing. In terms of difficulty I think this game was more difficult compared to Lodoss War, which is interesting. Overall was a fun game, Remilia was tough as heck.
Touhou Luna Nights [Xbox One]

Whenever you think about the kinds of things you can experience in video games, sooner or later you come up with an idea that everyone has thought of at some point, and you inevitably ask yourself, "Why hasn't anyone made it?". It feels good to know that at least one of those times when you wondered about it, IT was made. now with 100% more cute anime girls!
While it was short, it undeniably has amazing replay value. This game surprised me with how well made it really is, a personal dislike of mine is that I find myself getting lost in Metroidvanias frequently but everything remained linear when I played this game. Everything about this remained fun, the mechanics were simple yet they feel intuitive. To some extent, this should be one of the base standards for Metroidvanias and I find it super easy to recommend this game.
Scratched the Metroidvania itched I was craving. A lot of this game was lost on me since I'm not a Touhou bro but the gameplay was great. The boss design was really interesting with my only gripes being that attacked were always repeated in the same pattern and near the end most bosses had large windows to dodge and heal in a way that killed a lot of the tension.
I actually "finished" (got to the credits of the game but didn't actually beat the post credits boss) this one back in like 2019 on gamepass but grabbed it on steam a little while ago. Didn't actually finish it this go around but I don't really care since I had my fun with it. Cool metroidvania with more focus on the combat and bosses in particular which is very touhou like but puts me off of wanting to play it more since I go into these types of games with world exploration in mind.
There really is something special about games that do so much with their mechanics in a 2-3 hour timespan that you don't mind replaying them 5 times in a row. It's enhanced somewhat if you're already a Touhou fan, but the game is so incredibly captivating by itself - in terms of gameplay, level design, and music - that any knowledge on the series is optional.
