I went to play DDR on a local arcade that opened up shop recently and that has sent me into an intense Rhythm game brainrot I haven't gone through since I played Theatrhythm Curtain Call and Elite Beat Agents. Now I'm sitting here setting this game up (along with fucking Osu!).

That doesn't mean I'm good at it (yet), I added a song from the karaoke of Yakuza 6, and it's only charted in hard and expert difficulties, and I have made it my objective to become good enough at this game to be able to play that one, oh and to maybe make some songs I like into playable charts.

Eu jogo Clone Hero faz alguns anos.

DEU CERTO. Surpreendentemente ficou bem divertido.

not having a guitar makes playing guitar hero pretty difficult huh

It's a great idea, but a couple things are a bit disappointing to me. I only have a RB4 guitar controller for the ps4, and that loses some functionality inherently. Not the game's fault, but still disappointing that some of the fun functions of the game are limited. But I can see past it and map an alternate way to use the whammy and tilt functions. It's also a bit hard to find large packs of songs I personally am interested in, since it's a loose collection of google drive folders. Of course, also not much the devs can do, so I don't hold it against em. I do also wish it had pre-packaged background screens instead of requiring you to install them separately. Other than that, all of the hard work put into it is well-appreciated so I can have a relatively simpler way to play RB on the PC.

i hate this game

its guitar hero with all the songs you want and with fun gamemodes

If you like Guitar Hero/Rock Band this is the ideal way to play it. Even if you don't go grab the easily found rips of every Harmonix/Activision chart (Google clone hero spreadsheet) you could just grab any of the tons of fantastic custom chart packs that are out there and have a great time.

Simply put, the best feeling GH-like you will ever play. This engine feels perfect, it’s so easy to set up and calibrate, and so customizable that there’s really nothing to complain about here.

Combine that with the ludicrous amounts of custom content (that’s often better than anything from the official games) available for this game thanks to the incredibly talented and constantly active community, and you have a package that’s damn near impossible to turn down.

I gotta say I still miss the animated backgrounds from the base games (tho there is a workaround using pre-rendered videos, but it’s just not the same imo) and the career modes (no workaround for these as far as I know), and that alone is good enough reason for me to continue to go back to the official games.

If this game were able to mimic those features it would be a 10 for me, at the very least it’s without a doubt the most comprehensive experience for quickplay, and the easiest to slip into on a whim. Extremely accessible and perfectly caters to every level of player, thank god for the fan community

i have played over 100 hours of this but theres absolutely no record of it so i'll just leave the playtime blank

This is an open-source project attempting to replicate both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises for the PC. It excels in this, and you pretty much have access to all the songs you want since you can just download them. You might have to dig a bit since I won't tell you how in this review. :)

This would be the definitive music game, but there is one major problem that renders it all but unplayable for most people: There is a serious lack of compatible controllers. A simple Rock Band guitar isn't enough--you also need adapters, and specific kinds of guitars in order to play it. For drums, you also need extremely rare/expensive adapters or an equally expensive e-drum kit. If you already have one, it is plug and play for some kits which is very nice. Still, it'll cost you about $150 if I remember correctly.

Hopefully the new Rock Band peripherals releasing in 2024 will give people an accessible entry point for this definitive rendition of beloved rhythm game franchises. If they do, this will likely be 5 stars.

It is what it is. Functions. Satisfies my plastic guitar (and drums) urges

Meu gosto musical só é o que ele é hoje por causa desse jogo

Você pode personalizar quase TUDO no game, um bilhão de musicas e a vibe de jogar o jogo cara, perfeito, só isso.

Why the actual fuck did they decide that of all the games Guitar Hero 3 was the engine and hit detection to emulate. Oh yeah, because if they didn't all those stupid kaizo charts would be literally impossible.

And that's not going into all the missing Rock Band features, or how the high score system lacks the most basic features...

I haven't tried YARG yet, hopefully it's better.

Near perfection, Everything I've ever wanted in a Guitar Hero game I found it in CH, no lag, customizable, multi-instrument support, community-made charts, and also it doesn't force you to have a guitar controller like the later GH titles (I play with keyboard lol), and did I mention it's FREE!

As a Bemani/BMS simp, I would kill to have a client as slick and easy to set up as Clone Hero. Customization of elements of the UI is really easy to tweak. The game supports multiple instruments competently. Song packs are easy to find and cover ever commercial release from GH/RB and even more fanmade selections.

As much as I adore the Komoney in house artists and the days worth of music they've produced, I'm sorry, it's nice to have a rhythm game that has shit that people in my personal life have listened to before. It's not like you can boot up Pop'n Music and play Ace of Spades.

Ah, clone hero. This is pretty much as close of an endgame as you can get when it comes to having an accessible casual guitar hero game out there. This shit is the swiss army knife of guitar hero, as it practically works with everything. If you have a 5-fret guitar for pretty much any console, this supports it (some PC fenangling may be required). If you want to play a song from a guitar hero or rock band game, people have converted pretty much every main and DLC song from both series to work here. If you have custom songs for either previous guitar hero clone games or custom DLC tracks for rock band games, you can easily convert them to work here too. The rock band drums and keyboard even work!!! I think that the timing windows are more forgiving than actual guitar hero games but frankly only the hardest of the hardcore players are even really going to notice that kind of thing. The only minor gripes that I have is that there's no rock-band style co-op way to play songs where everyone shares a rock meter and can revive and whatnot, there's no vocals implemented in any form, and the vibes of playing with the game-rendered mocap guitar hero bands and stages aren't preserved as this is primarily just a song player. Also for a lot of custom songs you kind of just have to hope that a custom charter has the same music taste as you because of what I can tell charting new songs is really hard so yeah (where the FUCK are my idolmaster customs?!?!?) Also Also a lot of customs are naturally difficulty creeped to accustom more seasoned players so new players usually have to stick to official rips or customs from people generous enough to do full-difficulty charts. But despite those various gripes, if you want to just get into playing a vast selection of songs either by yourself or in a party group with minimal strings attached, this game is OP. I've spent so many hours with so many different people playing all sorts of different songs with this game, it truly is one of the few games that can honestly bring everyone together in a way that the limited setlists of regular guitar hero/rock band games can't. Part of the reason why I feel like guitar hero hasn't tried another reboot attempt is just from the fact this game borderline invalidates any need for something like that to be made, the fans have basically perfected the platform at this point. Go hunt down an X-plorer and get shredding already, what are you waiting for?!?
