Mind-blowing experience. Delve into it blind I won't spoil anything

Really interesting concept for a top down shooter! Outside of the bosses, enemies lack any sort of personality but it's pretty much always fun and satisfying to fight them, outside of with a few select characters. All in all a nice time killer and a big improvement from the original itch.io version.

pretty good arcade shooter. pulls off its gimmick amazingly, abilities are fun to use (especially when you go from near death to absolutely fine)

does get repetitive after a while though

THIS CONCEPT IS SO FUCKING COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL AAAAAAAAAA THAT RULES ::) its just a simplistic fun arcadey shooter

i think some of the abilities are nice too with keeping shit fresh when you go further, but i dont knowwww the bulk of the tense moments is just from "okay did i get totally smothered and i have no way to pushback the window enough to get out.." "Yeah!"
it's such a unique thing to try and.. Literally pushback against while you keep going.,.. BUUUUUUUT i do think it gets a lil repetitive
Its a nice arcadey shoot em up time though

this is just witchcraft at this point

i can't wait for more people to do magical things with godot

feels increasingly rare to find fun gameplay hooks so intrinsically tied to the format in which they're presented. Windowkill delivers this with a liquid drum n bass glazing. delish.

performance issues creep in as it busies up, stopping it just short of that peak arcade-sensation

A fun, addictive little roguelike/arcade shooter thingamagig that has some insanely cool concepts at play with its usage of the game window. The main thing holding it back is the small scope; the limited variety of enemies, bosses (of which none are particularly fun to fight), upgrades, and abilities can result in repetition setting in pretty quickly. Granted, the game just came out yesterday, so hopefully, more content will be added in the future since I think the foundation of a really great game is there, it just needs to be built upon, you know?

Holy shit, easily one of the most technically impressive games I've played in months. The first game to make me audibly "What?!" "That's insane!" since Viewfinder, and honestly I think I was more gutturally impressed by this. It's quite difficult for my ape brain to manage, with multi-tasking being the name of the game, but it's such an exciting premise I cannot wait to see what else is done with it.

fantastic premise, unfortunately I was too good and broke the game

Great tech demo and sign of things to come, but the balancing is kind of wack (there isn't really a point to doing anything with the stars other than manifesting extra bullets and getting peer level 2, other than the secret ending). Great idea, just needs a little time in the oven to be the best example of a shmup done in this way. Excited to see what the dev does next.

apesar de não se muito fã de jogos nesse estilo, a proposta é tão única e interessante que me cativou logo de cara!! jogos que mexem com a própria estrutura da tela de maneira criativa são definitivamente algo (e eu adoro)

A fun little twin stick shooter like none you have ever played before. Windowkill gets bonus points for just being so novel. It's been a while since I have played any game and just been confused and amused by "How in the hell did the devs do this?!"

Very much worth an hour or two of your time. Yes, there is an victory state!

This is really fun and super easy to zone out in, and it executes the main gimmick (wacky window do unexpected thing) super well. My one complaint is that it did feel pretty quick to see everything the game had outside of achievement hunting, but with the really good official mod support (the dev included the source code and the custom ver of godot used, thats nuts) and how GOOD that secret boss is, I don't mind all too much.

So fucking cool and fun, have replayed several times but feels a bit repetitive after a certain point. Does it's concept very well.

love the concept and the different characters & abilities use windows pretty uniquely

Fun rogue-like twin-stick shooter; unfortunately it just didn't really click for me. The gimmick of warping the windows is unique and impressive, but I found that the gameplay loop grew stale way to quickly for me to want to sink my teeth into completing it.

What at first appears a simple idea, is executed superbly and with a skill that is evident at the first launch. Stark, and incredibly effective artwork, roaring dnb music that never seems to grow stale, interesting upgrade and perk mechanics (that only sometimes fall flat), and to top it all off: gameplay that is effortless to pick up but but hard to master (making it all the more satisfying when you do).

My only complaints would be the lack of boss, and upgrade variety - all runs end up practically identical after just a few minutes because of the sparse selection of unique upgrades - and the seemingly useless perks which are meant to be the big boss rewards.

All in all, this game is a brilliantly fun package of adrenaline and dopamine that anyone can enjoy. Also insanely cool to see how the whole game interacts within the multiple windows.

Divertido e desafiador, o conceito me lembra windowframe, apesar de serem jogos completamente diferentes.
Tem alguns problemas na hora do movimento da janela, o que é meio frustrante considerando que esse é o diferencial do jogo.

cool gimmick game it does look different and it is like a type of gimmick that maybe has crossed your mind at some point but you didn't quite know how it would work and what was done here seems to be done pretty well I do wish the game leaned even more into the gimmick and that it had more enemies and bosses especially, there are only like 4 or 5 different bosses it took me like 15 minutes to see the whole content of the game which is fine for a free game but definitely wouldn't mind seeing this expanded into a bigger thing

Finally, after 44 years… Asteroids 2.

Windowkill is one of the coolest, most creative games I’ve played this year. The idea of what is essentially rouge-like (can we give this a better genre name, like reset-runners or something) asteroids but the screen shrinks. Except it isn’t shrinking in the sense that the borders/edges are closing in, but instead the window that the game is played in is shrinking. As you pilot your little circle shooting at other aggressive geometric figures try to damage you. Inescapable, right? If the window just infinitely shrinks, there’s no getting out of it and the run’ll be over in seconds. Or it would, if you weren’t able to grow the window by shooting the edges to expand it. So the game is not only weaving between and blasting foes, building up points to exchange for increases/abilities, but also quite literally fighting for space. The game continues to build on this, but I’ll leave that for the intrigued to discover. (the game is name-your-price on itch, give it a look)

That said, the game has some definite issues, specifically in terms of performance. I didn’t even play for very long or very far, but performance hiccups were rampant and unrelenting, and I’ve been told they only get worse as you get further into the game. However, these faults weren’t enough to deter me from losing about a half hour more than anticipated playing, and that should speak volumes. Fortunately, the game is still being worked on and developed, and I’m confident it’ll smooth out the hiccups and perhaps even expand on the already sublime gameplay.

This game shows inventiveness to a degree that is rarely seen, and it ought to be given the credit and attention it deserves. This is one to look out for, folks.
