PARADISE IS 19 MILLION LIGHT YEARS AWAY
Frantically dodging and blasting still feels fun at times, even if it feels like it's striking beyond its true capabilities (Space Harrier is a much more complete execution of these concepts). A lot slower-paced than Robotron but there's something almost melancholy about its presentation. You're the last of the human race, and, buddy, all your luck was spent on surviving for just thirty seconds more than the rest. No matter how hard you try, how fast you shoot, Paradise feels so far away as to be unattainable by mortals (at least without paying a fortune), and the game takes glee in making this clear. Kind of love this way more than I should.
