Played very little of this but what I got to see was very cute and highly polished. Too simple for me though, plus battle royales aren't my cup of tea.

Decent and visually beautiful game.

There's too much unnecessary walking on most sections though. The kid just moves way too slowly. A sprint button would've been helpful or maybe being able to gather some momentum while walking long enough in the same direction.

I was hoping that the game would elaborate a little bit more on what was going on setting-wise, but that moment never came. As such, it struggled to keep me interested and I didn't really care to finish it for a long time, no matter how "mysterious", "strange" or "deep" some parts of it appear to be. I care primarily about playing games, not about whatever people talk about it online trying to make it seem less lame with all sorts of interpretations or theories. That is not playing a game or paying attention to the game aspect, it's something else which is outside of the experience of the game itself.

Fortunately it's a short one so I did finish it after all. Great game for just zoning out and and solving some nice puzzles on a rainy day.

More action focused than Dead Space 1, but way more fun too.

Your shots, stomps and hits really feel like they pack a punch unlike in the first game. You move quicker, the control scheme with a joystick was improved to be more focused and simple, weapon reloading animations and sounds are way better, 3d movement in zero gravity sections is better, the shop is better, suits are cooler, there are more necromorph types, environment and level design and art direction look absolutely stunning and more interesting than in DS1, etc.

However that made it much less scary than the first one since you feel way less vulnerable. The fact that you're not alone in a giant deserted malfunctioning spaceship in the middle of nowhere in a completely different star system, but in a space city/colony with still lots of normal people roaming around, makes it way less lonely and unnerving. When you arrived at the Ishimura in the first game everything was already fucked and silent and less flashy since the beginning, which made it more mysterious, for the most part.

It's a change in atmosphere that detracts from aspects that made DS1 so memorable to me and I will even say that it foreshadows what became of DS3. That doesn't mean this one's not worth it though, far from it.

Also minor nitpick, but the 3D map was completely discarded which is a shame, it's and aspect of DS1 I really liked and immersed me more into the game, it really felt like you were exploring and investigating this place and it also let you analyze the environment and plan your strategy before entering a room or corridor.

Steel solid game. Would play again.

I always wanted a MH game that looked like the opening cutscenes in the earlier titles of the franchise, and here it is in all its glory. In that regard, I'm very satisfied.

The rest of the game was pretty weak though. I was kind of bored the first 40+ hours in to be honest, it was only when Elder Dragons started being available for hunting that I barely started to get more into it.

This game is just too forgiving. What I loved about older MH games was how absolutely ruthless they were, lots of hunts would really get my blood pumping, but World hardly made me feel challenged or make me want to actually pay attention or try.

Not that much of a bad experience nonetheless and the presentation is very spectacular, I would recommend it for people who have never played the series. It's no wonder this was the game that put MH on the map for millions out there.

Maybe Iceborne will be more interesting, who knows.
