battlehuntz finished Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
Rating still holds. Something is special about this game and Squeak Squad for me. My childhood is built around the Flagship Kirby titles, and while not everyone is down with Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad, I am. It isn’t a perfect Metroidvania, your CPU allies are negligible and stupid when they hold weight, and it isn’t mapped particularly well, but it’s far less bad map wise than little me remembered. Finished it with 95% completion, and in 2 days. My little cousin got me the Switch Online expansion, and say what you will, but the GBA emulator, and filter are rather excellent with the OLED. It’s rare you see me hyping up a graphics filter, but this put CRT filters to shame. I’ll always love this game; it’s charming with its unique bestiary, its soundtrack, and its structure. I think it’s a really nice game, emblematic of the era in the early 2000s where Nintendo outsourced a lot of handheld titles, and they still tended to slap. This slapped.

battlehuntz finished Undertale Yellow

This review contains spoilers

I did Neutral and Pacifist; once again I don’t have the mental capacity to kill everyone in this game, so No Mercy is off the table. Incredibly well sprited, characterized, written, told, and the soundtrack is beautiful. It’s amazing this is just a fangame. And although it’s a prequel where we have a general idea of the outcome, how it reaches it is more than worth your time. Only not giving it a perfect as there isn’t QUITE as much of Undertale’s memory of your actions, although tone and aesthetic are preserved to perfection. That, and I find that the difficulty spikes pretty wildly toward the end. But god. I loved my time with this. Beat it in two days, one day for each route. It’ll be on the mind for a while. The Etika dedication at the end made me tear up, and the story got me damn close. Excellent fanwork and an absolute triumph.

battlehuntz shelved Sonic Superstars
Tried a replay on ps5. To see if my thoughts changed with updates and a better system. Noticing more glitches and general issues. Every Sonic fan who harassed me when I said it was mid on twitter especially that guy with the poorly drawn Gengar sona who shouldn’t touch a pen or keyboard again for that matter, I apologize. I was wrong. It isn’t mid. It’s BAD! There. I changed for you!

battlehuntz finished Hades II
Fantastic but still in early access in the simplest definition. If you can accept that there are placeholder models and portraits or unfinished portraits, and one route isn’t fully finished and the story isn’t done yet, hop on. This is excellent. It changes systems and feels fresh, yet so loving to the original. I’m not going to give a rating until 1.0, as that’s not really fair of me if I give something which is explicitly in early access a 4.5, yet openly diss games which release unfinished. It’d be disingenuous to the process too. I look forward to seeing what Supergiant creates here. I’ll re-review it and score it once we truly have an ending. For now, I think it’s best I put it down until its next major update to reduce any chance of burnout.

battlehuntz commented on BigGnome's review of Final Fantasy X
Seeing ps2 graphics used as an insult blows my mind because it’s the system that shot this out in 2001.

And even if HD Remaster looks fucked by comparison, it says a lot that the art direction here is still strong enough as a base to keep it nailed down
