Apocalypse is a weird game to say the least, it has the best turn based gameplay I've ever played, the bosses are amazing, the soundtrack has a lot of songs that already existed in base IV, including the amazing battle b2, but the new soundtracks that this game offers are very good to. The overworld is much less confusing than base IV overworld, it even has a quest marker telling exactly where to go, this is more relative if you liked or not, I personally enjoyed the addition. In short, this game fixes and improves tecnically in every aspect from base IV, so, does this make the game better?
For me, no. some things i loved about IV were the characters and story, Walter and Jonathan are my favorite characters in the franchise, and unfortunally, this is where things go down for me, the characters in this game follow a very anime trope, something that I'm not a big fan, especially in a SMT game, and not only that, but the majority of them have no charisma at all, the only characters I really liked were Nozomi and Navarre, the others are very annoying or forgetable, now to the story itself, I have to say that I really loved the villains, Krishna is a very cool character, Odin and Dagda are also very cool, I really loved to see flynn finally speaking, they gave a really cool personality to him, the final boss with the whole squad from base IV in the final boss as a second party was my favorite fanservice in this franchise so far. Now to the ending itself, the ending I got which was the bonds ending was too perfect for me, like a Persona ending, In my opinion this ending in a SMT game doesn't really fit in with the series, but the other ending is a lot more what you expect from a SMT game, I saw on YouTube after beating the game and liked a lot more. Having said all that, this game is fun as hell.

This games is so much worse than what I think it would be, I don't know where to even start exactly, there is so much wrong with it, first the gameplay, in the first hour i was liking the gameplay, thinking it was different and could be fun, but after 8 hours this is fucking awful, the gameplay is so fucking slow that is painful, combine this with the extremely high encounter rate and you will have a nightmare of experience, and the fusion system is awful, why not make just like it is in Shin Megami Tensei, but no, it was to be some spell card bullshit, and the negociation system is fucking awful too, sometimes a demon will respond completely different out of the blue, but let's talk about the thing that disappoints me the most, the story, i did not finish the game, but after 9 hours the story haven't interested me a bit, I was expecting a really cool story, but no, the villain is trash, for the main cast that I picked I only liked Maki and Nanjo, the rest is pretty forgetable, saying all that, at least the psp ost is cool. About the bosses, they are prerrty non existing, i was expecting a lot of cool bosses like smt 1, but pretty much 90% of the game so far is just boring as fuck random encounters, at least harem queen is cool. And another nitpick i have that annoyed me a bit, Why the fuck every NPC sprite in this game is so fucking ugly? Anyway, for the first game of the franchise that has my favorite game of all time, I was really expecting a lot more, this game desperally needs a remake

Awesome game, best GBA Castlevania by far, amazing soul system, amazing exploration, very good gameplay, good bosses, good ost and a very ok story, not that this matters anyway, is still a masterpiece, if only some souls were to have a higher drop rate it would make the game better.

Greatest ending to a trilogy of any videogame ever, icon of a entire generation, most epic game for the best generation of all time, the game that made Bill Gates signes it's first copy, that stop a entire country, that gather 1 million people together playing the multiplayer in a 2007 exclusive console, this my friends, is the definition of PEAK FICTION.

Fuck this game and whoever made it.

I don't care what other people on twitter says, this is the game that introduce me to Megaten and for that I'm forever grateful, definitely a masterpiece, got me hooked from the beggining to the end.

Amazing combat, setting, bosses, dungeons, difficulty curve and soundtrack, the narrative and characters compared to games like SMT 4 are a bit lackluster, but i guess this is part of the charm of the game honestly.

Shin Megami Tensei IV is a masterpiece, the setting is awesome, the story is very good, the soundtrack is wonderful, the gameplay is a clear evolution of its predecessor and the main cast is amazing, the only bad things are the confusing overworld and the strange difficulty curve in the beggining from the rest of the game. That said, this is the best game of 2013 for sure.

I played the PS1 version, so I'm doing this review based on that version, this game is definitely better than I expected, although it's still dated in some aspects, the gameplay is a bit broken but fun, the bosses are cool, hiring demons is simple and very easy, which I liked, and the story is very good, the law, chaos and neutral routes are very well divided and well done, it is very easy to take the route you want if you are watching a guide, now the negative points are that some dungeons are horrible, especially the last one, and random encounters have the capacity to be extremely annoying depending on your luck, I recommend using the estoma skill, which makes demons weaker than you not appear. Anyway, definitely a product of your time, if you're a fan of the franchise like me it's worth giving it a shot.
