Starting to get the recognition it deserves in the franchise. So unique in every aspect. Really want to replay this one

On a ranking from majora's mask to tears of the kingdom, this is better than skyward sword.

I wanted to like this game... Really... Beginning is super promising with lots of lovable dorks, pixar like colorful world, new mechanics to discover, a huuuuge world etc. It does have all the things I need really, until game starts to get broken that is...

First problem is... Do you remember there is an infamous ign review that says too much water? This sentence is appropriate for this game fully. Map is biiiiig and you use wind song again and again and again to go somewhere(until you get the swift sail) and it gets ooooolllddd... And sadly most of the islands are super small challenge islands rather than something suprising. The most interesting ones for me was the fairy islands because they give permanent upgrades to you... That's it... So what you left is... Mostly empty map that you are forced to sail between until you get fast travel(also you need to look a guide for it) and swift sail. This takes sooo much time, if there is a way to check the sailing time, I wouldn't be shocked if it's something closer to half of the game time with just spending sailing on empty sea...

Second problem isn't that big but still... first half feels a bit too similar to ocarina of time for me. How you ask? With getting the same items again mostly. Yeah they tried to use them in more inventive ways like using them for stealthing around, using boomerang as a wind, using grappling to steal things etc But I felt it didn't differ that much when it comes to solving...

Game almost saves it for me with the last two real dungeons tho. They are what makes this game apart from ocarina of time. These last two dungeons require you to use not just your items but also you use abilities of the people you escort in the dungeon. So you have to use your brain to both combine your items and the powers of the people you escort. Hell yeah that's the thing I like! Combining abilities for solving rather than spamming one dungeon item to beat everything.

But I said almost because... After that everything gets broken... There is something called tri force hunting that forces you to get loooooots of gems and fight on the mini combat dungeons(they are boring tbh). Not just that, there is no last dungeon... You just do a boss rush with fighting every boss again then now bum final boss here... HUH!? At least story is still fun and animations are colorful to watch but... In a gameplay logic, there is almost nothing new after that 2 dungeons...

That makes me sad because in the beginning I was like whoaaa this game gonna be awesooommeee mood and in the last half... I felt tired and saying that just breaks my heart

The Wind Waker!

-A classic. I think. I've never actually beat this game before tonight; both times I've tried it I stopped shortly after visiting Hyrule for the first time.

-The world map really loses its appeal when you realize there are only a limited number of actual islands - the majority of the spaces on the quadrant are islands you'll only ever visit once, be it for the plot or the collectible it contains. Sailing turns mostly tedious after this, as you sail by each and every empty island, though the Swift Sail added in this version alleviates it somewhat by making sailing fast and... Swift.

-But, it's very pretty. I'll always love the art style and it looks great in HD. The story is nice too. I love Tetra, she's such a cute iteration of Zelda.

-A very, very easy game. I spent a lot of time trying to get all of the heart pieces before I realized how little the extra health was helping. There is hero mode, but even after trying that appreciated extra, it's really easy to stock up on fairies or soup and faceroll the game with ease.

-Fun enough video game. Not perfect, and sometimes very disappointing, but has enough charm to still be enjoyable in spite of its flaws.

An ode to the past, and the hope of building a better future, this is what Zelda Wind Waker is.

After 10 years from playing Wind Waker (Gamecube version), i found myself with a sudden urge to replay this game, and out of all the new games I had started I said "Why not?", and so i jumped right in, but this time I chose the Wii U version.

The Wii U version does a great job upon the original game, it brings better graphics, better lightings and textures, while preserving the beautiful amd unique artstyle that got WW to receive the recognition it had obtained in the past, improving so much into the feeling and imersion on the exploration of the game.

I really love all this game has to offer, its vast open-sea to explore, full of islands that are remains of an old world, there's so much story and background around all of that, that people who played Ocarina of Time will understand it very well, it really amazes me this kinda of "world building" approach they decided to take.

Besides being so much fun in everything, Zelda Wind Waker honors an important predecessor, not only through its soundtrack, but in its world, its characters and the roles they must accept to ensure the safety of that new world, no matter how fractured it is, even thus, it is important that we let the sea wash away the past, so that we can sail, in search of building a new future and new lands.

I love the fact that they didn’t change the game too much, it takes a great game and just makes it look even better. I ended up beating this version and getting all the triforce pieces, which I didn’t do on the GameCube version. I prefer to play this one over the original just because of the improvements in the visuals. Still is super fun to sail around the map and explore. Then the dungeons and bosses are still some of the best in the series.

