Games Ranked by Sadness

These are games that I rank based on how much they made me cry. Only 1, 2 and 3 actually made me cry however so the rest are ranked on hard their moment hit.

My god, seeing the real photos of the creator’s actual son who passed away due to cancer at the age of 5 in the end credits made me burst into tears. This entire game was just heartbreaking.
This game will make me cry every time because of the letter specifically in the Leave ending. The voice actress actually starting crying while reading her line making it feel so real that I just couldn’t stop crying as well.
The first game to actually make me cry, the scene where Sarah dies is still one of the most heartbreaking moments personally and is still stuck in my mind 11 years later.
Hearing your father try his best to comfort your mother while you’re on your deathbed was brutal, no parent should watch their child die and that conversation felt too real.
Lee’s death is still one of the saddest deaths for me personally, I loved watching Pewdiepie years ago play through this game and playing it now myself it still hurts like hell.
This is one of the first games I ever played, I have many fun memories of this game especially with the music. So hearing that absolutely beautiful main menu music more than a decade later almost made me cry.
War from the perspective of the everyday people, what better way to make a tearjerker huh? Watching Emile walk to his death while talking about his wife and daughter was hard hitting.
Unexpected, I really didn’t think they’d do this. I really liked Persona 3 and the MC is my favorite of the big three and seeing him die on the school roof together with Aigis comforting him with that beautiful music hit.
That ending hurt like hell, helping Cloud through hell, mako poisoning and 4 years of torture just to be shot and killed in the middle of nowhere by the people he helped and contributed to for years hurt to watch.
The beautifully shot ending with real footage covered with my favorite video game music track ever made was very special. Not only a beautiful song but a nostalgic look and feel as well nearly made me teary-eyed.
