It was fine. Very cool ideas and atmosphere, gameplay was cool. I just got really fed up with the difficulty of navigating it. It’s kind of a Metroidvania but I could never get a good sense of space.

A work of staggering genius. I cannot imagine that any other game in this genre will ever surpass this achievement.

Single player is boring, but that’s not the point. The multiplayer is sublime. Squad-based play works great, and the game really benefits from a simpler array of weapons. The atmosphere is superb as well.

I wanted to give this 3 stars, but then realized, well, I did enjoy it enough to play the entire base game and all the DLCs to completion. So, I guess that’s worth at least another half a star.

The ultimate Metroidvania. The Soulslike death mechanic adds to the tension and thrill of exploring and overcoming obstacles. Movement in Hollow Knight is a joy. The world is full of nooks and crannies to explore and secrets to uncover. The boss fights are amazing. Among my favorite games ever.

Absolutely amazing. Perhaps my favorite game of all time, and certainly of the past 10 years (and that includes Breath of the Wild).

The best open world ever made. Brutal, relentless, challenging but (mostly) fair Soulsborne combat. A deep and fascinating lore. I had never finished a Soulsborne game before, but I sank 101 hours into this one to reach the end, and I loved every moment of it. Play it.