I liked this more than the original, still falls on its face near the end.

never completed it. beautiful ass game

The best Zelda stylistically no doubt. Fun dungeons and surprisingly engaging combat compared to previous entries.

This game is incredibly charming and cute. The characters are memorable and the OST is one of the best in the series.

The combat is just OoT but even more of a hack n slash and there's barely any enemy variety and the dungeons were (in my opinion) uninteresting in terms of gameplay. The story was something that I did enjoy but got a bit ruined by the expectations of it being set in the adult timeline of OoT.
I, for some reason, thought there was gonna be some kind of continuity but it was just a small "hey so uh yeah this was a thing" and while I'm not mad, I am in fact a bit dissapointed.

The minigames were good but just.. minigames
The treasure mechanic was cool at first and it felt like a big part of the game but it only gives you rupees so it quickly became boring.

Overall a game that I did enjoy! Just.. not too much. If I had to give a score from 1 to 100 I would give it a 76. It's good! Just not so much.

Who cares about its flaws it's so CHARMING and that final fight is just.. PERFECT.

Wind Waker looks and sounds really good yet is one of the most boring games I've ever played. The wonders of the Great Sea seem so appealing yet when you're able to explore it, you're met with a bunch of small islands with quests not worth doing and to make things worse, for a lot of the islands, you need the item from the last dungeon to explore it, so you don't even have the option to explore in the beginning and middle of the game! Out of all the dungeons in the game, I only liked two of them, the Wind and Earth temple. Tower of the Gods is my least favorite dungeon in the series and the other two are mid. The Great sea just acts as a tedious barrier to cross just to get to (mostly) mediocre dungeons and is the main reason why I don't like this game.

probably my favorite original zelda game. love the art style and the music.

Beat this in a discord call and got the hardest picture I've ever taken. Don't play this when you're tired

this game is just so fun to do literally anything. it's so fun to look at. i don't even know.

Being set in post-apocalyptic land, you would expect the world to be depressing, but the villages are flourishing, having to move on to create a new world. The towns reflect this in many different areas, adapting and even evolving to the new era that was forced onto them. The environmental design shows this incredibly well, and having played Ocarina of Time before this, seeing the remnants of the past does a great job at paying homage to the previous era.
This is one of my favourite aspects of the game, it really respects the Hero of Time's era, to the point where Outset Island shares a tradition of dressing their boys in the HoT's clothes when they reach the age the HoT was when he saved Hyrule - although a lot is forgotten, his heroism has not. Ganondorf is excellently used in this game, being the only person in this era who knew the HoT, he has been humbled and having lived in both these eras he has unique perspective of this reality, being a great foil to the other characters. He is so peak in this game.

The art style of this game is insane, I love it so much, and it fits the optimistic view the game has. The faces are very expressive, the animations are very cartoony - I just love how the world dramatically changing is shown through it's art style. This also goes with the main theme of the game, moving on from the past and creating a new future.
This is why the sailing excels, the music, colour and sense of exploration is such a great detour from the drama of the game's narrative. Learning about this new world, is so fun and seeing how many opportunities there are makes you excited to explore again and again. Sadly, I do believe it can be pretty restrictive early on with you not having the ability to solve puzzles until later, meaning you don't get any reward from finding these islands. Which is fine in general, but I do feel like it's done a bit too much in the early game.
About the gameplay: although not the most interesting in of itself, it does a great job at accompanying the overall vibe of the game. The dungeons are the weakest in the 3D series (so far) but they are not bad, they are just not mechanically complex. They are more so used as a spectacle and with the games stunning art style, going room-to-room is beautiful. It's very clear to me they prioritised vibes over mechanics and wanted to keep the game simple.

9/10

Good remake. They overdid the bloom effect a tiny bit but sooo pretty.

This is written from the perspective of somebody who has not completed Ooc nor MM.
This was the last 3d Zelda I played following Botw -> Totk -> TP HD.

Visuals and design:
It is not an exaggeration to say that for the most part the game holds up visually quite well due to its unique cell-shading style, and while some character designs are a bit too silly and not very well-rounded for my tastes, I didn't find myself feeling any uncanniness the way I did when it came to a lot of character animations from TP, especially because facial animations in this game mainly rely on alternating textures instead of traditional 3d facial animation, and the result is that Link and Ganon's designs are near-perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Gameplay:
The combat is pretty much traditional zelda-style hack-and-slash. Not a deep system and with only a handful of different enemies in the game's world ( .... to be completed)
