There’s potential that they turn this into something greater. But there’s just too much of the outdated, poor QoL experience here to get past for me.
One of the best Star Wars video games I've played. Was pretty glued to the story from start to finish, and actually felt some motivation to get most of the collectibles because of their loose ties to the story.
Played this as a newcomer in 2021 and I have to say - the game simply isn't fun. Hasn't aged well.
Strengths: Well-thought out world, with intriguing yet TOUGH-to-follow lore. Some seriously nightmarish monster / boss designs.
Weaknesses: Many poorly designed areas and mechanics (looking at you, Capra demon). Core and advanced systems are much too obtuse to figure out on your own without external resources. A movement / combat system that is frankly too archaic and janky by today's standards.
All that being said, I am going to beat my head against the wall and eventually get back to this simply because so many people adore this game and maybe it'll take getting more than 20 hours in to "get it". I'm an idiot.
